AMT IH Scout II
eran_k replied to eran_k's topic in WIP: Model Trucks: Pickups, Vans, SUVs, Light Commercial
well things didn't well quit as good, even though the body and the printed hood were primed exactly the same (mr sufacer 1200 gray) and painted the same time with the same paint, somehow the hood came out in a different shade of green. the decals were also pretty bad, tore up in few places and remained wrinkled no matter how much decal set i used. never the less it's done. i'll try a better job with the next one (someday), maybe i'll get the other version with no top. -

Progressing along, this is a fairly basic kit so not too many details. i finished the chassis and interior and shot the first coat of paint on the body. i think ill add some darker wash to the the seats to try and enhance some details. i sisnt bother too much with the engine bay as the hood will be probably glued. -
As my first 2025 i choose the AMT Scout II. from looking up reviews and builds i knew the hood is too curved so decided to fix it, hot water didn't seem to do the trick so i tried putting it in a dehydrator...the results were "unsatisfying".. so i went to plan B - make a 3D printed hood, also decided to make an older style grill to see how it looks. once i was happy with these parts, i primed everything and now im waiting for the primer to dry

This is my last 2024 project, a vintage go kart in 1/25 scale that i designed and 3d printed. it's not a specific model but rather based on images i found online, it's mostly based on a 60's rupp. the engine is also roughly based on a period correct "west bend" engine. hope you like it, it was a fun project. Happy holidays and new year!

Heller Renault R8 Gordini
eran_k replied to Nacho Z's topic in Other Racing: Road Racing, Salt Flat Racers
not to hijack your thread here are the 2 photos i have of this build, im going almost OOB just enhancing a bit with couple of 3d printed items like carburetors, muffler and roll cage of my own design. as for the "bowing" of the section in front of the rear engine lid, i thing it can be fixed by either cutting in the middle and taking out a tiny section or it might even work with gluing a piece of plastic strip underneath -

Nice build, working on this one myself and although it's a simple kit i didn't find it too bad. -
Vespa 1/24 scale

is this your own design? did you get on cults? mind sharing the link? -
During the last couple of weeks iv'e been working on designing and building my own version of a belly tank racer\lakester. it's a bit simplistic in couple of areas (curbside, wheels are not very authentic) but never the less i'm proud in my creation. btw, the numbers and gold stripe are hand painted on purpose.

As it happens, im going to be in the US for two weeks in November. This time area is north east (largely from NYC to Maine, but with Philadelphia at the end) i looked at the Events calendar and also searched the net but couldn't find any Models or Real Cars event that are in that area and i could visit. I hope you guys can help out a fellow modeler and Gear head to find something interesting to see, other wise ill have to go with the wife to all the outlets, malls and other shopping centers in sight...?

I mostly use either lacquers, or tamiya and Mr hobby paints. is there any benefit using MCW enamels over their lacquers? or it's just a matter of what system i'm used to use?

yes i'll be interested, thanks

Started with the decals, and boy there are LOTS of them, some quit complex. but they are good quality so it makes it a little easier.
