  1. Oh I know it happens, but what got me so fired up was that the people did it THAT CLOSE to a house! I have seen / heard of people doing stuff like that in unpopulated areas, but that was just plain stupidity! Well, I'm going to try and get some sleep before I get riled up again... -Scott H.
  2. Oh I can understand, TRUST ME!!! Back when I was helping a friend with his A/C business, I had to drive into a Welfair housing complex. I honestly thought I had gone into the wrong place when I saw the 3 BRAND NEW Cadillacs in there with PAPER dealer tags, several Lincolns, and 2 totally tricked out show cars. 1 of them had the Chameleon Flip-Flop paint that had JUST hit the market and was totally chromed out. The other had a bowling ball paint job and EVERY piece that could be 24 carat GOLD plated was!!! Both of the cars had about as much stereo equipment in them to stock a small shop! Seriously, I had to go over to them to get the music turned down so we could hear if the A/C unit that we were working on was making any funny noises. Here I am working 2 jobs at the time (my 9-5 normal job and then helping my friend when I was off work) to make ends meet and people are sitting on their butts collecting a check from MY taxes and driving nicer cars than I am! The lady that we had to go to her house because her A/C was not working right had a Diamond Ring on her finger with a rock bigger than my CIGARETTE butt, and was constantly trying to rush us because she had to get to her CATERED party that she was throwing for her daughter's 9th birthday!!! Oh, the problem with the A/C??? She was either too lazy or felt that it was beneath her to change the filter... Well, I think I can FINALLY get some sleep now so I'm going to try to catch an hour or two. -Scott H.
  3. I knew times were getting rough for some people, but I just realized how STUPID people are getting! I was woke up at around midnight by a sound of a car speeding by the house and sliding around the corner I live on, followed by some loud pops and a horn blaring. I walked outside and started taking a look around to see what was going on. What I found was a car down in the court of the TINY subdivision I live in that looked like it was ON FIRE!!! 911 got a call immediately and I am totally appreciative that the Fire Department was on their toes and in less than 10 minutes they were on the scene, putting the car out! I went down to make sure that it wasn't a wreck and no one was trapped in there, only to find it was totally engulfed in flames. At that point I stuck around to make sure no one was going to try and put it out themselves and getting hurt or even worse. Waking up dead in the morning would NOT be a good thing!!! Once the fire dept. and the cops got there they both said it looks like it was ANOTHER drop & burn since it was a 2007 SUV, the key wasn't broken out, the rims were still on it, and the stereo system wasn't removed. They also said that they had been getting quite a few of these lately. Now I'm SEVERELY upset and can't get back to sleep! Where they dropped it off to torch it there was a house less than 100 feet away, 2 houses less than 200 feet away on both sides of the road that have SMALL CHILDREN living in them, and less than 400 feet away there is a house with a couple that are BOTH over 60 AND one of their parents is living with them too! If the gas tank had blown up and caught the houses on fire, there is a good chance that those people would have been seriously hurt!!! I'm also upset that because it seems that some people have decided to go out and purchase things they COULDN'T AFFORD the first place and MY insurance is going up because they are torching the cars they bought and now can't pay for!!! Sorry for the rant, but it's just amazing to me how people can be SO STUPID and CARELESS of other people's property and lives!!! -Scott H.
  4. Art, Thank you for correcting me on that! I was going by what the adds I found described it as. I would honestly feel bad if they bought one to modify for their project and wasted their money because it ended up being the wrong scale. Thanks again, -Scott H.
  5. When Santa checked on the toy production line, he found that several of the elves had gotten sick. The trainee elves did not produce toys as fast as the regular ones and Santa began to feel the Pre-Christmas pressure because of it. A few minutes later Mrs. Claus told Santa her Mother was coming to visit, which stressed Santa even more. Then he went to harness the reindeer. He found that three of them were about to give birth and that two others had jumped the fence and were out, heaven knows where. When he began to load the sleigh, one of the floorboards cracked and the toy bag fell to the ground. All the toys were scattered. Frustrated, Santa went in the house for a cup of apple cider and a shot of rum. When he went to the cupboard, he discovered the elves had drank all the cider and had hidden the rest of the liquor. In his frustration, he threw the cider jug and it broke into hundreds of little glass pieces all over the kitchen floor. He went to get something to clean it up with and found that mice had eaten all the straw off the end of the broom. Then the doorbell rang repeatedly. An irritated Santa marched to the door, yanked it open and yelled: "What do you want?" There stood a little angel with a great big Christmas tree. The angel said very cheerfully: "Merry Christmas, Santa, isn't this a lovely day? I have a beautiful tree for you. Where would you like me to stick it?" And so began the tradition of the little angel on top of the Christmas tree...
