Cash for clunkers question..........
BigPoppa replied to roadhawg's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Stealing is stealing, no matter where you park it. And on a side note, last week I parked my faithful little Saturn and picked up a 2001 Lincoln Towncar. Me and my kids (who barely fit anymore) got sick of that little box. -
cool build, interesting name, toeing the line with that lol

I buy it locally by the gallon, but it's really too much for what I do right now. I used a third of it up and it went stale and thickened up. I can thin it but it reduces the tear strength. So anyone who is a small time user or new to moldmaking want to jump in to help defray the cost and waste? I'll pick it up, should be about $100, you would also pay for shipping and the containers I'll split it up in. I done it before with some local guys but no one wants any right now. Looking for 2-3 "partners" Been active for years on the HH board, layitlow, sold a few things on emodelcars, and my ebay ID is poppadiaz. Let me know ASAP, I have some new molds to make!

It is! Is still building model or frequenting any boards?

Remember when the AOL boards were THE way to meet and chat? I met Art Anderson and a few other people there that I still see around Couple people I fell out of touch with. Mike Maze-older fella with a young daughter. I think he was from Indiana, bought and sold new and old kits. 1967BVille - older biker guy who loved, you guessed it, his 67 Bonneville. I met him once, shorter guy, he did a crazy custom extended Plymouth Voyager van. I think he was from Indiana too. K. Diaz

With the 4 headlights? I have one in resin, $5 shipped, I don't need it. -
Should asked around first! TKM has been the joke of resin casting for many many many years

Stripping paint off resin?
BigPoppa replied to chris coller's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
different resin react different with Purple Power. I tried a Modelhaus part and it soaked it up and it became soft. Best bet is Easy Off oven cleaner -
I think I want to learn to cast--

http://www.layitlow.com/forums/index.php?s...=460735&hl= little step by step I did a while back. I use Smooth-On as well. I tried one of those Aluminite starters kits and junked it pretty quick. I have a Harbor Freight pressure pot too. -
In the market for a Paint Booth
BigPoppa replied to Pete L.'s topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
I made one out of an old file cabinet and a used furnace blower. Probably spent 30 bucks on sealant, a tube flourescent light from big lots, and the vent tube out the window -
Razed, and surprisingly quickly for Detroit.

I wouldn't doubt if a lot of the molding went to the scrapyard, the old factory was only a few blocks away from several.

Figured I'd throw up a note in case someone was looking. Denver Auto Modelers (DAM) has been around for 6 years now. We're a small club with no real rules or hierarchy, only expectation is that you build automotive models. We meet every second Friday of the month. Agenda includes mostly BSing about model cars and cars in general and working on projects. If you're interested in checking us out, please email bigpoppadiaz@hotmail.com thanks

any way to embed this? -
When I first started casting I picked up one of those Hobby Lobby Aluminite kits. Same deal, first castings were ok, but for me it seemed like it started setting up faster and faster and getting funkier results. I split some Smooth-on with a buddy and never looked back. Is the issue only that the color isn't the same anymore?
-
Check ebay, I picked up a couple toppers a while back. I think I made a topic about it a while back
-
I forget his name, but the caster of the shortbed passed away a few years ago. I made one, it's not too hard
-
How about you just make it so it looks good I like the flat hood a lot better, where did you get the parts?

It looks like a cartoon

Are decade style stereotypes over?
BigPoppa replied to KanelKustoms's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
I don't see lowriding "fading out". It's merely going back to the more underground roots that it really came from. It exploded in the early 90s with rap videos and rode the minitruckin and compact car wave. Those same rappers came up with the oversized wheels and moved on and the compact cars moved into more performance aspects. Lowriding is experiencing the same "retro" throwbacks as other genres have had in order to get back to the roots. I wonder what will be next? -
other model car forums or pages?

I think this is the best general group, there are more genre specific forums out there I'm sure. -
Question, how to strip paint from resin
BigPoppa replied to FordWagonNut's topic in Car Aftermarket / Resin / 3D Printed
Whatever you do, DON'T use Castrol Super Clean/Purple Power degreasers. Try Easy-Off first for sure -
I don't make anything like that sorry
