Completed the set with a delivery today. One will be built as a standard car. One will be built using the MGSF transit to recreate the ridiculous 'Fat Boy' restomod. One will be built to create a racing version - not sure if I'm going to try to recreate the Mille Miglia car or just something of my own imagination.

Steering gear gaiters?
YellowHound replied to YellowHound's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
Thanks All - some great ideas for me to try. -
I'd like to add some gaiters to the steering gear of the 1/12 Italeri Lancia Stratos I am building. I have no idea how though - can anyone share some tips or ideas please? Thanks.

Wanted a simple kit to build - all my other current builds seem to be very demanding. Going to build this box stock (though with a little bit of under bonnet enhancement) as the lowrider option.

My favourite styling for the Firebird. Going to build this as white with blue transfers. I would like to find some better (stock) wheels and tyres though - does anyone have any suggestions??

My wonderful wife bought this kit for me as my Christmas present. Haven't felt this excited about an Xmas present in a while! I've been trawling the internet for sources of detail images of the original car but really that has come up short. Some things that 'help' but largely it's replicas and road cars. I've been looking at books and may buy the Lancia Stratos 50 tome, but I suspect that's going to be mostly images of the cars in competition. So if anyone can make a recommendation...... I'll post progress images but I think this one is going to take a while.

Larger scales = different airbrush?
YellowHound replied to YellowHound's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
Thank you all for your thoughts. I've ended up buying a new Hyundai compressor and a Procon P290 airbrush with a fan tip. Yesterday I painted a 1/16 chassis with primer and I have to say it was effortless. Great coverage from the brush and the finish is superb. -

A sneaky purchase. Wanted one for a very long time. A 'too good to pass up' price on Amazon and I'd bought one before I had time to think about it. I don't think I will be starting this anytime soon though, and it's likely I'll buy a '77 transkit. It's a huge 1/8th scale...

Larger scales = different airbrush?
YellowHound replied to YellowHound's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
Thanks. Do you know what flow rate your gun needs? All of the small spray guns I have looked at need an air flow rate beyond what my compressor can achieve. The more I think about it, and the more I research it, the more I am convinced a fan spray pattern (air)brush would be a good purchase. -
I will have a couple of new car kits to build in 2025, namely a 1/12 Lancia Stratos and a 1/8th Trans Am. Current airbrush is a Harder&Steenbeck Evolution 2024 CRPlus with a 0.45mm needle. Given the larger scales will call for a lot more paint coverage, and I'm likely to build more at larger scales, should I be looking to get another airbrush to give a higher paint coverage? Actually I'm very attracted by the idea of a fan pattern brush. If so, what should I be looking at? Thanks!

Update on the new Italeri 1/12 Lancia Stratos!

Landed on my doorstep a little while ago. Not allowed to peruse it 'til Xmas day but did have a quick check of contents.... -
Thank you!

Returning to a hobby I haven't 'practiced' for more years than I care to admit. With the onset of winter and in an effort to combat some 'issues' I struggle with I was drawn to scale model making. I've kicked off three builds so far, of which this is the one that is furthest along. I won't be challenging any of you guys on here with my skills, which don't match my aspirations. Anyway, enough twaddle. Completed the chassis part of this model today. Discs and calipers are after market parts. The engine headers I made up myself (somewhat crudely) as the kit parts were laughable in their crudeness. Mine don't match the actual car but I think are an improvement on the kit parts. Some pics:

Apparently now in stock at Jadlam (in the UK). My amazing wife has bought one for me as my Xmas gift. Can't remember when I was last this excited about my Xmas gift.... Hopefully mine will arrive next week.
