I personally lile buying older diecast cars and trucks from the 40's and newer and bringing them back to life with new paint and redetailing them, even the generic looking ones.
-
I've done both kits "AMT/POLARLIGHTS" and the I personally think the amy is the better of the two and from what I have seen of the ihobby photos it looks like there doing the older amt one.

As long as there is no"Human"parts in the box, then I'm good.

Don't worry we've all have done that some point in our lives.

I showed this stroy once before and I think it needs to be read again.I also belong to this site and the owners wife makes a really good point,so when others think I spend alot on my hobby I have them read this.

AMT 1950 Chevy Pick Up
REV 1932 Ford
REV 1950 Ford
REV 1941 Wyllis
REV 1955 Chevy Belair
I would say those are definitely in my top five.
you left out the Rev 1957 chevy
1959 big pinkcaddy
1959 impala
-
I left out a kit, the dukes police car, have you seen the engine bay of this thing, and the gap you gotta fill in from the wheelwells to the body at the most a half inch in some spots
-
ok here's a few that I can think of
Number 1 Lindberg 40' Ford Coupe,Can you say craptacular,I knew it waqs time to stop when I broke out the palm sander to help fix the body.
Number 2 Ah yes this one or both since there the same kits with just the grill added for the second one AMT/MPC Dukes General Lee Charger,AMT F&F 70' Charger, the only way I could make that a nice kit was scrap the chassis system and grab the on from AMT's 1969 Road Runner/GTX/SuperBee kits.
Number 3 Revellograms VW BUG KITS lots ok clean up and new fire wall to start.
thats all I can think of right now

You know,I'm ok with this.
I know I can buy the Mustang or Bel Air I want and build it the way I want without someones handy down problems and I can do it right the first time.
Yes It's not old metal but if GM and Ford are ok with this and they admit the metal is better than what they used way back when with safer welds, then to me it's really a non issue.
Hmmmmmmmm a Black Belair with Crager rims and a nice new crate 350 with red and white seats.

I wouldn't mind a old Checkered Cab kit

The last few years I have been happy about the 57 chevy kits that have been released but I agree it istime for a break,I do like the current crop of kits coming out,But I would like to see maybe some anualls of either everyday cars or truck like what was done back in the sixty's thought the mid ninety's.
Trucks are a good seller and it's always nice to see whats coming out but lets face it on that one for example revell drop the ball a few years back with the release of the Dodge Ram sport truck, theres a example of something they couldve done with a long box 3 n 1 also,And one of Amt's biggest mistake is they only kept releasing chevy trucks and not really offering anything diffrent, plus the fact they only release limited runs through certin modeling websites"Model King,Model Round Up,etc"when those could be kits that should be released threw everyone else.
But this years kits are very promising and lets hope it gets better, with much new subjects or stuff we haven't seen in years"ten or more years to be exact".
-
I've givin some thought to this whole model renaissance thread and I say let it happen and I dont care what is offered and how old it is cause for alot of us younger guys who balk at evilbay price's I say this is a good thing.
-
thats looking really good so far.
-
also try thrift stores, most people get kits as gifts and have no clue or intrest in building it so they dump them at like a goodwill or salvation army or a deseret industresies thrift stores,Ive picked up many kits from the 60s or newer for about 2 bucks a kit.
-
I once a whole half of a engine and didnt find it till a year later out in the yard, how it got there I haven't a clue.

If you got $250k, it can be yours!!!!
Your ROI will take, what, three thousand lifetimes?
Seriously, not giving up, just so frustrated with it....
Unless someone has a better idea, or suggestions, or ?????
I hate to suggest it but maybe post a add for it in some compeditors magizine.
