  1. Dave, don't know what the problem is..........the picture shows up on my puter in my post and again in your quote. Jim S., is the poster showing up on your machine?
  2. Hey gang.... Our club is putting on it's first model car contest/show. It's combined with a 3 day full size car show............if you're going to be in the central Florida area on the show dates.....stop in and say Hi!
  3. A stock '41 Willys has a 104" wheelbase.....I've set this model chassis at 14", that should scale out to around 112". I dug through the TDR parts box & came up with a front clip that's wider than the one on the previous mock-up. Now the width will be where I want it without having to use spacers or reversed rims.
  4. Some of you eagle eyed guys may have noticed that there isn't a very deep oil pan and no dip stick on this engine. That's because there isn't one......it'll have a separate oil reservoir and external oil lines, cooler & filters. I'll probably be using disc brakes on all four corners..so here's a quick sketch showing how I'm going to deal with the hand brake.
  5. Beautiful.........don't forget the dip stick Steve .
  6. Thanks.....test fitting the engine in a mocked up chassis. Looks like all is well...it even fits neatly under the hood.
  7. Thanks gang..........added giggle gas, more bolts, wiring, external oil line & details. The accessory belts and pulleys are done...mocked up the blower belt pulleys and tensioner bracket.......won't be long before I can drop it on the chassis.
  8. Ted....you're spot on about having it printed in the F.U.D. material.....especially in 1/16th scale. True...... it costs a little more than the less expensive material but the time saved in sanding is well worth the cost difference. I ordinarily use the cheaper printed parts (only) for things like engine blocks etc. where I want the sand cast finish to show. Parts that are supposed to have a "smooth, polished" finish, F.U.D. is the way to go....you don't wind up knocking all that wonderful detail off by sanding and save yourself a bunch of finishing time. As far as the cost goes....it is what it is, as you've said the price is controlled by the type and amount of material used in the printing process.
  9. Steve, when I get the modified DUB body in primer I'll post some pics...it'll be called Wiley E. Coyotes Revenge. I love they way you've handled the interior on the '57.....sweet!
  10. Nice clean builds...they look great! Old School Hot Rods Rule.
  11. Here's a few update pics for your eyeballin'.........
  12. Yeah the headers are going to be interesting Ken. I'll bend 'em up once I get this engine set in the frame. They will have to be different for each side as I have to clear the steering shaft on the drivers side and keep everything under the hood & fenders. I'd like to do equal length "tuned" pipes feeding into collectors but that will depend on the space I have to work in. I'm also considering side pipes set into the rocker panels. Have to play it by ear 'til I get a roller set-up. BTW.....180 bucks may be a little optimistic for your "wing" car.......it's got all that extra material for the spoiler......hee, hee.
  13. Lookin' good Wayne!
  14. John....I think this is probably what you are looking for? It's the turbine that's in the R/M 1/24th Huey kit. I adapted an automotive trans in place of the helicopter trans and stuffed the whole thing in a Monster Truck chassis with 4-four wheel drive.
  15. MORE BOLTS, detailing and started setting up the belts & wiring........I'm going to remount the distributor to place it in an upright position. That will allow me to move the engine further back in the chassis and closer to the firewall. Here's a few update pics, I must be getting close to having this engine done because I'm running out of bolts....hee, hee. Those black pen lines that you see in the seams are water based...when I start applying a light "weathering" wash they will dissolve somewhat and mellow out. I've been kinda keeping track of how bad this build would beat up the piggy bank at retail $, not taking into account my time. It's kinda scary. I'll let you do the math but to this point there's ---------- Pocher Ferrari F40 engine kit. Scale Details F40 engine trans kit. TDR 4-speed trans, blower & carbs. Paint & misc.
  16. Dave......... http://littlemachineshop.com/products/product_focus.php?Focus=CNC+Machines&view=detail
  17. Thanks Ken, just wanted to do something a little different with this build.
  18. Harry, for what my opinion is worth, I only have one word to say "K.I.S.S."
  19. BTW Jim, remind me at our next meeting to pick your brain a little about air brushing H.O.K. paints.
  20. Thank you sir.... I have a lot more fine sanding to do on the blower, carbs and intake not to mention adding another handful of bolts.....then there's belts, linkage, wiring....it just never ends. Anyway here's a few mock-up shots of the final arrangement. That little black goober on the oil pan is just a stray piece of plastic that I didn't notice when I took the pics...whew!
  21. Just a few mock-up shots of the way I'm setting up the accessories, pulleys, water pump, power steering pump. blower intake, thermostat. hard lines etc. Some of the parts haven't been painted or finished out yet but it looks like everything is happy where I have it.
  22. I put the items I'm interested in on my watch list...when they get down to the last day (if the price hasn't gone over what I'm willing to pay) I'll make my max bid on a sniper program. I never raise my max bid as that's is all it's worth to me. It's far too easy to get caught up in a last minute bidding war. It morphs into a contest where the item takes a back seat to winning the auction.
  23. Shiny & Swoopy...what more could you ask for?
  24. Thanks Jim, I had intended to keep track of how many of the little buggers I used in this build along with the total hours involved in it's construction......but then I started to think about how many little brass nails I needed to order for the coach work........it hurt my head so I gave that silliness up days ago.
