Making room on the shelf
studioman3 replied to studioman3's topic in WIP: Model Trucks: Big Rigs and Heavy Equipment
Jim, I don't see anywhere on the box what motor it is, it just says it's 400bhp. I don't know much about trucks, but I assume it's Cummins. I was unsure about the motor color as well, so I went with blue and will call it a custom ordered color. I imagine there is a correct tranny color too, but that information is hard to find. James, as far as another shelf, politics is all I can say. My wife has seen Mr. Ahlborn's youtube and is making sure I don't start laying a new block foundation where our patio is suppose to be. She knows me all too well, LOL Tim -

James, it was your engine detailing link that got me going on this, it was quite helpful. Thanks Tim -

Ryan, Here are some tips, Tim gave me while I was working on my Freightliner. This should help you out if you are uncertain about painting the stripes. -
Making room on the shelf

Thanks guys, I liked the looks of it so I've started a new one just like her, but loaded with detailing, I just got a metal lathe and started turning parts,(fuel tanks, air tanks and breathers, horns, pullies, and maybe lights), plus I will be getting tires and wheels from my friend Jamie @ Mo'luminum. The new one will fill her spot on the shelf. I will start a new thread with the progress of it later on. Here is a sneak peak at the engine details so far. Tim -

The first pic looks like the real deal, it wasn't till I scrolled down to the second one that I realized you were showing us the kit, not a pic of the real thing. I'd say it came out great! nice weathering and detailing. Tim -

Tim, Outstanding, as usual, amasing how you just make them from a picture! How did you do the stripes on the bottom one? Are they decals or painted? Tim -

I had to put another one on Ebay to make room on my shelf, its a KW K100 tri drive with a 50 ton detachable goose neck lowboy with a Farrel compounding machine for a load. I thought I would make a post here, since there were a few guys interested in my last lowboy that sold. Heres a link, http://cgi.ebay.com/KW-k100-scratch-built-detachable-goose-neck-and-load_W0QQitemZ120522438283QQcmdZViewItemQQptZLH_DefaultDomain_0?hash=item1c0fb2768b, wish me luck. Tim

Welcome to the forum (insert name?) The pics are a little big and pixelated, but from what I can see, she looks real nice, I ve wanted to do some light work, its nice to see one all lit up. The trash bags and rubbish are a nice touch. I agree with Jason, in the right setting, she'd pass for the real deal. Tim -

Chuck, WOW! Thats one Hot rod, Looks like a beefed up International Hummer, I'm not big into the RADn things out, but this one is sweet for sure. You're gonna need some grab handles, that first step is a dusie! You can simulate a hydraulic lift with aluminum tubing as I did on this lowboy, just a thought. -
