those are some nice looking flares you know what would be really cool ? if you could slap in some mickey thompson sportsman tires in there and STILL get em to rub the fenders
-
it seems to work for me plus, it is cheap...especially compared to materials inteded for model cars i have a pint sized tube that i paid 6 bucks for or so should last me a while it is (as mentioned) a bit fumey but i can live with that
-
thanks i used bondo glazing putty takes about 30 minutes to dry and sand way better then you would expect from, it doesnt get as rock hard as the 2 part stuff
-
its all good, that just means i did well puttying it right ? and that car reminded me of a opel i used to have when i was young :> in true lowrider style i want this body to have not even the slightest hint of speed or performance left before i even start the paint job (unless someone acidentally open the hood to reveal the tube chassis)
-
nice to know im crazy lol glad you aprove go right ahead and copy anything you like unless you already build one and then ill need to see pics
-
i did use ever green but then i slapped some glazing putty over top of it so i can smooth it out later (the evergreen alone looked too much like it was added, not like it was part of the original design
-
thanks im pretty sure the speakers were optional iether in the ford focus tuner kit or the acura RSX ive had em in my stash for a while and seemed to fit this build
-
well, let me first apoligize for building what is called a lowrider but i had an idea for a decal/paintscheme that would really look terrible on a decent car but on a lowrider i could get away with it this is the kit im starting out with (i mainly got it because i wanted the driver and decided to give the tools included to my nephew) of course i can not have a race engine in a lowrider (even if it is a pontiac engine) so a new mill is in place i looked around my garage a bit and finally dug out this old deal its a 302 cross barrel from a 69 camaro Z28 (not finished yet but none of this kit is) on to the interior nothing to spectacular here i decided to cut out the roll cage aswell as the windowscreen found some seats from i dont know what and put in some speakers from a focus tuner kit and finally, the body so far i have done very little to it i slapped on some rear wheel skirts but thats about it i got some wheels coming in the mail one of these days (i hope) and that is about it i think not sure where i go from here ill try to make it look halfway decent but then again im really just building it as a canvas for my decal/paint vision so if anyone has any suggestions or input , as usual, its apreciated

use a wire nut (you know, the lil thingamabobbers you use to connect the two wires the lazy way rather then soldering them) just cut of the tail end and paint it all done like this one

I want to do a model of my dirtbike.
diymirage replied to Corvette.Jeff's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
gotta love those vintage yamahas i used to have a 75 yamaha RD250 it was given to me because it didnt run took me almost 2 days to get her going again kinda regret selling her but i didnt have a endorsment back then so i bought what i thought was a moped turned out anything in michigan which has a manual gearbox is considered a motorcycle so now i got my endorsment and this is what i scoot around town on its a 1988 yamaha DT50LC not bad for a 50 CC lol by the way, gray if jeff declines the dirtbike id love to take it of your hands -
anyone know how to make a nitrous bottle
diymirage replied to doug2013's topic in Tips, Tricks, and Tutorials
not sure how one would go about making it from scratch but a lot of time they come with tuner kits come to think of it...i might have one laying around you could have just let me know and ill shoot it out to you -
i havent yet because i have only used them on "new" engines if i were to build a beater where i wanted the engine to look old then i would slap some grime on there
-
it seems to be a sort of metal wire so it bends very nicely it holds the benp perfectly
-
gotta start somewhere bro keep in mind this is a great place for advice so when you are ready yo go past the OOB builds you will be able to find the awnsers to your questions here it is kinda like swimming you just start by getting your feet wet nothing to major at first, maybe try slapping in some engine mods or a few body ad ons just take it one step at a time
-
im in well, i will be ones i bolt this beast... into this beast the only other ford i could run is a tiny lil focus did i mention it has a blown 572 in it ?
-
not a problem just take it one kit at a time and you'll get there also keep in mind that we're all a good buncha guys here so if your kit comes with wheels you dont like trade em of if it has the wrong engine....trade it or maybe it came with some slicks someone needs and you can trade em for a blower and so on and so forth
-
i bought what was called "beading wire" on ebay i think i payed 4 dollars for a set of 6 different colours
-
invest in a micromesh polishing kit it should run you about 20 dollars or so it will give you sheets of mesh in 3200 3600 4000 6000 8000 12000 this wil allow you to wetsand a clear coated finish (or even bare plastic, i have seen this done on colour molded kits with amazing results) to a mirror shine as always, the better the body the better the primer the better the base coat the better the top coat the better the clear coat the better the end result (and the less polishing is required) one tip though, be very carefull when polishing i have done about half a dozen models and i seem to very often come dangerously close to polishing through the clear, top and even base coat to reveal primer or bare plastic on those tricky corners like fenders or molded in detail it takes some finesse but i think it is well worth the effort
-
thats amazing between the wheels, paint and smooth body that looks like a 2010 cuda i strongggggggggly suggest slapping in a drivetrain from a 09 challenger RT
-
thanks for the rims shoot me a PM when you get them and we'll talk buisness as for the lights, i light to brush on a very light coat (sometimes even watered down) of either yellow (old cars) or blue (new cars) on the inside of the glass it seems to do the trick i know several people on here will download and print pictures of headlights which then then print on photopaper and glue to the model looks very good aswell for the tail lights, i use tamiya clear red paint i just paint it over the inside of the tail light lenses or over the chrome love the rims on the 'stang but i would like to make one suggestion....drop the front end a few scale inches i think it would look better if the body came down over the tires
-
looks like you of to a good start id like to suggest you use a photobucket account though its a lot easier to upload as many pics as you want and they show up much larger which makes it easyer for all of us to see as for the rims, i dont have any cobra rims but let me know if you want to trade of those slowrider rims/tires cos i could use them for a project i have in the works
-
i like how it is a real mini and not one of those newfangled bmw wannabees also, i really like the smudges on the guy working on it, makes it look nice and realistic
-
looking nice if you are going for british racing green you should drop in a powerplant to back it up find yerself a nice little jagiwire (read jaguar) mill (or a HEMI, cant go wrong with a hemi)
