  1. I like it. The Mexican blanket roll top is an inspired touch! Beautiful. I also like the fact that you spend a long time mocking up the build.
  2. Thanks, Jason, that's a nice engine and it looks great in the bay.
  3. Thanks, John, here's a question for you. How do people plumb and wire engines and transmissions whey the engine is so far away (like this) from the cab?
  4. I'll take both, engines you've built or pictures of engines you would like to build. Both are good fodder to keep the creative juices flowing. That engine is amazing, and I have to say I've never seen one like that. Thanks, Rob.
  5. Some engines to do in scale like these would be interesting:
  6. I was looking for engines you guys have built and like . . . and I thought this would be a nice thread for others when they do research, for inspiration and ideas . . . Can you please post pictures of your engines, solo or already in the engine bay . . . all models, all types, all subjects . . . THANK YOU!
  7. Looking good, John! I like the hatch in the back. Nice touch.
  8. I'm doing research on engines, and this is very useful. But I would really like to see pictures of engines you all have detailed . . .
  9. Vegas and Pintos would be a definite welcomed addition to the list. Yes!
  10. Speaking of engines, I wonder if some of your generous spirits could help me out with the engine and the transmission. I need reference pictures preferably of gasser engines you've built that can show me how you've plumed and wired them and also transmission work when the whole engine is outside of the body . . . Can you help a styrene addict out! Thanks in advance.
  11. Joe, I just might do that, although I'm also thinking of going with green. This thing is looking more and more like a bull frog! LOL! Of course, just when I was making progress with the primer along comes the rain . . . I think I have to do some research on the engine here a bit.
  12. Haven't gotten that far, but I did get two more of the kits today. Happy, happy.
  13. Go, go, go . . .
  14. Thanks for the heads up!
  15. Super clean, nice work!
  16. Very nice. It's always good to keep the creative juices flowing. Looking forward to it.
  17. Hope you are making progress.
  18. Oh, I forgot to tell you (it's one of the first time this happens to me opening a Revell 41 Willys): I was planning to use the John Mazmanian front tires, and when I went to put the rims in one of the tires was all cut up and mangled. Unfortunately, I don't have any more of those, but I replaced them with the regular Street Rod version. Needless to say I was a little bit more than miffed.
  19. As far as I know, I'm also going to depart from Mr. Greco's color scheme, and I don't know if it's going to be shiny, or you know, GUNKED UP! I am also not going to go crazy overdetailing, but you never know. I am planning to keep it simple and let the model speak for itself. Yeah, that's my plan and so far I'm sticking with it . . . After a bit more tinkering, this one is headed for primer . . . please stay tuned in for more.
  20. Thanks, Dave . . . would you believe that I bought the magazine yesterday afternoon and have not stopped working on this thing since I decided to build it. That's the kind of insanity EYEGORE loves about Doctor Cranky. When he gets a project under his skin, he glows with styrene addiction! LOL!
  21. Here's the link: http://www.disturbingthegrease.com/ Also, those of you who will undoubtedly go crazy over the illustration are more than welcome to build your own. I'm just doing my own thing with the influence, but if you want to be true to the illustration and have a few VW engines laying around, you can have a blast with it.
  22. Bob, I don't know Mr. Greco personally, so I don't want to upset him by violating his copyright, so the best thing I could do it tell you to check out his website: www.disturbingthegrease.com The title of the illustration is "What A Drag"
  23. Wow, lots of great subject matter there. I hope you start on the restos soon.
  24. Stay tuned in for more Lab-RAT-ory FUN! Yes, I think this one is going to be slightly over the top! But it's going to be loads of fun.
  25. I am departing from Mr. Greco's original concept because I want to use the Willys engine (one of my faves) and besides I did not have any VW engines around). I think the model is going to look CRANKYFIED enough after I am done. Again, I am not COPYING the original. I am just going to do my own thing . . .
