  1. little more progress today, the "Office" is done as well as the under body , now moving to the body
  2. another paint session today, got the tub wheels skid guards and the body painted, so now 99% of the parts are painted and i'll start assembly once they dry
  3. A new model i started few days ago, Audi Sport Quattro #6 from the 86 monte carlo rally. very nice kit going OOB on this. so far i primed the body in light gray (hate painting white on white plastic) and started the under body assembly
  4. Thanks. i used fusion360, i'm much more familiar with it and it a good tool for "hard surface parts" i'm struggling to learn blender as well and it's indeed quite difficult. you can get a free version of fusion360 too. a bit limited but all the major features are there.

  6. I've been designing and printing parts for my models for some time now, this time i wanted to try a full car. so i found a file on cults and bought it. only to discover it's super basic and lack details. but the general shape was kind of right for what i wanted. and this car is not available in plastic kit form i added my own designed wheels and roof rack and tried to make it acceptable, defiantly not my best work in terms of finish and details, but for a primitive 3d model its not terrible. the surfboard is from Revell 37 ford kit. another difficulty i ran into was making the glass, the front glass you see is my attempt in vacuum forming which is far from perfect. apparently there is also a model on cults that looks a little better, i might try it one day.
  7. Started to paint some parts, the body got a coat of white as a primer, the final color is going to be bright (haven't decided yet) so i need a white base. the rest is just semi gloss black for the interior and floor pan, and rubber black for the tires. my biggest problem which i haven't found a solution to yet is the glass, will need to figure it out at some point.
  8. Although I designed and printed parts for my models before, it's the first time I'm trying a full car. Bought the file on cults and I must say it's very very basic, but it captures the shape of the vw squareback so it'll have to do. The under body was just flat so I designed my own with some basic details. The interior is also just basic shapes but I am going to leave it as is. For wheels I'm going with Porsche fiches. Also trying to design a roof rack. The idea is to make it some kind of surf/cal look. I'm sure it will be far from perfect, but there are no kits available so at least it will be unique.
  9. This is from the description, so i'd say defiantly stickers: "They are printed onto high grade white 7 year vehicle vinyl using UV resistant, water proof inks, the backing is very sticky and each individual sticker has it's own contour"
  10. that's the closest thing i found, but i thing its stickers not water slide https://www.ebay.com/itm/153214308810?itmmeta=01J335N3MDG7P3PW2090XQHQ40&hash=item23ac48d1ca:g:JqIAAOSw8JZbvLm8&itmprp=enc%3AAQAJAAAAwJrXaDNzhMlwpkvQ1BMy9uEOBNz98Ua6v%2Ft8Z9YKUYC6DY%2Bv74djY3W%2Fdt8VQQ1QjEa07%2FpJIY0%2BtmJUwOwvNHdFL4XIIfJo0KmaOiJDniGSJJup0oe%2FeBU%2B84bMRIMJxbjme32D1IT%2BShNNbueVXK2SniZ8zJPlTJkKz8sqXvLEM59%2B%2FCC7iNxlUxXbz3F3hWTqXNZdQchvwdkg1bpZuolWQa6qZZygRUUDkDhrDbT5lJHt%2FgeYwt8o8YnV83r6rg%3D%3D|tkp%3ABk9SR6i61OWYZA
  11. I want to build a camel trophy land rover (1/24 scale) any one got an idea when i can a set of decals to match?
  12. great news i love old rally cars, i hope it will come out soon
  13. nope, that's a willis MB which the WW2 jeep, cj2 and 3 were its predecessors but they are not identical
  14. As the title says, were there any CJ3 kits available? either 1/25 or 1/24 if not can a cj2 be converted (dont know if a cj2 was available as a kit) looked on the 3d files sites too but didnt find one
  15. This is my latest build, the Revell 37 Ford Pickup converted to tow truck. the conversion is the bed (on a shortened bed floor), Crane, Frame with lights and rear wheel arches. all designed and 3d printed by yours truly. the only downside was some fitting issued of the hood that left a not so nice gap but "tis what it is", Hope you like it!
  16. More progress today, almost finished the truck itself. there's an annoying gap between the hood and the body that i couldn't get rid off, so i'll live with that. next I'll turn my attention to finishing the crane itself
  17. I would consider the idea, but i dont have any texaco declas
  18. had some progress, engine done and in the frame, body panels painted and cleared, now waiting for them to dry so i can start assembly
  19. some time ago someone had a thread on a ford pickup tow truck so that inspired me to also build one, i already had the kit in my stash so i started to look for pictures and reference on the interweb. than i started designing my own version loosely based on a period Weaver auto crane. here some initial mock up shots of the bed and crane i designed and printed. haven't decided on paint scheme yet, but i think it will be two tone orange blue or white red.
  20. here i used a combination of technics: first the entire body was sprayed with dark brown next layer was light green, once dry i went over most of the body with 1000 wet sandpaper, gently exposing the dark color underneath next came a layer of "chipping" medium followed by a darker green layer, once the chipping is activated, it created the effect i was after of layers of older and newer paint and rusting and flaking paint. after that came applications of washes of various rusty shades, pigments and some brush strokes here and there.
  21. This is my finished AMT Chevy 3100 pickup, i wanted to build a truck that is old and rusty on one hand but still "kind of" runs and work, so no flat tires or broken glass or missing parts, just a beaten old farm truck. used several different methods to get that look, painting over rust colored primer and sanding, chipping, washes and pigments. hard to see but i also tried to create an aged look for the seat.
  22. Thanks. That's the Revell 30 ford coupe kit, and the engine is from the kit.
  23. Just finished this one, built OOB, very nice kit and i'm pleased with the result