  6. I just did a quick search for 1/25th Dodge Power Wagon and came up with this... Power Wagon Results The ones I found on the site were Diecasts made by ERTL. Hope this helps, -Scott H.
  7. If you're not stuck on the 1/24th - 1/25th scale, there is a couple of kits of the Dodge Power Wagon in the smaller 1/35th military scale sizes... Other than that, you're going to have to be hitting the resin casters I'm afraid. Sorry I couldn't help any better, -Scott H.
  8. There is NO WAY I could have been in that picture... I would have been laying on the floor from laughing at the fool so hard I fell down!!!! Here's an old one that has been around for years... Herculiner Problem Warning!!! There are a ton of pages to that thread!!!! -Scott H.
  9. Thank you for letting me know. With the question marks behind the previous statement about where the seats came from, I wasn't sure about it. I am wanting something similar to that design so I can try to update the interior of one of the street rods I started building years ago and recently pulled out of the box to see where I was at on it. Looks like I'm going to be diving into the boxes of models I have once more to see if I have the Ford kit to rob the seat from. Hopefully when I start cutting it down to fit in the body I won't kill it too bad. I haven't seen any bodies for the 80's to 90's Deville either. After seeing how many resin bodies you have in the background of your pictures, I was thinking if someone might know it would be you. Looks like I'm out of luck as usual. Thanks again, -Scott H.
  10. That's a good start, I am definitely going to be checking back in on this one! I have 2 questions for you though: 1. What kit is the rear seat from? 2. Do you know if they have a body available for the late 80's early 90's Deville? The reason I'm asking is I have a '93 Deville 60 Series that I would love to have a scale replica of. Thanks and keep up the updates! -Scott H.
  11. You beat me to it! I used the exact same website to make my plates and save them to my computer. Once I have them there, I open the file in Paint Shop Pro 8 and scale it to the right size & print off a test plate on regular paper to check and see if I have it done correctly. Once I am satisfied with the plate, I print it out on Photo Quality Paper and use Elmer's White Glue to attach it to the model. I will say I either print out several License Plates at a time or some other picture I want that takes up most of the paper. Using a full piece of Photo Paper for 1 license plate would get expensive QUICK! Here's an example of the plates you can get from Acme: I just went to the site and made those just to provide a quick example of what is available. Anything you wish can be written on the license plate, be it letters or numbers. The CAPS LOCK is your friend on that site! No state license plate has ever used lower case letters to my knowledge. You need to check out how many letters are allowed for custom plates in the state you are wanting to make if you are going to use something other than the standard 3-3 format. The plates will stretch longer for more letters than the state allows, so be careful as it is not going to look right. You will have to make the month / year sticker part of the plate if you want them to be 100% correct, but I haven't done it yet and no one has complained about it. Of course now that I have said that, the next one I leave them off of is going to be nailed! One last thing and then I'm going to quit adding to this post... They have the US State License plates and some of the Canadian Province license plates, but they do not have all of the years or designs! There are some plates that you just are not going to find unless you take a picture and scale down an actual plate. Hope this helps, -Scott H.
  12. My Unicorn isn't exactly one kit per say, but a collection of smaller models... For the life of me, I just haven't been able to get a Diorama to look right to save my life! I have a drafting back ground, so planning everything out on paper has never been a real problem for me. It's just getting everything from 2D to 3D that I never have been all that great at. I have full plans on remedying the problem though as I'm going to get one right if it kills me! Hopefully it's not going to take running a '72 Mustang Sportroof into a light pole on a highway (original) or jumping a '67 Mustang GT500 over a crash scene (remake) for me to get it right! -Scott H.
  13. I just signed up for it myself. I hope it goes well for you and the gripes / problems / fights are kept to a minimum! If you need a bouncer over there, just let me know! -Scott H.
  14. Thanks! That truck is sweet! I've always liked the looks of the old commercial vehicles for some reason, and the odd balls like that always fascinate me. I guess it's because you just don't see many of them around anymore. Everyone kept the cars alive for later generations to see, but hardly anyone keeps a truck around. Thanks again, -Scott H.
  15. Nice pics! Before I take the time to load up your pictures on photobucket (I'm on dial-up and it takes FOREVER), would you by chance happen to have more pictures of the Coke Truck in the background of the Red GTO??? -Scott H.
