  1. Thanks to all of you that replied. I agree, I am the only one that can determine when and what to detail and how much. Not that I have detailing down pat mind you but as I said, I can not get over the detail work that you guys can do. Kudos to you all!
  2. I'm trying to get back in to building after a long (very long) time away. I can't help to admire all the detail work in most everything I see built - be it here on the forum or in the magizines. How and when do you guys decide when to go overboard in detailing?
  3. 8 or 9 years old for me 1963 - 1964. I was the youngest of about 5 friends that were building - they had me buy a kit of an early 60's Thunderbird; the body was made up with the two sides (front and rear fenders and doors), the hood, trunk and interior were one piece and the chassis. Even at that age I knew it was a horrible kit. My older brother had dabbled in building too. One model (almost a complete build) was an AMT '40 Ford in which he nailed a deep burgandy metalic paint job. His building stopped as mine started to grow AND after one of the neighborhood girls whacked his 40 Ford dream off the "porch" railing (as it sat curing) Poor SOB!!!! I must admidt, building in those days was awesome - not a care in the world and plenty of yelling from my Mom about my spray painting! It was a blast. And now, with a great inventory, I'm just starting to build again!
  4. Thanks Olle & Alvin.... I really appreciate your input. I will look at WalMart however, the local Home Depot and Lowe's are offering some good deals on "smaller" setups; one such deal comes with a nail gun - so, as a home improvement tool my wife will all for it. Each of the set-ups being offered can be 'idaled' down or regulated to 20psi.... I feel I should be o.k. with that for 1/25th 1/24th scale stuff. So, Alvin, you a pilot?
  5. I'm trynig to decide which way to go in the purchase of an air compressor - for air brushing. Do I go with a Badger or Paasche - smaller sized and compact or.... do I go for a portable one that the PSI can be regulated and can be used else where around the house? Your opinion is appreciated!   7. Here's the low down, I'm trying build either a Rat Rod/Retro Rod (are they the same?) or a, say, Bonneville turned street '34 coupe using the body of the Revell kit. So far, the doors have been opend and hinged as is the trunk. I'm using the AMT/ERTL '32 Chopped Ford (Coddington) chassis and up in the air right now on engine. I have a few thoughts on the rear end... 1. the one that came with the Coddington kit, 2. the Pro Street rear end of the Super Bee (AMT) 3. Revell '99 Cobra Mustang.... Any thoughts / suggestions? Thanks!

  9. Hello all! Great forum here. I need some help, I'm trying to "get back" in to building but, because of my ADD, ADHD an OCC.... I am having one heck of a time deciding how! The hobby has changed so much, in particular, the detailing. I have a pretty good collection but need a starting point. I've decided on the Tony Nancy double dragster kit, the '23 T bucket first. How can I get some reference pics? Does the box art do these justice? Thanks! Drew C
