  1. Started final assembly. The joining of the interior, chassis and body are always stressful to me for some reason.
  2. Wet sanded, polished, detail painted the body and started installing the LED wiring wiring harness. Also started making a scratch built outside rear view mirror.
  3. Thanks. I do like the Corvette Orange color.
  4. Thanks. I figured it something to do with radio shielding and the fiberglass body.
  5. Thanks. Yeah, quite rough. No where near the quality of some of the other resin body vendors, and it was a lot more expensive. I love the bodies I have gotten from Jimmy Flintstone. Much better and less expensive but I really wanted a California Special. I am not so sure I would recommend it unless you really want to build a California Special bad. Like was said, it is rough.
  6. While I am waiting for the 2K clear on the 1974 Corvette to cure I decided to see what it was going to take to get a Resin Tran-kit of a 1968 Mustang California Special I picked up a short while back to fit well. It will be a slow build while I finish the Corvette and my wife asked me to build. 1957 Thunderbird next. Now that I have finished the five current family owned Mustangs I decided I am going to build a series of “the ones that got away”. I used to own a J-code (302-4v), auto, PS, AC California Special in lime gold, with standard lime gold interior. The resin body needed a lot of work to make things fit, even the parts that came in the resin kit didn’t fit all that well together. The resin front seats will not be used, they really don’t look good to me. The 1968 GT kit seats look and fit better. I started fabrication to get the front windshield from the 1968 kit and an old AMT coupe back window I had in the parts bin to fit. That still needs a lot of work.
  7. I just got the body into 2K clear. Now I have to wait till Wednesday or Thursday to wet sand and polish. Getting closer and closer.
  8. Painted, flocked and assembled the interior tub. Tested the lighting for the gauges, it will not light up under the dash after assembly, just the gauges themselves. The chassis and interior are now waiting for the body to be ready, but that is going to be awhile. I am semi-patiently waiting for the molotow chrome trim to cure enough to spray the 2K without ruining the shine. Then I will have to wait to wet sand and polish.
  9. Sanded and resprayed the rocker panel chrome I messed up by touching yesterday. Installed the engine in the chassis and added upper and lower radiator hoses and heater hoses. Have to wait more than 48 hours to 2K clear the body to let the Molotow dry enough.
  10. Molotow through airbrush for windshield frame and rockers. Made the mistake of touching one side rocker so now I have to wait to sand it smooth, mask and respray it. assembled and wired the engine and started assembling the chassis. Have to wait till I run the LED wiring before I can install the rear sway bar and spare tire cover, the switch is going to run through that hole into the spare. question for someone more knowledgeable about the 74 corvette, why are the big block plug wires braided? Radio suppression?
  11. Started getting all of the major components in their base colors. I really like the 73-74 Corvette orange.
  12. I received my copy of 223 today. Better late than never, I guess.
  13. This year I got back into scale model cars, and my first 5 out of the shop are replicas of the Mustangs currently in the family. Show us your Mustang builds!
  14. coming along very nicely.