  16. I definitely like your Bug! I'm torn on doing my IMC Bug Stock or Drag like yours. I like the stock look of them, but they just look too good when done in the Gasser Style! I've never seen the Union kit, but both the IMC ones I have owned have been molded in white. The first one was in the late 70's and I was the first one that opened it. Maybe they had different colors during the run like the other manufacturers do? Here's a couple of pics of the one I found a while back and am wondering if it looks like the kit you have. It's a Glue Bomb like yours started out as... You wouldn't by chance happen to have a set of instructions that you could scan and send to me would you? I would be most appreciative since this one did not come with them. I mostly need them to make sure everything is in there. Thanks for posting this, it's giving me inspiration on being able to fix mine! -Scott H.
  17. Thanks for posting the picture! It answered my question perfectly. I have the same kit already, except it is the RCHTA release. ***The following is based on the kit I have - I have not seen the new kit*** As far as the T-Tops go in the kit, you DO NOT have to build it that way! The model comes with a solid roof and you have to cut the top for the optional T-Top parts. The Landau top is also a separate piece that you don't have to use if you don't wish to. As far as the bike & trailer, I have found that the Honda CB 750 engine is a good representation of a real one, but if you want to put a bigger tank on the frame, you're going to have some major work to do. The frame also has some fitment issues, but those are easy to overcome. The trailer also needs to have the missing parts of the frame sides added for it to look like an actual trailer, but this is an omission from the original design of the kit. Hope this helps, -Scott H.
  18. If you need info on the Chevrolet Nova, check out NovaResource.com. It's run by Scott Windle and he has been gathering information on these cars for years! Fair warning though, He has used Microsoft products to make it and it's best viewed with Internet Explorer. I figured I would share one of my better resources for my real cars. If you would like more, just ask. I've been dealing with Novas since I was given my first one (a 1969 4 door) at 8 years old. Hope this helps, -Scott H.
  19. They're used to haul the HUGE dump trucks and cranes that the mining companies use. There was a TV show on not too long ago on how the dump trucks were built and it showed one being transported on a trailer almost exactly like that. The wheels / tracks of the load actually hang off the sides and the trailer supports the load by the frame. That way the load sits lower on the trailer and the truck can go on the roads without having to have power lines and such removed. Hope this helps, -Scott H.
  20. Does anyone know if there is a conversion for the Trumpeter Nova to the 1965 Body Style? I have the '65 Altered Wheel base (Rat Packer) model and would like a stock bodied one to go with it. Thanks, -Scott H.

    63 Nova SS

Nope, no 4 cylinder SS Novas as far as I know. They were available with the 6 cylinder only as far as all the information I have read or the people I have talked to has told me. From what I understand, the V8 became the standard issue engine in the SS models starting in the 66-67 body styles, with the 283 as the base engine and the 327 as the optional upgrade. If you need info on these cars, check out NovaResource.com. It's run by Scott Windle and he has been gathering information on these cars for years! I've had a passion for these cars ever since my sister gave me a 1969 4 door Nova when I was 8 years old. I actually owned that car until just a few years ago, but unfortunately Rust and a tree falling across it finally did it in. I currently have a 1965 Nova 4 door with the 194 CI 6 Cylinder in it and a 1969 Nova 2 door with the 153 CI 4 cylinder (Engine is in the garage under a workbench - a 250 CI 6 cylinder is in it right now until I can find replacement motor mounts for the 4!) ============================================================================== Now on to the model, I definitely like it! The only thing I never have liked on these models is the outside rear view mirror is waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay too tall! On the real cars, they are much shorter and the base is narrower. -Scott H.
  22. Does the Monte Carlo have 1 headlight per side or 2? I had a 1979 Monte Carlo (Single headlight per side) model years ago and wouldn't mind finding another one since there is a real 1979 Monte Carlo sitting in my parent's garage. Please let me know, -Scott H.
  23. I'm glad to hear that she has made a good recovery! Hopefully the docs have everything figured out and there will be no repeats of the incident! Sorry to hear that you have to make the return trip so soon though. I know you would have liked to spend some time with her OUT of the hospital! -Scott H.
  24. If I were in your shoes, I would definitely wait until I could see the tanker kit and decide what to do from there. From what you are describing it is almost exactly what you are looking for. Rounded top, squared off lower sides, and a square box section on the back with doors for the hoses. I can't remember if they opened or not and I can not find my kit for the life of me so I could get pictures for you to see it. Just my 2 cents, -Scott H.
  25. That would make a difference then! The Hoby Shop owner I was dealing with at the time said he ordered it for a 1/25th, but I was wondering about it then and now I know he didn't order it right. I've done that many times myself. I'll be looking at something and decide to wait and think about it or until I have more available funds and when I go back it's gone. Now either I buy it on the spot or I figure it wasn't meant to be mine and walk away planning on it not being there later. If it's still there when I go back, I get it and feel lucky about it. Thanks again, -Scott H.
