  1. I had never seen this before and it's about to be released. Does anybody have more information on this . . . has anyone built one? Krupp Titan SWL 80 ('50) Plastic Model Kit Product ID : 80-7559 Overview Skill level: 5 Scale: 1:24 Length: 393 mm Parts: 324 Description The 1950s' most impressive 8-ton flatbed. The Krupp Titan made its debut at the 1950 Paris Motor Show. A 210 hp 6-cylinder diesel engine and four-passenger cab made it one of the decade's most impressive trucks. Kit features a detailed SW 6 six-cylinder diesel engine with Roots blower, a realistic sub-frame and platform, detailed driver's cab interior fittings, an opening hood, a detailed brake linkage, a removable spare wheel holder, detailed folding tilts, two roof options, seven tires, movable front wheels, assorted chrome parts and decals with Rheinisch-Westfälische haulage company and Baumann freight forwarder markings. I think it will build into a great model . . .
  2. Andy, you know exactly where I'm coming from. LOL!
  3. Great memories, Christian . . . I remember that Mississippi steamer. That thing would make such a great diorama.
  4. Obviously, the fog machine can be adapted to a smaller canister to make in scale fog?
  5. Oh, so you are swapping out the engine. Okay. This one is going to fit better.
  6. LOL, Jim, it's called STYRENE INSANITY! Ha. I gotta get the fog machine and then the disco lights . . .and then everything will be BURLESQUE INSANITY.
  7. I figured the 24 point type would get your attention. LOL.
  8. More eye candy, MORE EYE CANDY, MORE EYE CANDY!
  9. Sometimes what slows down a build are all the great ideas, like this one . . . very tempted to build one of these:
  10. Mark, this is very cool. I wonder to what extent working with paper like this gives you a greater appreciation of line and curve design. Excellent.
  11. I had some Milliput, but it dried out on me . . . the trick (like with mold making material) is not to have too much of the stuff or it will get ruined. A little goes a long ways.
  12. I wonder if TAMIYA runs commercials in Japan. I tried looking for some and nothing.
  13. Kirk, this is why I like using acrylics for my weathered and junky beauties . . . because I can build up layers. Of course I use mostly Vallejo Model Air and Medea Art acrylics (they have a rust colors kit) and I get good results.
  14. Thanks, Michael, that's very cool and it's a great little lesson in Perspective too.
  15. Austin, I think the best way is to look through many of the pictures posted of rusty builds, some like this: I use duct tape cut to scale and a little bit of cotton and tissue (Kleenex) and with white glue you can add tears and holes, patch them up, loose headliners, door panels, carpeting . . . you name it. This type of interior weathering is a lot of fun and it is definitely highly addictive.
  16. So is mine! LOL! I know there were always lots of ads in the magazines back in the 50s and 60s.
  17. I'm always on the lookout for the best fillers and putties, but it always comes down to these: WATCH
  18. You mean, if they ran it as a commercial? I would imagine they think the market would be so small (or the demographics) that they would not want to spend them money. Did they ever make tv commercials? I wonder.
  19. You are so right about that, this is how we end up babying our kids into mid life blubbery. LOL I wonder also if those two kids are real model builders or just actors.
  20. You are a true Doctor Freakenshtein, Ira! Great going.
  21. LOL! I can hear them screaming IT'S ALIVE!
  22. Discovered the Revell kit earlier this year and fell in love, so I've been building a few of them and won't stop:
  23. Mark, I think this is a great idea, and this year alone I've built about 3 of the Cobras, so one more is not going to hurt. Looking forward to everyone's builds.
  24. LOL, notice the plug for getting some of us older builders back in the fold. I guess it works. When my grandchildren start arriving I'll be more than happy to turn them on to the hobby, that is if they don't object to all the Lab-RAT-ory messes and equipment.
