  1. Congrats papa !!!! Nothing like the pitter patter of 24 little feet running down the hall ?
  2. Are you from Montana ? If so i don't think it does, go for it dude !!!
  3. When I was 15 or so, my uncle drove me down to a friends shop on salinas, I talked to the guy for a few min about my dreams and ambitions of custom paint and art work. I sat there for about 5 more mins of him telling me how there isn't any need for anymore painters out there and to find another hobby. That was the last time I ever cared to see or read anything about Rod Powell again. Every time I pull the tape off a car and hear someone ohh and Ahh....I hear that in the back of my head and just smile. Craig Fraser has a similar story in the begging of his first fx book, must be something about painters...who knows
  4. If I may ask, what your home made decal solution? Or is it top secret?
  5. Very sharp looking color combo already. I read about that kit in SA a wile back, I've yet to try an import kit but I sure liked the looks of that car in the magazine.
  6. I start my 4.7L Ram and let it warm up for about 2-4 min, then hit the high way at 60 mph for 22 miles, then pull into the shop and shut her off, then its the same trip home. I get 23 mpg out of it that way. Thats my " real world" driving...well 5 days a week anyway. the other two....well lets just say I dont drive it much on the weekends There are just to many variables to try and get them to pass...If they had to make the milage requirements in all those, we would have very slim pickens to choose from as consumers...or pay a very fat gas guzzler tax.
  7. But they are not Harry, dont forget that the "normal" driving conditions the EPA test under, are pretty similar the the "normal" driving conditions that most cars are built to be driven in. If you look in the owners manual, I bet not one person drives under what the factory would concider to be "normal operation" driving...they will most likely fal under "severe duty" Any stop and go or extended idle will place yout right at the top of the list for severe dudy.
  8. Sure...enough for that...but then brand "x" came out with enough to carry a moose AND an ice chest...so began the great power war of the 80s... ..thats a good picture though..lol
  9. What was the power output of those vehicles?? What was the emmisions output for those same cars back then? There is no way they would meet 2012 standards as a new vehicle. THATS the problem with todays vehicles and the milage they are getting (or not getting). There is no way Americans would "settle" for small under powerd cars now...who wanted to drive a "k car" for any lenght of time? It comes right back around to pleasing everyone ( still cant believe Harry can't ) all the time. Either we take the big power and performace with the poor milage that comes with it or take the high milage and poor performance..either way it has to meet very tight emmision laws and it will be a nit picking fight.
  10. It doesnt matter (baaaa) what line (baaa) your standing in (baaa), your still fallowing something (baaa)..
  11. Csi did one of those, where the killer would send a model of the crime scene to the head investigator ..... Why are the modelers always NUTS ?
  12. The first time I ever drove one was to a training class in Portland, it sucked up a full tank from tri cities to bigs ( I'm going to assume you all know where that is for the sake of this story) and I thought to myself...." how do they expect something this small to sell when you can't go a 100 miles on a tank of fuel !!! " little did I know that I had left home in it thinking it was in drive, but it was in low range I didn't think twice because everyone talked about how weird it was to drive a car that didn't shift .. lesson learned. I went the rest of my round trip on one tank of fuel after that !!!
  13. I'm holding my breath now until someone sues Nike because they didn't jump as high as its advertised that "someone may"....it going to happen I know it.?
  14. 42 mpg is still about 84% of the advertised mileage , that's better then a lot of makes out there. More then enough room for driver induced reductions. I still think its odd that it would take 6 years for someone to get tired of something and sue...... "Oh wait, you mean there isn't something wrong with my car, there is a bunch that are performing exactly like mine does.. Maybe I should sue now" !!!
  15. "Peters, a former lawyer" That says enough right there....kinda funny how the new limit on small claims changed in 2012 too....
  16. I know on a Chrysler stand point, poor milage is NOT a warrentable complaint on its own with out a malfunction. I'm not sure why this woman won the case. I'm sure alot of it came down to some paper trail that feel through the cracks some where. Did she buy it new and is just now sueing? I cant see her wining the claim with a used second hand car.
  17. Is'nt that "why" tube glue is used? to melt the parts together? But why was it on the doors? Or is that damage from the inside? Either way, sorry bud, you gots lots of work to do....
  18. With gold leaf, but not on a model. Not sure if it would hold tin foil very well, my leaf if very very fine and light
  19. Is that a single stage paint or is it supposed to be cleared? If its a two stage paint it will brighten up with clear. Its got alot of brown in it, but I dont think it will come close to either of those colors your after. I wish I had a picture for you, but a few years ago, I helped my cousin do his full size Chevy in a Chrysler flame red color. I remember thinking it was the uglyest color of brown when I was laying out the flames. But it REALLY came to life with the clear.
  20. Thats fine if you dont want to ask any questions, and hope they have a book with what you need to know already done up and ready for you.
  21. I woud have given ANYTHING to have the minds of today, at my finger tips growing up in the late 90s in highschool. Now with life and a family its still great to get the chance to talk to the masters here, as well as other forums, ie..coast airbrush...but man, If had had the chance to do it when I was 13,15 years old...things may have turned out a little differently. That was a very good point Dave.
  22. I have three kids at home, who two parents at home, And not one of them will stop the first time one of us says "NO", dont see why it woud be any different here....
  23. The "big can" part was a cheap shot at carpet glue, no you don't want to use that. I had a can of glue from the paint/body supply shop along time ago.it was a pretty thin tried it once, then found someone who sold bmf....
  24. 3m ..... The big can.
