  1. Looking forward to seeing the progress on this one.
  2. OCD kicked in on the Buick. I made the little fan guard on the radiator out of sheet aluminum, painted and added a home made caution decal. Now I am done. (I think!)
  3. Calling this one done. Windshield frame was broken and misshaped after 60+ years of thrashing around in the box. Had it looking right but during assembly it went back to its warped state. Scratch built antenna added. Finished in Buick Bronze Mist with brown leather interior.

  5. Further progress (slowly). Dash done and installed. Scratch built the shift lever and turn signal stalks, and park brake pedal. Air cleaner with homemade decals installed along with engine & auto trans dipsticks and trans cooler line done. Somehow I misplaced the fan but found one from a ‘62 kit on eBay so waiting for that to arrive so I can’t get the engine in the chassis. Finished the paint on the chassis and added the park brake cables.
  6. Making progress on this one. Scratch built P/S pump, belts and hoses on. Interior is getting there. Scratch built the arm rests, door release handles and vent window cranks. Carpeting in down. Just need to finish the dash and add the door locks.
  7. Working on this vintage unbuilt kit and it is very nice. Detailing up the 401 engine even though it doesn’t have the correct valve covers for ‘63. It also doesn’t have a carburetor but the large air cleaner will cover that. I put the linkage in there anyway, again will be covered by the cleaner. Made a coil and fuel filter. Soon the scratch built P/S pump will go on. I didn’t like the way the rear trailing arms were molded solid to the frame so cut them out and made coil springs out of wire.
  8. I just read through all ten pages of this build thread. Tom, this is a mind-blowing build and the work you have done is beyond impressive. I remember Syracuse Rigging had one of these and remember that 8V roaring. To think someone would scale model one is just incredible. Looking forward to future updates! Regards, Joe Kelly
  9. Thank you for showing the door handles drilled out. I have always been apprehensive to try that. But you have confirmed my suspicions that it looks way better.
  10. Finally finished up. Not perfect, and some things that didn’t turn out the way I’d hoped. But overall I am pleased.
  11. Thank you gentlemen!
  12. Interior done. Since this kit had a 4 speed and the interior console included was for an automatic, I scratch built the correct 4 speed console. Also added the arm rests, interior door handles, door locks, brake-clutch & e-brake pedals, turn signal & tilt wheel levers and flocking for carpet.

  14. Thanks! Should finish up this week.
  15. Getting close to finishing up this kit I have had since 1989. Got the 421 single 4 bbl mostly together. Added the P/S pump and other details. Heater hoses will go to the fire wall once the body is on.
  16. Man, this is a great build so far. Really nice enjoy you sharing the process.
  17. Looks like you are off to good start. Love that folks are rejoining the hobby. I did too last year!
  18. Excellent work. Great idea with the magnet placement.
  19. Thanks for sharing. Looking really good so far. I too may have to seek out this kit. I am inspired!
  20. Appreciate that David.
  21. Thank you!
  22. Finally finished. Some imperfections here and there by me. The molds must have been getting tired when this kit was issued back in the late ‘80’s as there were issues that I did my best to correct. Was able to get all the engine bay A/C, fuel, brake and coolant lines done. Oddly this kit did not include mirrors so I mined my parts stash and found the closest I could get. Added the antenna made from aluminum tube. Thanks for looking.
  23. Hello all. I have been posting progress of my build in the WIP section. I just realized that there are no mirrors in this kit. Not they are missing (owned this kit since buying new in 1989), they apparently weren’t provided and aren’t even listed in the instructions. I haven’t had time to dig out my ‘64 annual to see if it had them but don’t want to break up that kit anyway. Does anyone have some parts laying around that might work and are willing to part with? I would need a rear view interior and driver’s side outside mirror. The outside mirror has like an upside down trapezoid shape looking at the 1:1 cars online. Any help would be appreciated. Regards, Joe
  24. Thanks so much everyone. Getting closer to finishing this one up. I will post some updates soon.
  25. Interior done on the AMT ‘65 Lincoln convertible. Added home made arm rests, interior door handles, power window switches, gas, brake and e-brake pedals and the turn signal & column shift lever. Also added the carpeting. Really wanted a more turquoise color but oh well.
