this is the model I actually chose to get me back into modeling.. as a kid I built quite a few of the pre-painted plastic kits from walmart and I've never actually finished a full model since those vanished.. I've actually been watching your youtube channel for inspiration while I work on it. nothing really accomplished yet.. sanded down just about all the parts and have glued the bed together.. I plan to paint it an army flat type green and make it look more like an old beater as best I can.

92 Ford faux-Runner

see this is the type of things I'm wanting to learn.. what did you use to make the flare? I hear the word "styrene" so much but no hobby store I've went to has a clue what I'm talking about I know I can order it online but that defeats the purpose when I never know what size I'll need.... oh yeah and what'd you use to stick them on? just glue? -
Trying to get back into this (be gentle stupid questions ahead)

thanks, yeah there are just some things tape wont hold together lol I have a nice big roll of masking tape for everything else. I'm trying to mock the whole front of the car up to see how well chopping the fenders off is going to work. I'm about to grab some chewing gum and stick it together I didn't know if there was some kind of substance people use for this or not -
What's the best thing to use to mock up builds? something sticky enough to hold it all together but wont cause damage when pulling it back apart? I'm trying to make sure some ideas I have for cutting and modding some models will work and don't want to ruin it by doing too much. also I see a lot of a red type of putty used when people cut up and mold in parts. What is this stuff? brand/alternatives is helpful? I don't have any local hobby stores so I'm hoping I can find stuff I need at a local hardware store or home depot. I'm really wanting to build something somewhat different.. I plan to make a volksrod which will be new for me since anything I've ever done has been 100% box stock.

now if only there was a model vr6 motor to put inside it. then it'd be a 1:1 I'd like to own I own a 95 gti a 96 jetta and a 2000 passat in real life.. I'm a little obsessed with them and if I didn't need a 4x4 so bad I know where a baby blue 80's convertable is in great shape, I'd almost be willing to buy it and gut my gti for the drivetrain... or at least swap in my 2.0 out of my jetta. all in all nice build you did it the way it should have been done.

There are a couple mk3 vw golf kits but what I really want is a mk3 GTI (2 door beast of a golf) it's the 93-99.5 model. I think skilled builders could easily fill in the door lines on the body and re carve into a 4 door and work out the door handle somehow but I sure don't have the skill. I just really want to build a copy of my 1:1. A resin vr6 motor would be really nice too! But I know it won't happen because I'm probably one of very few (if any) people that would want that. I'd be willing to pay extra if it meant making a replica of my 1:1 though.

hopefully they clearcoated it I think it's a nice look tho.. tribal-ish but it covers the whole car which I think looks amazing

HIDS and smoked fogs for me never need the actual performance of the amber ayway and the hids are bright enough to light everything up light daylight so no need for anything else.. but kind of cool about the logic of the amber lights being better etc. I never really knew why they were like that

why can't there be a little subsection for things like this.. it's fun to look at while waiting in between the official ROM

Best/Worst Winter Vehicles!
B-dub replied to Chuck Most's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
thought of another horrible one.. 06 chevy cobalt 2 door......... ...Lmao.. pretty bad when it's own weight send it sliding off the road from stopping at an idle.. that was just hilarious and some guy in a brand new suburban roasted his tires in 4wd pulling us out (with it loaded full of people) ... was a fun day for sure... -

well around here it doesn't get too bad but it does ice over often in the winter... best - 2001 ford taurus - hated the car but it sure was a tank and drove nice on ived over country roads - late 90's chevy fleet truck (stepdad's work truck) once you put it in 4wd you couldnt make it go sideways it would just straighten back up when you stomped on the gas -2007 trail blazer - .... had so much fun during last years ice storm in that thing... so so so much fun.. worst -97 pontiac grand am - even with traction control this thing is a nightmare .. I hate it in the winter -01 dodge intrepid.... what a crappy car anyways.. but I just hated it because it overheated in below freezing weather.. and didn't drive very well either... -
mmmmm... VW... following this for sure

B-dub replied to Custom Hearse's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
If I had a car like that I wouldn't have time for a cellphone I'd be too into driving that beast... then again he was probably texting "Oh I'm so awesome I'm in a veyron woo...." -splash- funny thing is .. that car was sold about an hour away from me -
I'm only going to say this once... build a copy of yours! then send it to me.. the 1:1

I have to post this, from 36,000 Feet!!!
B-dub replied to Gregg's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
haha.... guess there won't be any normal altitude planes in a diorama of 1/25 soon.. it'd have to be flying itself -
wow that thing is amazing.. I'm obsessed with vehicles like that (kind of creepy now that I think about it) lol.. it's not the killing part they just look so cool if that thing ever goes forsale I want to know about it haha!

yeah after riding around in my ex gf's 302 ford/chevy stepside I love the sound of the 302 plus that truck had more than enough power.. I have no need to die. the problem with that car is the door poppers on it (lost remote but the hatch is unlocked) was planning to get a remote and hiding a button somewhere... and apparently the title was signed by the guy he bought it from and never sent in.. so it was never cleared in his name.. it came down to having him contact the other owner or sending it in.. w/e was needed to clear the title.. I somewhat lost interest and havn't heard anything more about it.. actually I think I'll make a phonecall now.. and I love these models.. I may try to pick one up.. but I reallllly need to work on what I have
-
bad picture but this is the car I currently have pending. It's an 85 gt 5 speed and plans were to take the knocking 302 out and put a 351 in it. Finish up all mechanical parts, Strip the paint, primer it. Restore the interior and then repaint it... can't decide if I want to go original and even order the hood stripe or just have it painted something different.. won't be an extreme build by any means since I don't have a lot of money to spend working min. wage But I love mustangs and I don't see too many of the 4 eyed ones too often.. I know a guy that has a daily driver one but it's just the base 4 cylinder I'm actually supposed to find out today if I got the car or not..

I have to admit I really do like it, the doors seem a bit short for a 2 door car though looks like it should be moved back more.
