  1. That orange, the redlines... a Hemi... PERFECT!
  2. I either use Model Master Aircraft Interior Gray or a bottle of flat black into which I dropped a couple of drops of flat white.
  3. I did a quick mock-up to check evrything before final assembly (I think I need to lower the front a little less than 1/16" to make it look right) and took some pics. No rear wing yet, and wheels aren't glued in place:
  4. That's a serious '70s STREET FREAK! Wild!
  5. A couple of chassis/interior shots before I glue the body on:
  6. Didn't some other (more high end "Mint") manufacturer already do a version of that car?
  7. If you don't need proportional control, how about a small solenoid? Just basically a magnetic rod suspended in a coil through which you apply current... could even make them yourself if you're tricky.
  8. That's cool, I guess, but why put a '61 hood on it if it's supposed to be a '63? Doesn't look like they put the matching '61 trunklid on it, though.
  9. I guess I'll have to get back on my own project. Now I'm feeling like I should be scratchbuilding a new tank.
  10. I've been meaning to buy one of these. I've got a Maisto (?) diecast kit of one somewhere, but that's curbside.
  11. You mean drive axles, right? That may change my plans a little. I was planning a transaxle and independant rear suspension... hmmm... maybe that won't have to change...
  12. You won't have to! Just added the finger guard/windscreen and drilled the drive sprockets:
  13. Thanks! I did some work on the cowl, firewall and dash last night. Shot it matte black to check my bodywork and make everything a uniform shade.

    Nice! Sweet paint and details.
  15. Absolutely GREAT! Now move this post to the "Under the Glass" forum where finished builds belong!
  16. I saw elsewhere that Revell is planning 1/25 R/C cars. I'm sure several of us would be interested in building our own bodies to go over those chassis... I think that the Viper and/or the Camaro concept would be good to base scale hotrods and customs on.
  17. I noticed these guys don't run 5th Wheels on their racing trucks: http://www.nabigrigracing.com/html/vernonbc_18.html Back in the roadster days, a diesel-powered entry nearly won Indy. I think running big rigs on a banked oval for 500 miles would be all about tires. On a road course, it's more about brakes.
  18. Yeah! I've got a couple of ideas stewing in my brain - after looking at European and American circuit and oval racing trucks, I think there are some definite possibilities, including open-wheel variants. You deep-South roundy-round stock car ya-hoos will just have to eat some of my West coast dust.
  19. My eye choses the following: A: 2 B: 9 C:23 D:13 E:19
  20. That either needs some crazy sidepipes or some kind of running boards/step plates to visually lower it in the middle a bit. I like it! Maybe a load of letters to the model mfr.'s inside asking for more hot rod/custom tools?

The work, and the quality of that work in that thing blows me away. I must say that I question some of your building decisions, because I feel that the kit parts looked better, styling-wise, than your scratchbuilt pieces. For example, I just don't get those headlight doors - they're not exactly aerodynamic, and don't really flow with the bodylines. All that being said, this thing is a trophy-winning machine! Out-of-scale details or not, the amount of details and the high quality of the work/engineering you put into them is amazing.
  22. My 1:24 version of the Hot Wheels "Torpedo Jones" car. Lots of scratchbuilding left to do, but it's a fun project! Big for a boardtrack racer, but that's sort of the idea.
  23. Great rod, Irv! You going to section that grille shell at all?
  24. The third one should work... the one w/ "IMG"
  25. That's lookin' darned sexy already!
