  1. Yes, time for our daily allowance of eye candy! Bring it on.
  2. Here's a picture that tells how must of my builds get done . . . from the big elements all the way down to the specific details, jumping around keeps me from getting bored. I know that initially the onlooker might not get what these are right away, but the combination of the lace skirts, the "burlesque" environment of the theater, and these pasties, and the viewer will GET IT. Why are the headlights covered with these? AHA!
  3. On another unrelated (well, possibly related), I am so freakin' delighted that given the nature of this subject matter and our crazy inspiration, this thread--had it been on another forum--would have been long gone. It says something wonderful about how we can exercise (exorcise?) our imaginations (within reason and as long as we are adults and keep it clean) here on the MCMF. More STYRENE MADNESS soon . . .
  4. Wow, for the first time building a 49 Merc (I've built quite a few of them) do I run into a bit of windshield trouble. I could not get the windshield to sit right on this one, so I am going to have to scratch-build a visor. The other idea that has been forming in my mind about why these colors is that perhaps this one was and old police vehicle, you know black and white, and then some kid ended up with it, and one thing led to another and the kid now has it as a burlesque rat rod . . . Can't you tell I am having a blast? STYRENE ADDICTION is FUN and it will keep you HEART YOUNG! Speaking of young, these pasties with tassels remind me of Madonna and those crazy boostiers she wore back when . . . Those of you always looking out for treasure, keep your eyes open in the beading section of the craft stores, sometimes you can find neat bead caps like this and they are perfect for this project, but they also make for scale oil funnels, etc . . . Speaking of pasties, well, here they are:
  5. Andrew, you sure know how to feed my styrene addiction. These are all great ideas . . . I plan on trying them out, although unfortunately, the interior is not really going to be see once the car is assemble, but I will certainly try my best to execute some of these wonderful ideas. Stay tuned in for more progress.

What Rob and Jim said. Ditto, and we hope you will stick around and share more eye candy with us.
  7. What a beauty this is turning out to be. Love the them and all the details that are theme inspired. Keep i going.
  8. Rob, you know I appreciate the input. Sometimes with crazy ideas like this it is very easy to get lost or end up doing the wrong thing . . . I'm still trying to get over using the lace as skirt . . . ideas like that don't come around as often for me as they used to. LOL.
  9. Oh man, I had forgotten about that Merc. Yes, you must finish it.
  10. I like it, that's very cool.
  11. It actually doesn't hurt to invest in a couple that are different sizes . . . I have one covering the bench surface, and then another I use to square up things on and cut, etc . . . it's one of those tools you can't have too many of.
  12. Part of what I have in mind, or the joke really is to feature like 3-5 shiny new builds with these exotic names, as if they were, you know, very exciting and fresh performers, and then run this one as Miss Burlesque of 1949 or something . . . and the change in "performer" will set up the joke. I think . . .
  13. Thanks, Mike . . . and wait until you see the pasties up front with the tassels! And the thick mascara to hide the old age . . . etc . .
  14. I know, I was surprised by it too. I was going with the flow and then suddenly I though of an older burlesque dancer, not new or shiny. I don't know if that makes sense but this one is going to be a part of a line up of vehicles (most shiny) playing at Doctor Cranky's House of Burlesque Show, and then SUDDENLY this one pops up and the crowd is not pleased. LOL, that's my story and I am sticking with it. There will be a few other details, stay tuned in . . .
  15. This is, of course, far from done. I'm not finished with the paint and the graphics yet, but I wanted to show you guys the new meaning for "skirt". LOL. This one looks like either a retired cop car doing burlesque or a Pirate Jenny fresh off the boat, ready to twirl her skirt for a few bits of treasure! Arrgh! More progress, stay tuned in . . . I like that heart!
  16. LOL, Brendan, you bet . . . stay tuned in for a slight show shortly.
  17. What a STUNNER! Gorgeous build.
  18. Keep it going, you are on a roll. It's great to see you back at the bench, my friend.
  19. Nice touch. I like it.
  20. OH BOY, I really like that. Get it going, you are on a roll, Bryan. These are some of the best models you've worked on in a long time. Looking forward to it, and more.
  21. Thanks, John. I am making slow progress on this paint job . . . still trying to figure out how I am going to do it, the final colors. Right now, I am leaning towards black and white with some red . . . we'll see. Stay tuned in.
  22. Oh, no doubt he works out, but he's got that big weirdo head and it reminds of when Sammy Sosa, Mark McGuire, J. Canseco and a whole bunch of other guys started juicing up, their heads and necks doubled in size. LOL.
  23. Let's see some more progress. We need out eye candy daily allowance.
