    V-Dub

    These are all of the pics I took during the build. They say that a picture is worth a 1000 words, not really good at describing the work Ive done I added a pic of the custom decal sheet I made for the dub.
  3. Ive worked in the automotive industry over 30yrs and served our country. Tired of taking orders from someone else, I retired. Started my own company so I could have more free time. Started "gluing kits together around 7 and had to give it up @ 17 when I enlisted. Never had the time to build anything till I retired. I would buy kits and start them, never finishing them. Now I have time. I have learned a lot in the past 5yrs, however Im feel Im still a noob. I really enjoy building and pushing my limits. Im not good with the small details (little ADD/ADHD), working on it. I hope you enjoy my builds, Im open to constructive criticism. So fire away. few of my builds;
  4. This was a weathering test build. I wanted to see if I could get a "realistic" weathered looki I took iron from dirt, fine dirt, brown primer and salt to get this look. Im real happy with the outcome. This was a parts kit. The roof had been crushed on the drivers side and I didnt think I could fix it, you can see the attempt. So why not break the windshield, make it look like it was hit by something big. The only mods were drilling holes on pass door handle, c notch and channing the bed. The interior was painted Sea Foam Blue. Silver micro glitter was placed on the shifter knob, arm rest, stearing wheel and the centers of the seat. Basic dash detail. Wheels & tires are from a dicast 39 chevy pickup I laid down the brown primer, then the iron and fine dirt. soaked it with a "special" sauce that a friend came up with. Baked it for 48 hours and spraied with mop n glow. Gave it a couple squirts of water, coverwd it with salt, back in the dehydrator over night. Couple of medium coats of Sea Foam Blue( the hood & taile gate didnt get color). Once again in the dehydrator for 48 hours. Too many hours sanding!!!
  5. Procrastinating before a show. Picked up a 29 roadster kit 6 months befor the show and wanted a "Cartoons Magazine" style build. Had other builds on the bench getting ready for HMCN show, so it went on the bottom of the pile. the night before the show, I started the build. From 1700 Friday night to 0330 Saturday morning I got her done!! The only thing i had to finsh at the show was to glue the headlamp buckets and headers on. if you look close, you can see the glue for the lenses is still wet @ the show. This is a 10hr build, and it shows! I dont recomend doing this. Still debating if I want to deconstuct it and and make it better or just put it on the shelf. Few mods made; Sprint car Right rear tires & wheels cut and fitted to the stock 29 rear wheels. Brass shifter w/bondo shift knob shaped as a head(didnt have time to carve tiki head). dechromed except headlamp buckets and snorkel. Jewel tail lights. Paint; Body Spanish Moss. Interior brown leather. Wheels sunset gold. Chassis maroon. Engine black.
  6. Ii was asked to build a family members old car, 1964 Riviara. It took some time to find a 1964 promo Nothing special, just a curbside.
