  1. Can you take some close up shots of the kit? I was thinking of getting one. The one on the MS Hobbies website looks like it would need some work, but this final version looks really nice. Also, is that some tire stencils I see on the PE fret? Thanks, Nic
  2. Yep, clear then put the blue on!! Dying to see this one done. Hope you are getting back into it. Nic
  3. Andy is right. Depending on which issue it is, it can be up to about $20 or so as I have seen on eBay. I have a handful of the magazines and enjoy reading them. I of course have most of the latter ones and have been looking for the early ones for quite some time. It just depends on how much a person is willing to pay. I have contemplated trying to find someone who would lend me their collection so I can scan it all as I care more about the reference material. Nic
  4. Is the smooth on version flexible and stretchy? My master is slightly smaller than the wheel itself so the tire can have a good solid fit. If worse comes to worse, I'll get the Micro Mark stuff and make two or three molds. Nic
  5. What kind of resin did you use? I was trying to find something I could make nice flexible tires with. Thanks, Nic
  6. I'm probably the only one that isn't really happy with these kits. Tennessee's is messed up in a couple of spots. They never used the MX7000, the stripes are supposed to be equal widths of black and yellow, and the black state trooper for the sides is missing. Bob is right on the early '96 Crown Vics in that sometime in '95/'96 they switched from a pale gray to white. The decals however are for the '97 60th anniversary version. The lettering however should be gray, not white. The NCSHP car is only good for the 96. In 97 they changed the paint scheme to include silver at the bottom. On the CHP decals, the trunk should be yellow not gold. It looks like they just went by the old Chimneyville sheet. I may be nit picking, but I like my stuff to be accurate. Nic
  7. I don't have the kit you were wanting to get. As far as the metal bodies, you have two major things. The first is you have to make sure the body is smoothed out and all pitting is gone. Second, you have to worry about kit. Before you even prime, you need to check and make sure all panels line up exactly. Some may bow out or in, others may be warped or bent. All is managable though. Nic
  8. I have about 16 MFH kits in my collection. They vary from a detailed curbside to over the top full detail kits. They are not for the faint of heart. I have yet to have the time to build them yet, but they require a lot of work. If you get one of the kits with a metal body, expect to do some cleanup and sanding. If you get one with resin, they are gems, but will require some work to get the metal parts to fit right. Don't ever expect to finish one in a matter of weeks unless you are retired. If you want to see some close up shots of some of the kits, you can visit my Fotki site. I have only photographed a fraction of them. http://public.fotki.com/scalecentral/racing_models/ If there is one I have that you have questions on, feel free to ask. Nic
  9. Is the body on that kit plastic? It looks like from the spurs left in the hood area. Just curious as it would give me another idea for a model. Nic
  10. Forgot the subject line doesn't show up that well. Tim Bongard was the second columnist in SA with the E for the Scale Firehouse. He was in before Terry Jesse did his light commercial. He is the person from which I learned how to scratchbuild objects. I remember seeing him at a contest about 13 or 14 years ago, but he disappeared shortly there after. Nic
  11. Anyone heard from the former write of the Firehouse column in SAE? Nic
  12. I am the very same. I am about 80% done with it. It went back in the box after my first move over three years ago. One day I will get it back out. Nic
  13. For those that are wondering, that is the Harold Bradford HRM transkit. It is no longer in production due to the massive warp they would have. The body that I sent Brian was badly mis-shapen. He put the interios and glass to it and let it work itself out. Looks like it has done pretty good. Nic
  14. The Builder Kit is the LMM kit. I have one of those. You can see it at Fotki Review. It is really nice. I have heard that there will be a few differences in the SMS and the LMM version though like a small addition to the decals and a couple of PE pieces. I do have two of the Audis on order and they should be here either late this week or early next. I'm going on vacation at the end of the month, so if I do get around to doing something, it will be October. S27 will release theirs in late September or October. I'm unsure of Dexters as they are redoing their website. Here's a sneak peak though of the first item I will be offering to the public from my little workshop. Nic
  15. SMS will not be doing any detail sets for this kit. Right now, the official releases are Studio27 doing a PE set and Dexter Models doing a PE set along with an early test resin transkit. There will be more I'm sure. I have heard that S27 has thought about doing decals as well. Renaissance may be doing the 2007 decals, too. Once I get my hands on one of the kits, I will see what all is needed to make it a killer project. Hopefully I can add to the mix some. Nic
  16. I would say it is mid to late September when it comes out. I was told that some of the parts are being molded now, but not all are complete. The exhaust is being re-worked now. All of this came from a fellow GPMA'er. I already have one on order from Stradasports. When I hear from Kevin about it shipping, I will let everyone know. Also, when it gets here, I'll do a review on it. Nic
  17. I have two on the way! Yippee! Studio27 and Dexter are doing PE for it. I believe there will also be a transkit for the LeMans testing version. Hope someone does the 2007 graphics. As for the engine bits, stay tuned. Nic
  18. Fisher's kits were molded in three colors over the years. His very first kits as Dragon and the early Fisher's are a dark tan. This is not as dark as the old dental resins, but it is close. I have a couple of his like this including one of the old McLaren M6's of Mark Donohue's. The second resin he used was a smooth light resin which is probably what most people have. It is very similar to what everyone else has been using for a long time. He went to a slightly rougher texture tan resin for about a year or so and then wound up with the smooth gray resin that his planes are currently made from. He went to the gray around the time the Porsche 908 kit came out. I had one that was a mix of the smooth tan, rough tan, and gray. The last couple of kits that I got of his were gray including the last one I got, the 312P spyder. I think the gray ones are better. I sent Brian one of the 512S kits that I had since he had never built a resin kit before. Now if he'll just hurry up and finish it... Nic
