Nice one, Andy! No clear? Wow, that's some great paint slingin'!
Great idea on the radiator hoses. Taillights are sweet too. I like it a lot! Gotta get going on my '40 now...

Thanks Brian. I'm thinking the Baldwin kit might be the street kit with Halibrands, short pipes, scooped hood, and drag slicks as optional parts. I found this internet modeler link via google http://www.internetmodeler.com/2001/july/cars/rm_cobra.htm
It shows the Baldwin built up with street bumpers, 2x4 intake, Cobra valve covers, and long side pipes. The chrome on the front bumper and side pipes looks nice.
I have a lead on a Baldwin kit at the LHS, so I'll swing by tonight and pick it up. Thanks again!

Are these the same kit? The black "Baldwin-Motion drag Cobra" and the "Shelby Street Cobra" molded in red with Carroll on the box top?
I've read that the Baldwin kit has "extra parts".
Do either of these issues suffer from the "satin chrome" my Metalflake blue-molded one does? Thanks for any info!

Lee - you're right. I just "photo-chopped" that image on my PC and the shorter bed is better. And Tom's pics prove it!
Tom - thanks for those! I was planning the same wheelcovers too - Fiestas. I have a can of Pactra RC car "Grape Pearl" reserved for the '34...
-
Thanks guys!
Marc, I prefer a '50s/early '60s look, so the "Little '50" will have whitewalls and steelies or full wheelcovers, most likely.
Andy, color plan is Tamiya Lt. Pearl Green with a black shop logo script on the doors.

With the heat and hum-ditty here lately, I've been avoiding paint work. Been hackin' on these two pickups though. The '50 Ford uses the Reps & Mins chopped cab (master by Lyle) and smoothed hood and is channeled and sectioned all over. Channeled 4in, bed shortened 10in, rear fenders shortened 3in and moved back...
The '34 is channeled and sectioned in the cab, bed channeled to the rails. I still have to chop it 4in...
Thanks for lQQkin'. Stay cool!

What a great color! Nice save. Definitely wide whites with covers or caps. Scallops would be icing on the cake.

WOW.
You are the "Scale TruFlame Master!" Very nice paint work.
-
NICE!
I espcially like the subtle custom hood scoop and engine induction choice. Great color combo too!
-
That yellow looks great on the Z06! Beautiful polish work.
I always enjoyed watching your builds progress, glad to see them here now.

Is this resin trans-kit for the Monogram '41 still available? Here's a beautiful built-up from the Merced NNL this past June. (Image lifted from comborider's Fotki account.) Thanks!

Lookin' good, Walt! If you want, how about Radir mags up front and steelies/slicks out back? A weekend racer. Either way, it's gonna be tough lookin!
ps - I can't make it out to 'Cuse this weekend.
-
That looks great, Billy! I like the old roundy-round cars.
-
Great chop! Thanks for the step-by-step tutorial. And yes, it does look better!
-
I like them all!

Len, maybe the Tamiya is hotter than Testors? I know the Testors lacquer system is two part - color & clear - for all their colors. I've read that if you don't seal the color with clear it may remain slightly tacky.
Since Tamiya cures and polishes well without clear, maybe it's hotter. Your experience sure sounds like it is. Either way, thanks for the heads-up!

I do a lot of my browsing and shopping from Modelhaus on their website. The way the 'Hot Rod Tires' are laid out it can sometimes be hard to navigate. I put together this spreadsheet and grabbed a GIF image to share. All the data is from the Modelhaus website. If you want this, just right click the image to save or print. Hope it helps!

She looks great, Billy! Glad to see the tires put to good use too!

'20 T-bucket, '29 Pickup, '32 3 window, '32 Lowboy, '37 Pickup. I love early Ford hot rods!

I love it! New black 300s with nice wheels are all the rage now, and I love seeing them in traffic. The styling of the car may polarize people for or against it, but it sure is different! Your model is beautiful.
-
Whoa, whatta croozer! She's a beauty, Steve. You got everything just right with this one. This may be my new favorite car in your stable. Nicely done!

Thanks everyone!
BigTruck - the front wheels & tires are from the Modelhaus (part #T-110 tires). The rear wheels are optional parts out of the Beatnik Bandit, in slicks from the Miss Deal AWB Studebaker.
The finned Buick drums are from an AMT '65 Riviera, and the backing plates, dropped axle, and split wishbones are from a 1/24 Monogram '32 Roadster. I sent all the front end parts out to be chromed.

Hi everybody!
I guess I'm the latest cross-over from elsewhere online. Glad to see familiar names here, and ones I haven't seen in a while! (Bob Downie, Bill Geary, etc.)
I'll post builds on the rare occasion that I finish one (!), and help out with info & parts when I can.
I'm Matt, and I'm a hot rod-aholic.

I agree with Walt.
Mr. Downie, you are a craftsman, sir!
