  1. I agree. I hate taking in-progress pictures, other than just quick hand-held cell phone pics. Anybody that takes the time to set up a backdrop and take quality in-progress pics certainly has my respect.
  2. Here's Bill Geary's. Some of the pictures are dead. http://www.modelcarsmag.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=22834
  3. I'd be interested too. I often have customers ask about basic tutorials. And I could always use a little remedial education myself! At one time there was a good one on here, but I believe the OP left and his posts were deleted.
  4. A young kid, maybe 12-13 years old kit just bought one of these at the shop. Thought it was his dad getting it, but he took out his wallet and paid for it himself. Asked him why we was buying it he said "it looks cool". I take that as a good sign. Sucks that he took the last from our RPP shipment, I was going to buy another for a street freak build. Oh well , now I'll just have to wait for our regular shipment in a few days.
  5. Pretty much any household cleaning product cleans Tamiya acrylic. Windex, Formula 409, Fantastik, Rubbing Alcohol, etc... Soap and water will clean out of a brush it if it hasn't dried too much.
  6. They might be. They're just a little bit smaller OD than the Revell Vette tires. About a scale 1.5" smaller. Now I need to find some AMT Keystones...
  7. Mockup with kit wheels and tires. The tires from Revell's 62 Vette can be used with minimal modification to the front wheels . Trim the lugs off the wheels and they fit fine. The wheels will need to be narrowed to fit. Shows promise. They might be a little too tall, though. Still looking. Somebody needs to come up with a good Stock class front tire...
  8. Stumbled across this thread last night, tons of potential SS/DA cars in there. Just need the shaker hood from the stock kit and a Torqueflite and you're there. http://board.moparts.org/ubbthreads/showflat.php?Cat=0&Number=6344980&page=6&fpart=all&vc=1 This one is pretty cool - the "Sun Kissed Cuda"
  9. And there's also a couple small sponsor stickers missing off the front fenders, Fram and Champion Spark Plugs (they could never print those in register anyway!) Also there's only the "Drag 500" part for the tires. I'm guessing these were all omitted to avoid licensing fees. I'm holding out hope for a VRM decal sheet with their engine-turned gold and silver leaf treatment. They're amazing, I have their Kurtis Midget decals. I've been mocking up several potenial street machines with the stock hoods from the 2 n 1. I'm really regretting filling in the marker lights and mirror mounts on both bodies I have, now I'm going to have to pick up another!
  10. I don't know, those PCB brushes are usually pretty stiff. The Tamiya brush is more similar to camera lens brushes, those start around $15, but most are in the $25 range. I don't have enough completed models to worry about keeping them clean!
  11. I don't own one (yet) but I've sold quite a few. I don't have very many built models to keep clean! Here's a little youtube video of it in action. Looks like it's everything it's cracked up to be. It may not be worth it to everyone. http://youtu.be/1mfTZFaJ_TY
  12. Revell's new-tool Hawaiian has a one-piece Logghe chassis. Might be a viable alternative if the multipiece frame gives anyone problems. I've never tried to kitbash the two, though, I'm only assuming it'll work. Those Polar Lights funnies are tricky from what I've read.
  13. I mentioned Bob's model in a post 3 days ago and nobody said a word. http://www.modelcarsmag.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=90852&p=1206693
  14. More E-body hole-through-the-oil-pan goodness. Note that the sump on the stock oil pan was in the middle, but drag racers want a rear-sump pan because that's where the oil wants to go under acceleration. So they had to get creative... An actual Sox & Martin fabricated aluminum pan (most likely from later than 1970 due to the scavenger line holes, those didn't come into Pro Stock until a couple of years later) This one's probably more like what was on the 1970 car.
  15. Tamiya makes a special brush for this purpose if you're feeling fancy... Gets rid of static electricity. http://www.tamiyausa.com/items/tools-accessories-80/tools-74000/model-cleaning-brush-74078
  16. Love that 'cuda, Marcos! Can't wait to see it in the magazine. How's this for cool - a stock 'cuda (with shaker hood) in Sox & Martin colors! From the 1970 Chicago Auto Show. I'm guessing it's just a gussied-up show car since there's no record of Sox & Martin running a Super Stock car that year. I wish I could find more pictures, but this is the only one I've seen.
  17. It is Model Car World. http://www.mcwautomotivefinishes.com/paint/racelist.html Sox & Martin '68+ - 6452 white, 6853 blue, 6861 red
  18. One of the model paint companies sells authentic Sox and Martin colors. Model Car World I believe, I'll check. For my TLAR model I'll probably just used Tamiya Pure White, Italian Red, and Mica Blue. I saw a Sox and Martin built in one of the magazines using those colors and it looked plenty good and I already have all in stock.
  19. I think "Ralphie" could be a Cupertino for a misspelling of "early". So maybe "early centuries". Not sure if that means early 20th century, early 21st century, or early Buick Centuries... Anywho, back to the OP, I don't have to venture too far out on a limb to say there will no doubt be plastic kits of the new Vette. It's a no brainier. There's plastic promos coming in the next month (interested to see by who) if there's not a kit out or at least an announcement of a kit by the end of the year I'll eat my hat.
  20. I do. NASCAR is for all intents and purposes a spec-class series. For better or for worse, they want it that way. My point is that it's been that way for longer than most would think, and it was that way at the height of its popularity.
  21. We've already established that fact. Still, if anyone remembers that as the day 5 Oldsmobiles lapped the field, please speak up!
  22. And all baseball players have to use a bat of a single basic design. The particulars are left up to the individual. They can't go up there with a cricket bat or a tennis racket!
  23. And there's no rule that says NASCAR drivers have to set their cars up the exact same way, same shocks, same springs, same tire pressure, etc...
  24. Yeah, but I must have seen the replay on ESPN Classic a hundred times. Plus my Granddad used to remind me about it every year when the 500 came on.
  25. Ah-ha! Makes total sense. There is a Stewart Warner decal on the front fender, so I'd assume that was the supplier. I don't plan on adding much detail, but really just working with what's in the box to produce a semi-accurate model. There are several cases of correction by omission on this one (battery, alternator, brake booster, wheel well trim, etc...).
