  1. Well, I've got 2 of these 1/16th butt ugly MPC "Street Chargers", a 1/16th "Dukes of Hazard" Charger, a "Richard Petty" 1/16th Nascar Charger (clear body), and a "Buddy Baker" 1/16th Nascar Charger. I've traded the vintage Buddy Baker kit to a pal.......I'm going to toss the other 3 in a large paper bag with a tube of glue, shake 'em up real good and see if I can get at least one bad ass street machine to fall out! Think I'll start with the engine (Hemi of course). Textured the block to look like cast iron, let's go with aluminum heads and anodized valve covers.
  2. Here's a shot of the TDR Nailhead and "55 Pontiac Hydro trans as delivered to Chuck. If you look closely...it even has period correct casting numbers on the head, now that's what I call attention to detail!
  3. Here's a few pics of the finished car and the show.
  4. My pal Chuck Darnell (some of you may know him) recently entered his 1/8th scale model of the Uncertain "T" in the KC slammers model contest.......he walked away with the large scale first place trophy. He scratch built the body and upholstered the interior. The Buick Nail-head was created by Tony (AJ Wheels / TDR Innovations) & 3-D printed. Thought you might like to see a few sneek peeks, these are in production pics.
  5. Yes Mike, it is however an expensive kit - but can be ordered in stages.......in other words the first stage would allow the builder to purchase that section of the car and complete it before purchasing next section to avoid a large initial cash outlay. Some builders just want the fiberglass body.......others just a naked chassis, internal sheet metal & engine for display (not wanting to hide all the detail with a body). Contact Tim at TDR Innovations if you need more info.
  6. Yes Doug....it is going to be made.........FINALLY!
  7. Thanks guys, Got the fuel tank & battery installed, found some seats in the parts box......now all I have to do is talk someone out of a '25 T hood and I'll be able to squirt some paint on this thing.
  8. 3-D printing is not only more accessible but the technology just keeps getting better & better.....it's hard to believe that Tony's trike is only 1/16th scale!
  9. VW engine, C-cab body, exhaust runs forward and out the headers, gas tank and battery in front under hood, VW torsion bar type front & rear suspension.
  10. Chuck's model of the "Uncertain T" is absolutely 1/8th scale, TDR Innovations produced the 1/8th Nailhead engine & Pontiac trans for his build. He'll have it on display again at the Heartland show.
  11. There's been a lot of talk and speculation in this thread about desktop 3-D printing. While it's true that the costs are coming down and more than likely will continue to do so.....there's one very important thing to keep in mind, the equipment and the material is only one side of the coin. On the other side....(in layman's terms) it's just a tool. If you use a pair of vice grips to change your spark plugs the end result will be obvious. In other words......the machines regardless of cost will only do what you tell them to. If you put in poor info you will have a nicely printed poor part. Get my drift? I read somewhere that they were going to or have already sent a printing machine into space.........think about it, instead of having to send a shuttle with a plastic part into space (how's that for costly) they just send the info to the machine and it prints out a ready to use plastic air valve or whatever to replace the broken one. So for you guys think think 3-D printing is going to fade away anytime soon...think again....it's just going to get better and more affordable.
  12. Solvents, MEK, tube glues etc. won't work effectively.......they have little or no effect on the printed materials............Use CA.
  13. C'mon guys........look at it from the other side of the fence, how many do they actually need to sell to show a substantial profit? I'm sure there are a couple of "more money than sense" folks out there willing to toss out the coins for a soon to be collectible.......right? You see them on evil bay every day!
  14. I saw a post for some resin off-set 5-spoke wheels (1/12th Stang) and am in the same boat........tried but can't find the post. I'd like a set as I want to wide body the Shelby Mustang and can't stand the hub cap looking kit wheels! Can anybody out there help?
  15. I'm in no hurry Kevin, hook up with me (PM) when you get the time.....maybe even that butt ugly 1/16 street Charger, we'll work something out.
  16. Kevin, you wrote: "Don- I can't bear the thought of those two vintage kits not being built as NASCAR's." I can tell you this much, one of them will be built as a Daytona Charger with upgraded underpinnings, swing set and all. Probably a couple of turbos feeding the Hemi but street legal. The other.....I have no idea what it want's to be........maybe a mini diorama of a Nascar that kissed the wall, not a total wreck, just run hard showing some serious wear & tear.
  17. Marshall, I haven't had a lot of time to tinker with this car lately, but there will be an update as soon as I get the body in paint (day glow yellow) & the lettering done on the rear meats.
  18. I picked up 2 vintage kits from a fellow "FAST" club member (at a great price, thanks Mark)....the boxes are trashed and most of the decals aren't any good. However, both are complete with parts in bags. One is the Petty car with clear "ghost" body and the other is the Buddy Baker version with a reddish orange body. I have far too many other projects to fool with them now but neither will be built as a "Nascar" Charger.
  19. Made some running changes...working IFS & steering, giggle gas etc. Here's a couple of mock-ups.....
  20. Wouldn't hurt to check everything to make sure it's all going to fit..... When the rear hatch door is on, you have to look to able to tell it's rear engined.....when I get the hood & side panels on it should look pretty much like a conventional front engined hot rod.
  21. Have to tweak this stuff etc. and get it all attached, but anyway the exhaust will exit thru the chrome side pipes. I think this is probably the 1ST 4 into 2 (with mufflers) into 8 into 2 VW exhaust system.
  22. I didn't want a bag of snakes & muffler hangin' off the back of the engine........got to thinking about it and here's what I came up with......... 4 header pipes........ into 2 with glass packs (tryin' to keep it legal).
