  1. I'm going to go with model.. something just doesn't look right to me.. door lines
  2. First of all thanks for that link! I don't really want to order paints and stuff but I will for sure be picking up some things from there especially in the Diorama department Yeah only problem about forgetting walmart is there is no hobby shops around lol.. I went a decent little trip to this "ben franks" place that didn't have anything and their acrylics for the little tubes were $4 each and their color selection.. was terrible.. lol not even any normal colors it was strange.. there is a hobby lobby... but thats over 190+ miles round trip with no other reasons to go that way now acrylics what types are there? i know you mentioned against any enamel basically but walmart does have a large selection of some acrylic paints??I know you said forget it but my only other option is to order stuff.. and of course when I'm up around hobby lobby I'll make sure to take a lot of extra cash to stock up on things
  3. Well since walmart no longer stocks models or any model paints I have no clue what to do.. I went to the only crafty type of store around called "ben franks" and picked up a 71 cuda (a guy on here has recently completed the same kit but I want mine grabber green) but anyways.... I hear talk of people using an "acrylic" paint? I went to walmart and back in crafts they have a nice viriaty of them and for decent prices for the size of the containers... but will they work well? I think people on here mix with rubbing alcohal or stuff and thin the paint to use or something??? I just need info... being new to this all again I'm lost since I always depended on grabbing some little glass containers of paints beside the models at walmart... and also what spray paints are able to be used on models?? (oh and I only mess with plastic models) I need that special lime grabber green for my cuda.. but for now I'm just using the few containers of paint I have to work on my F100
  4. Thanks for the welcome guys, People around here seem a lot nicer than most forums I've been on. Thanks I googled and searched forever trying to find stuff but I never once tried looking for "weathered" any other time I always pulled up adds for people selling restoration project cars lol....I am going today to pick up paints, brushes, sand paper, a new set of Xacto knives, etc .. I've never been to this hobby shop before so I hope it has some stuff (In my little area we don't really have anywhere to go to get stuff) I plan on sticking around here.. modeling just REALLY interests me... I'm a huge car freak so doing models of dream cars is also a nice little thing to do except my style will be more of junk cars lol
  5. Haha thanks and I think what I like is the "weathered" style It interests me so much b/c it's custom but it's custom ugly.. it's so cool to make a good car bad when in real life you'd be doing the opposite... I "think" the truck I messed with when I was like idk 10? lol I know it's been a loonnng time Anyone have any info or pics of the junkyard cars that have been "wrecked" I love how that stuff looks and would love to learn more about this stuff Future projects! the 5-window coupe had the body painted yellow (just the main cab) so idk what I'm going to do with it I wish it hadn't have been painted other than that NOTHING has been touched besides the finished motor in the truck
  6. he's a home schooled over achiever he'll do like a weeks worth of work in one night rofl (FREAK) I'm a home schooled UNDER achiever.. I do a weeks worth of homework... in a week ...........most of the time... but trust me it gives you A LOT of free time lol especially when everyone is in school all day when homeschooling takes like 1/8th the time that it takes to sit in public school.. you learn the same amount but without wasting all that time going to classes and hearing rambling of everyone else.. LOL Dylan guess what! after wasting all that time yesterday trying to get new paints etc. (Walmart and K-mart dont stock any anymore!?!!?!?!?) I get to go to the hobby shop tomorrow! (it's an interesting drive so I wont be making it often) I'll look and see if they have any cars I know you'd love... if they do I'll get it!.... and use it to attempt my first junker j/k
  7. Hi everyone, My names Bobby and I'm 17 and very interested into getting into this more... I've mainly always done the prepainted plastic models and a lot of non painted ones (but I never painted the actual body) but that was when I was a lot younger and now I'm not so intimidated by messing up.. The style that REALLY interests me is what i think you guys call the "junk" style? Please do correct me when I'm wrong on the specific names that way It's easier for me to research. The pic is an old GM I messed with when I was younger.. I didn't have a clue what I was doing but I liked the making it look like junk aspect lol... I pulled it out of a box last night and took the pics.. I think I may do some more to it and use it as a diorama piece If I get confidant enough to go for that!
  8. HAHAHA Dylan, Diorama not diaphram I guess we signed up around the same time? (I know dylan from an ATV forum) we got to talking about diorama's and I guess he was more serious being interested than i thought! I ran across this forum hoping to find a place for tips and tricks on how to rust out cars etc. and I have to say I'm LOVING this site I want to see some pics of the models you've done! I'm a total noob to this and am wanting to get into this as well as for vehicles he works on he has a really cool 67 Chevy C10 with the rare small rear window that he's working on
