James, great to see you here! That Jeep is looking great so far. I love the cargo in the back, and the winch too.
-
Definitely, Jake! We're on the same wavelength - springer front, peanut tanks, suicide shifters. You da man!
Keep us posted, cuz I'll be placing an order!

Yes please - On the Bench, then Off the Bench!

Wow, I am impressed. That is a nice list!
'58 Impala 2n1, '49 Merc Custom 2n1, '41 Chevy Pickup, '48 Ford 'vert, '34 Ford hot rod, '32 Deuce hot rod in 1/8!
Thanks Revell!!

I use that Paasche booth also, and it works great for paint fume evacuation. I spray in a room in my basement and, outside of that room, nobody would know I was spraying lacquers. I route my vent tube out my little sliding basement window. I made a plywood window insert with the tube epoxied into it. When not in use, the insert/tube rest on the inside windowsill. When it's paint time, slide open the window, pop in the insert, and spray. I highly recommend you get one of these booths!

I'm a big fan of those salt flat specials too but...I like the Aoshimas on this Camaro. The size is just right, and it's got a great pro touring look. Just my two cents.
Nice fender flares, by the way!

Whew, that's a lot of half-round. That black body is sooooo nice!
-
Looking good, Irvin! I enjoy seeing everyone's rendition of these kits.

I've used the "headlights" off of a Hotwheels RigorMotor 1/64 diecast. You get two shift knobs for 99 cents or less. The RigorMotor just got re-released in 2006, so they're all over right now too. It's a ripoff of Grandpa Munster's dragster - a coffin-shaped dragster.
They're a little big - wouldn't fit in a 1/25 scale palm - but aren't cartoonishly large, especially for trad hot rods.
Another kit source is the Monogram 1/24 '30 Woodie. That has a chrome shifter & skull knob.

You nailed the stance, Billy! Great job, nice paint, and way to go on the "pre-paint BMF" work!
-
Marc, that's lookin' mean right out of the gates! For what it's worth (not much), I like the wheels under it in these photos. They're tough lookin.
-
Good to see your work again, Steve! I was just wondering the other day where you went. The chopper looks great. Nice save on the fender too!
-
Count me in!

Welcome Mark! Post some pix of those desert racers, would ya?
-
Welcome JR! Good to have you here. I enjoyed meeting and talking to you at NNL East.
(I don't think I'm old enough to know about your "stay awake methods." Maybe someday...)
-
Nice job, Andy! Your engine bay detailing is perfect. Keep up the great work.
-
Nice one! It's got the look. Is that tinted plastic sheet you used for the windows?
-
  The styling is great and the workmanship top-notch! I see a few ideas I'll have to "borrow" - hehe. Great build, Lyle.
-
Ken, thanks for the Big Lots tip! I just stopped by my local store at lunch and got a "springer donation chopper" for $6. Maybe I'll cut the forks closer to stock length and have a springer frontend for my old school bobber build.
-
Gregg, If it's for your chopper you're building for NNL West, and you can wait - a leading resin supplier will be offering one sometime in the next month or two...
-
The raked out Crusader looks great! I had that one first, then got an Aces Wild a few weeks back. My Aces will be raked like yours. Keep up the great work!
-
Jeff, that looks great with the decals on that color! Nice pipe work too.
-
Wicked! That is looking so good. I love your use of the skull air cleaner with the addition of the two venturi tubes.
Springer fork looks to be from an $8 diecast I've seen on eBay? I just picked up a Shaker Trike that will donate the stretched springer forks to my next chopper.

Did that car just eat a canary?
One of you "modern day mudslingers" should graft some '67 GTO clips on there and mimic a red Hotwheels I saw a few years back.
Definitely some custom possibilities here for retro-look, pro-touring ponycars.
Here is my finished 56 Merc!!!!!!!!!

WOW.
So beautiful. You should be proud, Irvin. Congratulations on the award!
