Nice! Ive always liked the design and curves of most of these cars, i really like the sunoco ferrari!
-
Well Im usually not a big fan of motorcycles, but this thing really appeals to me, it looks great. Its simple but yet has that mean look to it.
-
Yea, i guess i like performance over looks, thats why i like muscle cars over lowriders but the respect is all the same. speakin of respect, we probably disrespected Simon for hijacking his thread for our Impala discussion! Whoops..

Im not saying that people cant do their own thing, im just saying that there are so many that have become lowriders that would have been some of the best if back to original. Plus it isnt really doin your own thing if everyone, their brother, and cousin has an impala lowrider... ha its time to find something different. look at rollinoldskoo's lowrider projects, he's one of my favorite builders on here and he does things like that 82 malibu wagon and now that grand prix, its different and id love to see them as lowriders in real life. its kind of like the trend of turning a fox body mustang into a drag car, now you can hardly ever find a street one cause theyre all 10.5 drag cars now! it gets old

What kind of music.....
Darrell Gwinn replied to Hot_Rod_Bob's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Ha, I love this, we're all over the place with the different genres of music! -
I dont disrespect anything here, what Im saying that some of those Impalas started life as well optioned, high horse muscle cars, then instead of being restored to full potential, they end up that way. I mean just go find a biscayne and turn it into a lowrider and just get all the badging so you can say its an impala. Plus these cars were meant to be hot rodded, the point is how fast can you go, not how high you can hop. Im sure youd have to be crankin some R's to get in impala on 13"s to get up to speed without changing the gears.

Ha, yea well I may have to get another Revell kit and make a more realistic version of this car as well just for the heck of it
-
Im from Iowa and we're only a state and a lake away from Detroit and we take pride in our American muscle. I mean some cars are good lowriders, but some dont need to take a trip south of the border.

The candy red looks amazing, definately one of my favorites as well!
-
Ha, yea I have the revell z/28 and baldwin motion but i guess i never compared them to this one before. Oh well, it just adds to the model car-ness of it... if that makes any sense.

I dont think it matters that some of us havent been to cali to see these lowriders, its still a waste. plus these Impalas are meant to go forward, not up and down.

Ok, yet another idea of mine... The main thing i have to figure out is how to fit that hemi in there with out butchering anything too much.. ahh. Itll work, i know it will! ha ill need some help on figuring out what type of paint to get, i want it to be a flat green color like an old army jeep, gloss just wouldnt have the right look im lookin for. any suggestions? I plan on havin the Hemi be blown and I have a plastic bullet that im gonna use for the injector hat. Ill get a pic of that once i mock it up, it should be pretty neat. Ive already chopped the window frame, it looked to tall before. Somehow.... Ok heres the injector hat idea, ill have to shorten it up just a bit.

Fast And Furious Tokyo Drift Mustang
Darrell Gwinn replied to Clay's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
I have no idea about the model, but does it bother anyone else that they would even think about sticking a nissan engine in a mustang?! I mean it would be kind of cool if it was the other way around... lol just thought id put that out there -
Well get a container of sorts, put some gas on it and throw in a match! Gets rid of paint quick and easy! Haha, no thats totally a joke. I use this ELO stuff (easy lift off) its ok, guess i havent really tried anything else.

Oh and is it just me or are these Camaros proportioned funny? They seem kind of fat in ways...lol

What kind of music.....
Darrell Gwinn replied to Hot_Rod_Bob's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
To me cars and music goes hand in hand, so when it comes to models i usually have something playing and it help me focus and get more into a project, for instance if im building a muscle car ill usually be listening to classic rock cause to me it defines that era, plus ive heard stories of my dad cruisin around town in either one of his 67/68 camaros or a v8 vega with AC/DC cranked up so thats an influence as well. haha so do you any of you use music as inspiration in anyway or am i just weird and alone on this subject. -
Its good to see something other than a V8 in a drag car. I really like how the headers look for some reason... awesome
-
well if youre refering to his last project youre half correct, its a monte body but with a grand prix front and rear end, so that turns the whole thing into a grand prix.
-
Its the same as taking an American flag and turning it into a table cloth, those old Impalas are Americana and look better stock or atleast with regular sized wheels, not big ole 22s or little ole daytons or whatever plus theyre more valuable original. if you want to make a lowrider use something from the late 70s into the 80s

Wheres a reagle, or should i say regal? did i miss it?
-
Well here's one that probably wont get anymore attention from me since i didnt know where i was going with it in the first place. Its been a few years since I started this and I believe this was my first attempt at using putty. lol I cut off the back of a 96 camaro and stuck it on the back of a 69. I was suprised how well the two halves (well basically halves, maybe 1/3 and 2/3) went together, the roof lines were pretty well exactly alike and the body lines werent far off either. but then i lost interest and never got it back for this project. I look at it now and go wow, that is ugly...haha. maybe i can trade it off for something!? Any takers?! lol well here it is.

Well I had built one of these when I first started building and i just left it the yellow it was molded in and it turned out..ok for how old i was, but it has been torn down and thrown into the parts box. I liked the car so i had to build a better one to take its place. So I had the newish Motorworks 69 Z/28 which is the same kit but with cheesy graphics, twin turbos, and what not and it was going to be my new Rampage. then i came across a little Micro Machines Camaro I had and what do you know, its a miniature Rampage! Except it was white, and personally I think the white looks better than the yellow, so I painted mine white. I have yet to clear the body and finish up everything else, but thats my story of this camaro.

In model form I can stand to see them as lowriders, but when it comes to the real thing, man what a waste of american metal...
