Peterbilt 359 (Revell)
kwtrucker replied to vizio93's topic in WIP: Model Trucks: Big Rigs and Heavy Equipment
Billy, The Pete 359 kit your asking about is a good kit. It has a Cat 3406 engine in it, (straight 6). It has good detail for a snap tite kit and for the price. If you want to lower the Pete I have some directions on how to modify the suspension, if you want a copy. With a little work you can lower it like the green 359 in your two photos. Send me a pm if your interested in the directions. Doug -

The New Guy Needs Parts
kwtrucker replied to ki4dsy's topic in WIP: Model Trucks: Big Rigs and Heavy Equipment
Jason, I've never had to use putty on my resin parts. Never used an airbrush either. I sure there are some other members here who could answer your questions. -

Peterbilt 378 Heavy Transport Inc.
kwtrucker replied to Twist67's topic in WIP: Model Trucks: Big Rigs and Heavy Equipment
Chris, Your work on your Pete looks execllent. Your Detriot Series 60 looks great too. However if you didn't know your oil pan is mounted backwards! Your truck has a set forward front axle, the "sump" as they call it, the deep part of the oil pan, should be torwards the rear of the truck. Your's is mounted for a set back front axle right now. They're mounted this way on the real trucks so the axle will avoid hitting the oilpan. Just wanted to help you out. Keep up the great work. Doug -
Oil Patch rig up
kwtrucker replied to mackinac359's topic in WIP: Model Trucks: Big Rigs and Heavy Equipment
Tim, Your oilfield Pete looks excellent, nice build. Did you just use reference photos to build the winch bed or...? It looks great! Is your model going to be the same color as the real Pete in the photo? -
Rolling Parking Lot
kwtrucker replied to mackinac359's topic in WIP: Model Trucks: Big Rigs and Heavy Equipment
Tim, The car hauler is very nice. As you were wondering if they are called racks, I've always refered to the tread plate parts as "ramps". Anyway the color is nice, I love grey. If you build a trailer for it that would look great. I've been wanting to build a car hauler for several years, your's is very inspiring. Doug -
Hi Kurt, You have an interesting project started. Your progress so far looks good. That FLD SD would look good as a tractor or dumptruck. If your asking for input, how about a tractor with a frameless or frametype East end dump trailer? I've always thought of building some sort of end dump trailer, lots of scratchbuild though to say the least. What do you think? I'd put a DD S60 in it since you've already built the Pete with a Cat. Just my input. Thanks for sharing Kurt. Doug

kwtrucker replied to Brian 1959's topic in WIP: Model Trucks: Big Rigs and Heavy Equipment
Hi Brian, Welcome to the forum. If your looking to build a Pete 386, the hood conversion that the guys spoke of is now available at American Industrial Truck Models, website addy, www.aitruckmodels.com. This is the hood the Tim Ahlborn built the master for. It looks great. I've been building for a while, haven't finished anything in a while though. Doug -
2008 Kit Reissues
kwtrucker replied to mackinac359's topic in WIP: Model Trucks: Big Rigs and Heavy Equipment
You'd think Revell of Germany would make a modern truck kit in 1/25th scale to go with the Beall tank trailer, and that kit is on it's second release. -

NEW ITALERI PETE?
kwtrucker replied to 41CHEVY's topic in WIP: Model Trucks: Big Rigs and Heavy Equipment
chuckyr, I agree, that reefer trailer was a big dissappointment. It's bad enough that the trailer wasn't the right height, but the floor, ceiling and walls all come in two parts. The best thing that it can be built into is a grain trailer. Doug -

Scratchbuilt Lowboy Complete
kwtrucker replied to a topic in WIP: Model Trucks: Big Rigs and Heavy Equipment
Anthony, Your lowboy looks great. I really like those spoke wheels and tires you put on it. I'm planning on building one someday, just don't know when. You said you were thinking of building a Mack DM800 for it, that would look sharp with the lowboy. Keep up the good work. -
Hi all, I don't know if this topic has been brought up before, so I'll ask it anyway. If the kit manufacturers were to produce some new kits of modern trucks with modern engines and chassis and trailers also, what would you most like to see made? List just five you'd most like to see, trucks and/or trailers. My five are, 1) Any Peterbilt highway or vocational/construction truck 2) Mack Granite or Vision with sleeper 3) Kenworth T660 with 86" Studio Sleepr 4) International 9900ix with Pro sleeper 5) Great Dane 48'/53' x 102" Reefer with chrome front/rear doors and modern Thermo King or Carrier reefer unit, closed or spread tandems. I could list more but I thought five, because the list would just get out of control lol!
