  1. Hey guys, I haven't been too active on this forum since I joined but I thought I'd share my first actually completed model build. This is a 1:87 scale 32 Ford made by Jordan, Highway Miniatures. The build took just over a month. I scratchbuilt the exhaust headers, windshield frame (and all glass), shift lever, radiator support bars and spark plug wires.
  2. Peter, I am a big fan of those who take multiple cars from different eras and combine them into one and actually make them look like they belong. Nice work. I am devising up something too, a 32/34/36/37/40 Ford combined with elements from a 57 Chevy, 50 Merc and 68 Mustang. It sounds really, really bad, but so far my concept drawings look pretty sweet. Like previously stated, DON'T let this sit on a back shelf...
  3. I'm new to actually building models, but I have been experimenting with pastels for weathering. be sure they are chalk pastels... What I found that works best is to grind a little chalk of the stick with some sandpaper, mix it with some rubbing alcohol, and paint it on. you can get it really wet, or sort of dry as in dry-brushing paint. But be sure to work fast, the alcohol will evaporate quickly, but you can wet the surface and still move color around after it dries. As far as sealing, I haven't gotten that far yet... experiment with different methods of applying the pastels and i'm sure you will come up with some desirable results.
  4. Hey guys, first post. I'm not new to the hobby, but I have yet to actually finish a car... Soon, very soon, that will change. I am building a 1968 Mustang 428 CJ. you know, the car that took the 1968 (?) Winternationals by suprise. I found an old magazine ad of the car as it was offered from the factory, with Wimbledon White paint and steelies with poverty hubcaps. I have decided to build it this way as opposed to the full drag versions that are famously photographed. Can anyone give me a manufacturer/website for someone who has a late 60's Ford poverty hubcap?? I think i can use the steelies from the 64 T-Bolt, and the engine from the 69 Shelby 500. But i need the hubcaps... I was checking out the new R-M Falcon or fairlane, i dont remember, and thought those hubcaps would suffice, but i dont think they're correct enough to pull it off. Perhaps if i get too involved (like i always do. Hence the reason i havent finished anything) I can scrap the engine/trans and make it a "barn find". But if anyone has any information on the hubcaps, as well as a direction where i can look to find exactly how they came from the factory, interior deletions/additions, etc. OH, also, any info on if there is a hood scoop I can get to match, if not i can make one out of sheet styrene. Thanks guys for the long read. I'm really excited to get pictures of this thing on here RQ
