  1. Love it, love it, love it!! Honestly, IMO the 6" narrowed beam would be too much; the car looks well proportioned and 'sorted,' as my mates in the UK would say. I really like the wheels without caps, as that's a style that you almost never see in scale.
  2. I'm not in a huge rush, Mike....and I know you have a hard time making anything that's NOT impressive. If you can make one, I'd like to pre-order about 15-20 of the copies; my local model hot rodding buddy Matt T would for sure also be into them, and those would cover the both of us.
  3. Lately, the weathering I'm doing is more along the 'derelict' lines...because most of what I'm doing as of late is destined for the junkyard dio I'm doing on my buddy's G-gauge model railroad layout. For that dio, 'derelict' is appropriate(and requested by my buddy). Speaking as a native northeasterner, real vehicles are generally rougher here than in better climates
  4. It is indeed, regardless of the weather outside. I keep telling myself every year that we need to get there earlier, as a ton of cool cars are always on hand outside.
  5. Ouch indeed! Glad it's all repairable/replaceable stuff, and that you're OK. 600hp and RWD in the snow is a bad combination.
  6. Tommy - If you can spare the part, I'd really appreciate it...no rush at all, either. Drop me a line and lemme know what I can send in return. George - I might be able to scratchbuild or use a smaller-scale diff and mod it, but it would eat up a ton of my already limited bench time. I'm putting them in chopped hot rods, so I'd rather not spend too much time making them because they really aren't a focal point of the model.
  7. Just another chilly mid-winter Saturday night in waaay upstate New York.... With the mass of people shuffling around the small shop, it was nearly impossible to get 'full body' pics of the cars inside; here's the link to my whole album anyway: http://public.fotki....-bones-winte-3/
  8. Thanks, but the limited and sporadic time I have to build as of late makes me not wanna scratch it; all I really need is one, and I know a couple different casters who could turn that one into many. Thanks for the advice on the Revellogram sprinters too, Dave....over the years I only was after the tires from them. If no sooner, I'll scope out sprinters at the NNL East swap room(s)
  9. And here's another I shot just this past weekend, at the 2012 'winter garage party' @ Rolling Bones:
  10. I don't have any decent pics, but I've gotten decent vinyl-like results from Testors flat black spray enamel topped with a misty coat or two of their clear enamel.
  11. Does anybody happen to make a resin Schroeder steering gear unit in 1/24-1/25? I understand the Casey Luna sprint car kit has one, but I need several and don't want all those extra sprint car bits laying about. Thanks in advance for any advice or assistance. Here's a couple of the units I'm talking about in 1:1, in '32 Fords built by the Rolling Bones Hot Rod Shop in nearby Greenfield Center NY::
  12. For enamel paints, my brush cleaner of choice for decades has been Ronsonol lighter fluid(in the blue & yellow container); it's as effective as thinner, but a fraction of the cost. Another key to making it last is keeping it closed unless you're cleaning brushes; evaporation is a major problem with any solvent. I have a 'rededicated' jelly jar for my brush cleaner vat that has served me well for many years so far. Don't leave brushes standing in your cleaner, as the bristles will quickly develop a 'hockey stick' bent appearance. Proper brush maintenance can save you money and yield many years of service; I have inexpensive Testors brushes that are more than old enough to vote. For holding small parts for painting, IMO clothespins are the most versatile...and inexpensive....tool. I've modified many of them for specific jobs by cutting or shaping the ends with my Dremel or my mini cutoff saw. Specific brushes for specific colors? Overkill. If you clean them properly after each use, you can avoid color contamination. I have fine-tipped brushes for specific detail jobs, but not for specific colors.
  13. We got our cards last week too; I wouldn't miss it for the world. I may not have anything new finished by then, but it's on my calendar regardless.
  14. I'd wanna build a Meyers Manxter 'DualSport.' Here's Bruce Meyers hisself hauling the mail in his own turbo Subaru-powered DS:
  15. Here's my wife's Mini; her first model, which we did in the winter of 2002-2003:
  16. Mine's not nearly as pretty as some of the others posted above, but it sure was a fun build:
  17. I sent him smoothies from both the Hasegawa Kübelwagen and the Gunze/Mr. Hobby '56 Beetle, so I wouldn't worry about having to fill any wheel holes.
  18. Took the words right outta my mouse
  19. Ask the seller if you can bid and have them ship to a US address if you win it...then have your yank mate mail the item to you at your expense. If they'll go for that, I'd be glad to help. Email me: plasticman1432@gmail.com
  20. Picking up the current issue of Rod & Custom magazine is a good idea too...there's a nice '57 150 gasser on the cover and featured inside
  21. I agree, the two models make a great pair.....although I'm partial to the push truck. Very slick; good on ya, mate!

Wow!! That really looks the business, and super smooth paint too. Looks like something right outta Coddington's shop.
  23. Those resin bits look great, Ryan! I'm really looking forward to having some deeper buggy wheels without hacking my only set of 356 or Kubel wheels apart.
  24. Gotta love that 'no-tone' paint job
