  1. If Little Jonny did all of the work to create the printed object why not call it SCRATCH PRINTING.

He started from scratch until the part came out of his printer.

Every step to produce a printed object is a skill. Just like taking a piece of plastic and shaping it into a part. Every step is a skill.

These two forms of creating a part have different skills, for sure.

But to discount the skill, is a bit much.

  2. This week I stopped into an Ollies by my house. The Alexis and Lewis store location and the had 3 cases of the Rat Fink Trucks along with several boxes of trailers. First, I had seen any at that location when I stopped in.  My guess is that any others they had before were already snapped up by other shoppers or that store never had them. The Monroe MI Store had a case of the Mail trucks at least as when I stopped in there last night there were still 2 left. So, I now have myself and Slusher covered for those.  Again, that is the first I had seen those there. The Adrain Mi store had both before but I was told that one person cleaned them out. Not sure what they have now.

Very informative video, but you don't show how you "crimp" the "rivets" or "pins" on the hood hinges, so the hinge doesn't fall apart. That to me would be the most important part of the video.

You clearly show that you solder one end of the rivets to one part of the hinge, but then the hinge is shown to work, while staying together.  the video seems to show that also solder the other side of the hinge, but if you do use solder, how you prevent the other side of the soldered rivet joint from melting, or how you prevent the solder from sticking to the loose piece of the hinge (so it still pivots).  Or if you use another method of fastening the rived, what is it?

The hinges are clearly soldered, but you are right he does not show us that trick, to stop the solder from running.  I am going to guess and say he just uses what is on the top if the iron from the last pin he solders.

Went to the store in Mooresville NC. They had a nice display set up that had the Rat Fink trailers, but no trucks. I looked around the rest of the store and hidden in the back on roll around carts, wedged in between the carpet, to the point you had to literally dig them out, were quite a few toys. There were several of the 4070a Rat Fink trucks. I picked up 3. One thing that I have learned about Ollie stores, is to check the entire store before giving up. The last go around, I found the semi kits in various places around the store.

    Good point.

GM was into hydrogen over a decade ago and were very far along but then bailed for some reason.
I do think all-electric cars will be the norm someday, but in the meantime I think hybrids are the way to go as a bridge, and some auto companies see that, read Toyota.
Right now the investments are in all-electrics, and that ain't changing until they realize the earth doesn't have the raw materials to support it globally.

As far as Electric cars go now I don't see it working. They want us here in Michigan to have a Meter to shut down things in our house at peak times because the grid is already overloaded with few Electric cars charging now. Another 10 to 15% more charging and we will be in the dark until Midnight.
