Revell Discontinuing NASCAR Model Kits

All this stuff is fascinating.Peter Lombardo I'm with you,I live 3 miles away from Yankee stadium and I dont support pro sports for the same reason.A salary bubble has existed for a long time now maybey it will soon pop with the economy and all.The amount some of these pro athletes make is crazy, and I'm a capitalist for sure but there has to be a balance.Americans seems as if we lost our grit and passion for doing things and thats part of it.Also I'm a cyclist,I do it for the passion.I belong to an amateur race team based in Brooklyn. We do not get payed but we put alot of time and money into this passion.I race against athletes that are in phenomenal shape for their age some in their late forties and early fifties. All these guys have jobs and proffesions from school bus drivers to stock brokers, cops and school teachers some are business owners.Unfortunatley there exist animosity towards the many cyclist in the tri-state area for whatever reason,I dont know you look funny in spandex or if your gonna be on the road you should have a "real" reason or be driving a car.I dunno, all I know is I need the road to ride on to do 6 hr training rides so I can be in race shape.I say all this because it seems people dont respect passion but I could be wrong.Anyway I'm glad Revell did what they did, good for them. -

Wow,I may be wrong but I imagine if we had cars that would go 100mpg that would probably put a lot of people out of work and the land that is under all the millions of gas stations would have to be liquidated(not that I have a problem with any of this). The thing that bothers me the most is the anger.People attack the CEO's the unions, the imports blame this one or that one....but unless any of us are qualified to know for sure then we're just speculating. -

Thanks for the story it was interesting.Just to clarify I figured this thread would be a good place to pose the question of hourly wages within UAW for my own curiosity .I'm a member of a union as well;local 100 of TWU.I'm a uniformed employee for the state of NY for the last 14 years.I'm no econimist so I dont pretend to understand the intricate effects of these politics and sciences. The media in my area perpetuates a very very negative image of TWU members and sometimes our employer, this has been going on at this rate for about the last fifteen years.Being the general public is ignorant to most things the media prevails in doing its job of spreading contempt, lies, rumors, confusion, ect. The media, portrays, the people are deceived and the taxpayers/shareholders dollars are speculated. The you know what hits the fan and we start all over again. So I can understand misperceptions. -

WOW that was a good one!It was funny becaue its true but it is sad because its true.I hope if the big 3 come out of this mess intact and with a good plan do re-organize,recapitalize and make good cars. -

Could it be that the inflated salaries will be the next bubble to burst? -

I realize the papers are the media.I guess what I was trying to convey is I know people that whatch the news on TV every day, they say they are keeping up with "current event".I dont need cable because not much on TV interest me plus I wont keep getting beat in the head with all the crapola that's prevalent. So the distiction is that I can pick up a paper everyso often as appossed to mindlessly absorbing the crapola from TV.I'm not a liberal.Anyway politics aside this is a great website to learn to build plastic cars,I cant wait untill I complete my first one. Is it true that some memebers of the UAW union make like $76 an hr working on the assembly line???I think its good when people can make money and be wealthy but how will American car companies compete with import?Don't get me wrong I realize this alone didnt cause GM' s demise. If I'm wrong please forgive me I dont want to get on anyones bad side.I dont even have cable service at my house because I hate the media, especially where I live.I ususally get this info from the Wall st Journal,Barrons or the Times. -
How about white with orange interior? How can I get a spray booth like yours?

Thanks yall.I was online looking up pictures of the prototype 635csi and I noticed some things about the model. The hood is too short, the rear deck angle is off,the wing that goes on the rear deck is way too big,the wheels are way too small, and the angle of the door is off.Is it common for plastic car models to be noticeably different to its prototype?I'm new to model cars and actually was active in O scale trains.I just thought it would be easy to replicate a car accurately in minature.

Hi everyone.I picked up this Revell kit from the hobby shop the other day.The shop had a good amount of kits but none that really caught my attention accept for this one.I really wanted to do an American car but most of the stuff the shop had was the "regular stuff".The guy at the hobby shop tells me I dont need to use primer for 2 reasons,1)The primer along with the paint will fill in the details and 2)"You really don't need primer for plastic models only for metal"??So I wasn't so sure about this.Anyway I picked up hobby knives, sand paper,Tamiya paint and some other odds and ends.I have a ways to go in the tools dept,I dont even have a good light to work under. The kit comes in a nice grey plastic and its 1:24.I have been going through the body and the bigger parts retro fitting them and correcting to the best of my ability any imperfections with my hobby knife and sanding.I lightly sanded the body using 600 grip paper(darn was I supposed to do that wet?).I can see that I will need some filler putty for the tiny gaps that appear here and there.I hope I didn't mess the kit up by dry sanding it,I realized I goofed.Anyways I'll continue retro fitting and wet sanding(just to remove the shine and give the paint something to grab onto). After I order some more things from the hobby shop I think I'll paint this one without a spray booth(since I didnt order one yet).I'll paint it outside in a big card borad box or something.I'm planning on painting the interior "Mica red"including the dash and the exterior Gun metal.what do yall think about that?As always any advice is appreciated. Thanks,Rich

Thanks everyone.I feel that I should get a spray booth.Even though I need many other things the spray booth is substantial in relation to all the other things I need.I live in an apartment and dont mind springing for a good one,Its important to me that I have something that will cut down on the fumes,I'll also be using a mask and if that dont work I'll get one that will. Then comes the airbrush/compressor and probably a lamp so I can see what I'm doing.I already have one of those magnifier things that you wear on your head.I already have a space with a table for me to work on.Then the ordinary tools paints and kits.Until then I'll be reading as much as I can and checking out those beautiful picture. Thanks and happy Thanksgiving.

Hi I'm new just joined.I've been looking through this website for information that I need however I cant help but to spend my time looking at all the completed cars.I'm trying to find a good reputable online hobby shop that has good stuff.I need everything I have very little tools.I need a list of tools to get and I will be getting an airbrush so advice on that would be great.Should I start with Revell kits? How do I find the cars I want?I like big American cars from the 70's and 80's coups with the fast back look,Buicks,Fords,Caddies, ect.I would like my models to look protoypical but I also like the low rider custom wheel look.I would like to model the cars that are not usually modeled.Basically I need a starting point,I live in the Bronx,NY.ThanksRichard Fernandez
