  1. The A is the model series. 64 is 6x4. B is set back axle. The kit came out in '70 so AMT probably used a '69 or '70 for their measurements. Be sure to check the fit of the cab/hood to the frame. The cab mounts are a bit too tall and create a forward lean/rake to the cab and hood. Tim
  2. The AMT White-Freightliner SD was close to the CF specs but not a true representation. The CF trucks had: Single exhaust, behind cab air cleaner, air starter tank, bobbed bumper, center rear window, small horn, small roof lights, painted steel wheels and no visor. Tim
  3. $23.99 ? I remember when the BigRig sets under $15 !! If someone would have told me in '78 that "someday this kit will sell for over a $50 bucks" I'd have thought they were nuts ! Tim
  4. I went to a Detroit Diesel shop and bought a can of the paint they have in spray cans. Tim
  5. Very nice. The blue flames turned out nicely. Tim
  6. The last flat fender Peterbilt was built in '03. With that said, several oil field truck outfitters have taken fiberglass hooded 357 SBFA's and cut off the fenders and installed big flat frame mounted fenders to cover the big off road tires. An interesting look. Waukesha County Wisconsin did something similar with 357 fiberglass hooded trucks in the late 90s, I built one from a 377 kit last year. Tim By the way, are the Peterbilt 365 or 367 available with flat fenders like the 353 or 357?
  7. I started this in mid November. My original plan was an '03 Peterbilt 357-123 heavy tractor for Schlumberger, it was to be white with a blue frame. All was as-planned until the red Italeri plastic leached through the BIN sealer, white top coat and into the clear. I ended up with a pink cab. So I decided to build a late 80's Schlumberger unit, back when they were orange and black. I scratchbuilt the hood and fenders. The the frame rails and some crossmembers were scratchbuilt. The pump box body was scratchbuilt from flat plastic. The tires are resin from Aitruckmodels.com Almost finished - just awaiting the body. The mudflap logos are from www.whitefangmodel.com in Australia. I made the lettering on the doors using MS Word and printing the lettering on Bare Metal Foil clear decal paper for inkjet printers. More pics are on my site at www.timstrucks.com Thanks for looking! Tim
  8. I think you forgot something.. the photos ! Tim
  9. Your color choice is perfect! The decals are a play on the patriotic theme with the USA flag stars and stripes. United Trucking. Tim
  10. Will yellow and white be the final colors? They always look good together. Tim
  11. The White Construcktor was a White Motor Co. truck that looked identical to an Autocar DC series truck. White badged the truck as the Construcktor. (remember that White owned Autocar at the time). When Volvo bought White, the Autocar construction trucks took on the name Construcktor. You could build a White Construcktor from the AMT Autocar DC dump truck by reworking the grille and making some side of hood nameplates. Everything else would be the same. Tim
  12. I've still got projects from '04 that I haven't finished.. The ones started in '07 that have been moved to the back of the shelf will probably see the light of day again in '10 or '11 ! Tim
  13. Brent Nicely done! The front fender flares look perfect. Tim
  14. I'll repeat my previous comment: What a beast ! Tim
  15. Cool look! The droopy visor is a nice touch. Tim
  16. Arjan That 387 would be really nice if 1/24th! 8 inches wide? Good golly, it must be huge! Tim
  17. Arjan Yes.. north American truck. Tim
  18. Stuart You hit the nail on the head. The 1/24-1/25th scale truck market is small and the USA based companies don't have the money to spend to create new toolings of truck kits. Italeri is trying to save money by creating new truck kits with 1 piece frames and no engines. Revell of Germany hasn't had a new truck kit in 26 years. Tim
  19. Nice 359 you've got going! Tim
  20. Aaron Yes, the same kit. Tim
  21. I couldn't say anything until the the official announcement. Although the Mack RS688 was a complete surprise! As for how I know.. lets just say a little birdie told me. Yes, the Mack R was out about 5 years ago and sold out quickly. Stevens' paid for the limited run back then and are running it again. Tim
