  1. I was in a Thrift Store (Value Village), bored out of my mind, as my wife was looking at antiques. I walk over to the Toy section to look at the Hot-Wheels when BAM! I saw it, this Viper, Corvette and Ram VTS Revell kits opened but parts sealed in factory bags with NOTHING missing, SEVEN hard earned Canadian dollars each. I have never sprinted across the store to a register so fast in my life. This kit was the only one that was Snapped together, but after my 1992 Thunderbird rescue it was a piece of cake. Never thought of building this car but as I built it and painted it I kind of fell in love with a car that I have once driven and forgot all about due to its terrifying nature. 1992 Viper RT10 finished in Tamiya Red and cleared with Tamiya Clear, Under body is primer with hand paints. The interior on this was special, hand painted the entire thing with Tamiya Yellow-Brown, and various Gray's to obtain a factory looking interior.
  2. 1991 Dodge Stealth R/T. Good kit with great detail. The engine though... The turbo pipe work made me second guess certain decisions in my life. The rear suspension just did not sit right for me and I should have pinned the mirrors. This kit is more of a practice kit so I can familiarize myself with older AMT/ERTL kits before severely messing up my Explorer, Blazer and Beretta kits which I will build one day when I feel I have the expertise. This kit is primed with Tamiya Primer and finished with Tamiya Pure White. Interior is Black primer with gloss, which I went way to thick with. Engine and under body was primed and hand painted. I went with the sunroof closed but not glued in as there was a visor option. The Indy 500 strobe light, special yellow paint and wheels were cool and I debated it but I wanted a glossy white car. I went with the optional wheels which were chrome but after dull coating them they turned into a weathered used car look which I actually like. The F150 sneaked in to give some color as this car is literally Black and White.
  3. Hey thanks for the kind words! Huge leap from 88 to 89, completely different direction. Both are great vehicles.
  4. Thanks!! Yeah I was really venturing out of my zone with the stripes and it turned out nice! I miss my 91 and the hurt has really started all of this model building lol!
  5. Thank you and i'm glad it took you back! That must have been one smooth ride. 5.0s are hard to come by around here but the 3.8s pop up here and there.
  6. Yeah the LX is missing some key goodness. Thanks!!
  7. This is my last Thunderbird build of the year. Next year I hope to build my Revell 1989 Thunderbird SC. I picked up this kit from my local hobby shop for a decent price. The price is what got me but after building it I would have to say Monogram nailed this kit. The kit went together well and the detail was great. I am not happy with my build though, I wanted the red stripe badly but my skills and tactics led me to use black bare metal foil instead of masking and painting...well then. I also like the 80s 90s RED interiors so I just dull coated, panel washed and glossed the dash over the bare red plastic and called it. The engine is cool and I some how messed the turbo intake up. In lieu of this I have gone and bought the re issue Revell kit of this model which I will build better, maybe a resin 5.0 Coyote and nicer wheels...we will see. This kit has Rustoleum primer under Tamiya Silver. Interior is the bare red plastic with clear coats.
  8. Oh man, that is the 5.0 Thunderbird, my favorite! Might kit bash and build it. Thanks for the kind words!
  9. Yeah it was intense, but was very rewarding at the end. I am posting my 1987 Turbo Coupe today, I really bought the kit on sale at a hobby shop, I like the car now after building but the 89-97 is where its at for me. Thanks for the kind comment!
  10. That sounds like a great time! I really hope Revell does, I think 2013 they re boxed the 1992 Cougar XR7 as a Lowrider. I would like to see both Thunderbird and Cougar re issued along with the other great kits from that time, I think there is modelers who would buy.
  11. These are some great models. Well done, keep it up!
  12. Hey, nice build! I owned a 1:1 97 accord sedan in that color. Keep up the great builds!!
  13. One of my favorite cars is the 1989-1997 Thunderbird. Its sister car, Cougar, also has a place in my heart. This was my second kit that I had started a decade ago but took a wise step and stopped realizing that I needed to do better than glue bombs and other hack tactics of modeling. I studied and researched and I am shocked at how decent this kit turned out. I love the late 80s early 90s Revell kits. Building a contemporary car from the day is a like of mine. I learned tons from this kit and bought a few more that I can perfect as my skills get better. Tamiya Black exterior on Rustoleum black primer, I sanded and did a lot of re sprays on the body. Tamiya Clear coat and I ended up using the whole Tamiya line of polishing compounds that worked out okay. Interior is primer black with gloss on the seats. Engine and exhaust are hand painted with Testors enamels and Tamiya acrylics.
  14. This is the kit that got me first started into model building and will be my first post on this forum. It was and is also a way for me to remember my first (beloved) car which was a 1991 Ford Thunderbird. This car was a glue bomb and a enamel brush paint massacre. The car also had both A pillars crushed. When picking up this hobby again a year and a half ago after a 10 year pause, I had to perform life saving measures to save this car. I took and have no pictures of the former car for good reason, lets just say it had the box art wire wheels mounted the same way as the art and was finished in Testors enamel turquoise brushed on by a teenage me. I stripped and worked this body as good as I could. I also basically did my first model restoration which was painful. This car was finished with the flash still on the tires because I was that wanting to be done with this build. I have since purchased eight more Revell 1989-1992 Thunderbird SC kits. I am a absolute freak for these cars, as the trained eye could tell by my name on the forum. I do intend on finishing four of the kits to the most professional standard I can achieve...we will see... This car is finished in Testors Deja Blue and has Krylon Primer on the plastic. The interior was, once again, hand painted with gloss and matte black. The under body is bad so we will not discuss. Under hood was hand painted with Testors silver, Tamiya black..etc... This build was supposed to be a factory fresh 1992 Thunderbird SC, but, I added some of the decals from the box and used a paint that is not Dupli Color or at all factory. I was shooting for the Twilight Blue Metallic that my 1:1 Thunderbird was finished in. I have since picked up the Ford color in Dupli Color and a 1991 kit that will be built in that color. This car also has "custom" suspension as during the restoration the previous glue had mangled key components. If you read that all, skimmed or even just viewed my post, Thank You and have a great day! I'm not a professional modeler, writer or photographer...working on it though! I also build for FUN and for ME and am constantly trying to improve!
  15. Thanks everyone, I'm so pumped to get my models on here!
  16. Hello, My name is Sam, I started modeling at 19 and built a 1991 Thunderbird, 1998 Firebird and a 1969 Ford Fairlane. I have always loved cars but have not been very talented in Modeling. I have Just picked the hobby back up at 31 in a big way to help with ptsd and I'm HOOKED. I have 59 models purchased and 15 completed to date. I just want to have fun and build the cars I like. I have been learning tons on YouTube and the internet. I would like to share and document my builds on this forum. Thanks for having me and I look forward to being apart of this forum. These pictures are a sneak peak of my builds. I will post them with better pictures and info in the coming months on paints boxes etc.
