  1. I think I am very anxious to see the top of the rear wing!
  2. Ooops! Well, in my defense, they were face down in the box and I hadn't pulled them out yet. They look good as is. Thanks to all for the notes, I'll put them in the file for future reference.
  3. My web site has a page showing a '69 Penske Camaro I did long ago (1991) and some reference pix I took at the '69 Mid-Ohio Trans-Am race. Randy Derr will forgive me, I hope, for telling the story of how surprised he was at the Toledo NNL to see the light gray door jambs in the picture below. The restored car, of which he had shot about 40 million pictures for his 1:12 scale version, had dark blue jambs and that's the way he did his 1:12 model. More Here.
  4. I remember reading in years past that some paints, particularly white, do poorly on kit tires. What is the latest best stuff for painting wide whites on a 1958 Corvette RM Pro Modeler kit? Here is where it is headed: David
  5. Not if everyone else is using them!
  6. What he said!!
  7. It was amazingly fast for the first time out! But I must confess that it is better suited to a very long track. It is almost undriveable on my short (27 ft per lap) track. Concerning the magnet, I cut a hole in the chassis and glued the super magnet in a little below flush with the bottom of the car. However, the magnet pulls the chassis down so close to the track that the magnet frequently drags. I put tape on the bottom of the magnet to prevent shorting when it touches both live track rails at once. You can see the marks where the magnet was rubbing:
  8. Below is my web page about building the 1:32 scale car shown above. It set a World Record the first time out - lots of motor and lots of magnet. The Yankee Invader
  9. Rob, Thanks, I will give him a try if I don't find a local source. I bought from him many years ago. By the way, did you hear any scuttlebut about how they finally got them out in a more timely manner? Maybe MIC can keep working their way forward and eventually get them out with production of the actual cars like the good old days. I am sure you know what the total 2007 Corvette promo lineup is, but for those who may not: 2007 Corvette convertible, yellow, Available 2007 Corvette convertible, black, Available 2007 Corvette convertible, Indy 500 Pace Car, Available 2007 Corvette coupe, atomic orange, May/June 2007 2007 Corvette coupe, victory red, May/June 2007 2007 Corvette Z06, LeMans blue, Summer 2007 2007 Corvette Z06 Daytona 500 Pace Car, Summer 2007
  10. Ay grannies, I believe they did!! I wonder if it has Euro tail lights. Prolly not. Hey Bud, Kelley got a whole pile of my bucks back in '01:
  11. Miracle of miracles!!! The 2007 Corvette promos are out in 2007 - and even more amazing - the 2007 Indy Pace Car is out before the 500!! My problem - I moved recently to the Indy area and can find NO ONE that has the promos in stock. My former Chevy dealer, Kelley Chevrolet, in Fort Wayne carries them but in checking with Hare, Estes, Blossom and Penske in the Indy area (home of the 500), no one stocks promos. Am I stuck with Ebay or mail order for a source? I prefer to look before I buy.
  12. Thanks for the smarts upgrade, Andy. This weird scale stuff burns me out, too. Let's not even think about 1:9, 1:29, 1:76 and that world! :? Best to all,
  13. I flunked! I have NO idea where 1:14 came from. All I can remember is first seeing it used for expensive hand-built models from Yurp. So what's the scoop?
  14. My bad, of course it is 7mm=1 foot!  Now it makes a lot more sense.
  15. 1:43 scale is a British invention for model railroads. It is "O" scale done in the very sensible ratio of 7mm=1 inch.  1:25 scale is a USA invention. Detroit did a lot of modeling in 1:10 scale so it was easier to convert to 1:25 rather than 1:24. Does that clear things up? (Or would you like to hear about how USA "O" scale is 1:48 scale trains on 1:43 scale track?)
  16. Excellent pix, Zeb, thanks for posting them! If you are interested in more info on the "Purple People Eater" SR-2 and later Corvettes, I have a web page HERE.
  17. Bob, Was it this one: If not, I captured all the C6 speculation that I could find in the months before the C6 introduction HERE. Scroll down to "C6 Speculation and Announcement Index".
  18. Excellent tutorial, Bill. Thanks!! By the way, be sure to lay in a big supply of Bare Metal foil, that thing has about 10 acres of shiny trim. I detailed a promo Turbine several years ago and was amazed at how much foil I used:
  19. Rob, How's this for coincidence - I only collect Corvette promos and I started with 1977 (At the Dearborn Show - the one that eventually moved to Toledo). I did bite the bullet and buy a '76 but the rest are too pricey for me, also.
  20. Embarass Andy Martin, now there is a tough concept to get your head around! How ya' doin', Andy? Hope all is well. Did this little guy ever come back home, or is he still buried at Herb's place in SoCal? "AM-5" - "1938 International D-300" 1:43 Scale More HERE.
  21. I always liked the look of the racing Boxer GT4 and I built this one as a hairy street machine. It had the usual flat plate interior. I forget the kit manufacturer. More HERE.
  22. Sorry if this is a dupe, but I have been away. For all you fans of Andy Martin's creative approach to modeling, he has a web site under construction: http://www.aardvarkmodels.net/ and his email: modelmartin@mn.rr.com My favorite of his early models was the 1957 Corvette SS: Seems as if I remember one of our famous modelers doing a fantastic build of this kit!
  23. ....since I have about a dozen of everything else:
