Aoshima carries 1/24 KITT cars from various seasons....with flashing Led
-
No I think thats Alonzo's(Denzel Washington)ride. "you're in the office baby"
-
I like the wheel set on your 32...what kit did those wheels come from? I'm looking for the larger tall tires for the rear end of my 32 ratty.
-
I would like to know how you guys cut the windscreen to fit the newly chopped roof.
-
Awesom3!...I love rat rods. Can you tell me which kit you used? and did the wheels come with it? I like the old school wheel/rims. http://www.ratroduniverse.com/rats/rat/1640_204.html

Looks like Stacy David's Copperhead "OHH...Man!" http://www.staceydavid.com/projects/copperhead.html

I love the whole "blacked out" look. I wonder if you should start a category on this subject? http://www.murderedoutrides.com/showthread.php?t=959

Yes "Murdered Out" is a term used when someone blacks out their car completely including the head/taillights, dark tinting, black wheels even exhaust pipes etc..etc...usually its flat black paint. I think Rihanna is speaking (singing) metaphorically when she sings about her cheating on her boyfriend in the song "Murderer"..meaning her cheating is killing him because he knows that she's doing it.

After Market Rumors for Trumpeter GT40
samurai7 replied to Len Woodruff's topic in Car Aftermarket / Resin / 3D Printed
Strada upgrades looks impressive. I still don't understand why SMS dropped out of this. I still think the kit itself is a great base kit...Please Strada...if orders are up...please do a full blown Super Detailed Kit for this!...throw in a photo-etch set of keys and I'm definately in! -
it would look cool if you did Farrah Fawcett's mustang Cobra II from Charlie's Angels
-
Yeah Fujimi made the koenig specials in 1/16...I have that one (unbuilt) Were these kits prone to warping?...I've own several of these kits without any warps at all...anyways I think fujimi's 25th ann. 1/16 kit would look good as a targa (wingless)

Broke, but you only live once!

Ya mine's still at the hobby store....they're holding it for me till i get the "Do-Ray-Me's"...I think SMS might do more than just photo-etch...They'll probably have turned metal parts, braided hoses, aluminum rims and fittings, resin pcs...maybe a photo-CD...I hope it won't cost above $600.00 mark but I won't be surprised if it is.. Take lots of photos after you bleach-off ALL those chrome sprues!! -
Just a footnote...That Radical Rod was sold to Paul Tracy.. So there is a niche for these "stylized" rat rods...I've seen more radical chops than this.....there will always be someone raising the bar...or should i say lowering it.

I've been checking out how rock crawlers are set up...the use a high angle drive shaft to keep the drive shaft up high into the frame and it angles downward t'wards the rear diff. I might use this but " inverted" so I can have the driveline slammed to the ground and angled upwards t'wards the rear diff...This way I can put these tall "bus" tires in the back.
-
You guys are right...but some people are taking rad rodding more seriously...I'm mean more engineering and artistic thought are being put in these things. I love the direction some of these guys are going! http://images.google.ca/imgres?imgurl=http...t%3D72%26um%3D1 click on the link to see more of this radical rod!!!

Have you tried household bleach???? dissolves chrome doesn't harm plastic

Hello Everyone, I'm building a 1951 Ford F-1 rat rod...Totally slammed. I've seen 1:1 rat rods that have huge wheels in the rear...almost bus size tires I would like to build the same in 1/24 scale. My question is how does the drive shaft connect with the rear differential when the "bus" tires bring the differential up higher than the rest of the driveline?? Do they use a type of transfer case or do they just have the drive shaft angled to meet the rear end??

I'm stoked!!..SMS is giving it a rate of 8 out of 10 (maybe even a 9 out of 10) 10 being Tamyia's level of qualtiy. Does anyone have GMP seats we can make resin castings? LOL I'm going to the dollar store to buy some windex to strip all that chrome!!lol
-
Well I bought Tamiya's 1/24 scale Enzo Ferrari...This is an excellent stand alone kit...but SMS's Super detail kit took it to a "whole n'other level" machined parts and extensive photo-etch that you'll never get from any plastic model company. I agree that it doesn't mean Trumpeter should do a crappy job assuming that some aftermarket company will make their kits better.....Trumpeter should make a great "stand alone" plastic kit...and there should be aftermarket parts for that extra detail for enthusiasts....to satisfy everyone and their budget! I really can't say that this Trumpeter kit is going to be great or not...I never make judgements on photos alone...YES...the chrome sprues and the seats have already ticked some of us off....these can be tweaked....I've NEVER built a kit straight out of the box anyway...I've always did my own lil things to add to the realism. I always looked at a basic kit as a starting point.... and as for prices I've paid $400.00 for 1/12 Acura Nsx (Rosso) plastic kit only $1000.00+ for 1/350 Akagi + all photo-etch sets, extra planes..etc I am not rich...I am an average working joe...but I have a passion for this hobby

Does anyone have the 1/12 Porsche Super Detail Kit for SMS??? How much of the Tamiya kit did you use after using SMs's kit? Could it be possible that we won't need much of the Trumpeter's parts anyway???
-
I wouldn't worry about all that too much....SMS will probably have lots of photo-etch and turned metal parts to replace all that....hopefully we will get resin seats too....Trumpeter just has to get the proportions right...maybe we will only need the body and part of the chasis and SMS will take care of the rest.....Did I just raise the bar???
-
I'm definitely in...I'm sick of 1/24 scale curbside GT40's!...This is as close to real thing as its gonna get! I wished they came out with the MkI first (gulf #6 Le Mans) I love the back end of the MkI's better..The lines are beautiful!

The Trumpeter kit is slated for late July....the super detail kit will follow in the the fall...They do state that Trumpeter's kit has to be of high quality or they will not proceed with it...more to come when they inspect the kit in July.
