Who doesn't love a mock-up? Let's see yours!

Not sure yet. It might be a diorama. I have the "Kiss" band figures. Thought I might print them 1/25th scale and display them with the van with speakers in the base and play Destroyer album. Who knows where this will go?! -

Getting That "Unicorn" Kit Some kits are just plastic and instructions. Others are history, heart, and time travel. Back in 1977, I was ten years old—bright-eyed, glue on my fingers, and too impatient for paint. My first kit ever. Straight from the box: no modifications, no weathering, just decals and raw enthusiasm. It ended up as a Fourth of July firecracker of a build. Flashy, chaotic, unforgettable... and, if I'm honest, a source of regret for the next 48 years. That kit was my introduction to the hobby, a spark that turned into a lifelong passion. I never forgot it. I chased it like a ghost, always hoping one day it’d reappear—not just as a model, but as a second chance. Then it happened. At the Heartland Model Car Nationals, surrounded by craftsmanship and community, there it was. My unicorn. The same kit I built as a kid, waiting for a proper welcome into the present. This time, it won’t be just glue and decals. It’ll be everything I’ve learned since—precision, creativity, evolution. A tribute to beginnings, growth, and the wild journey in between. To new beginnings... and to finally doing it right. -

Foose Ford FD-100 Pickup Our club is has a "Club Challenge" every 3 months. This Challenge is "box art". Lol... due at the end of the month. I bought this kit from a club member, missing engine, exhaust, and disc brakes for $10. Having a 3D Printer and a ton of files, I started printing. Ford predator 5.0, tarmac transmission and calipers & rotors. Box Art doesn't show the engine&transmission, so I'm good. I had to lower it about 6mm to get the ride hight the same as the box. Calipers & rotors are the same (drilled & slotted), just larger (more realistic), a mockup engine, for now. Really can't see the interior, so it's going to be maroon & grey. Enjoy the pics -

I feel your pain! I'm in the same position now myself, and it doesn't help that I have a 3D printer. -

My name is Ken, and I have an addiction. 3D Printing! I'll pick up a kit, look at the wheels, "No, there has to be better." Next thing you know, I wake up and there's 3 different bodies printing, f250 crew cab, box van and a civic. WTH?... I was only looking for wheels!? Well here's the civic in mockup... Not sure if I'm going stock, JDM, or lowrider -

The bench is never empty! I had someone tell me it's cheating to use 3d printed parts at the last HMCN.... New WIP. Chevy box van. Everything will be 3d printed for this build. I don't care how much resin I go through! More pics as they come off the printers -
This was given to me years back and has been sitting on my shelf since then. I knew what I wanted to do with it, but didn't have the time. Bought a SLA printer and went crazy printing parts.... Here we go... Early model grill, visor, bumper, ugly duck, triple airhorns, fenders, airtanks, 5th wheel, shifter, seats, double sleeper, drop axle, lowering rear springs, wheels and tires. Most of the parts came from Cults 3D, dud99 is the designer. I'm sure I'm not done yet!? I cut the frame and stretched it 130mm, started to box frame, cut the grill our on the hood. WIP... here's some picks.

Revell Peterbilt 359 Been sitting on my shelf for a few years. Printed up some parts, stretched the frame 4¾"(130" scale). Now we'll see where it goes from here. Not sure if I like the raised roof on the sleeper. -

love it!! I would Matt clear it and foil it -
Yes. However I'm going to test different base colors. White, black, gold and silver. Get some spoon samples and go from there. I was also thinking, taking the tbird emblem off the roof and putting a oprah window there.

Here's the paint. If I remember right, I bought it @ the 1997 Heartland Nationals. I had big plans for it back then. 27 years later, not dried out! Now I realize why I don't build 1/32 scale! The dust is like boulders!

Picked another "Ollie's" deal, 1/32 1960 TThunderbird curbside. Don't know what I'm going to do yet, lowrider, or cartoons hotrod. Found some old paint(15-20 yrs) in the back of a drawer. It was jellied a little so I added reducer and let it fly. Over a white base. Here's the results, still have to sand & polish...
