  1. Rick...this kit is going out to you on Monday....looking foward to see what you think of it and what you do with your track T.
  2. As you know TDR is a company that was formed by modelers for modelers, keeping that in mind and understanding that we do listen to your feedback........we decided to give this a try. Many of you like the rapid prototype parts due to the built in detail, accuracy etc. that is possible. However, some folks have a real aversion to sanding and finishing out the little fiddly parts. Understandable, for sure....the time involved may not be your cup of tea. We took our RP Offy kit, did the finish work for you on many of the parts and cast them in resin. Things like the block and head are still done RP as the sand cast finish can be used to your advantage to build a realistic looking model or are simply impossible for us to cast in resin. For a Limited Time ONLY!!!! Multimedia Offenhauser Engine Kit. This new, limited time offer, kit includes the following parts: 50 finished resin parts 10 Rapid prototyped parts As a bonus you will also receive a resin Ford 3 speed manual transmission with starter We will only do these kits in special batch runs of 8 at a time and Tim will be taking a few to the NNL show. So as a heads up....if you would like one, take advantage of our 20% OFF sale before they are all gone. Below are some pics of the kit as I received it, this one will be going to Rick for his M.F. fiberglass bodied track T build. There are pics, exploded views and plenty of info on the TDR website to help you along with assembly. The first 3 pics are close-ups so that you can see the "cast look" finish on the block and head.....keep in mind these are much larger than the actual parts. Below are pics of the resin parts...note that the finned parts (difficult to finish) have been done. So there you have it ....a kit that requires only minimal finishing to produce a highly detailed model.
  3. Len, the Roadster will be introduced in 1/8th. However don't feel like you 1/12th guys have been overlooked. We have heard you guys and are taking a good hard look at adding 1/12th scale goodies to our current product line. We're getting ready for the upcoming NNL....but we'll get with you 1/12th folks as soon as the dust settles. While we're on the topic, how 'bout you 1/12th builders give us some feedback as to what would excite you.
  4. Gang, just a quick heads up for those interested.....TDR is having Pre-Christmas Sale! Beat the Holiday rush and save some coin at the same time. Check our online catalog ( www.tdrcatalog.com.)............20% discount prices are posted. The sale will run to Oct. 31, 2010
  5. Haven't heard from you yet Harry...yeah I know, it's not a Superbird.
  6. Not to worry Syd, we'll work something out.
  7. The how much will it cost question keeps popping up. We can't put a price tag on it quite yet...yes, the complete car as a kit will be too expensive for many. We understand that all too well. However, TDR is going to break the kit into sub-assemblies so that the modeler would be able to order a sub assembly and build at their own chosen speed while setting aside some coin for the next sub assembly. In other words...pay as you go. Honestly guys, we'll keep the cost as low as we can, if the partners in TDR were to figure in all the man hours and our out of pocket costs.... well, you get the picture. Now I'm sure some wise guy will ask why we are doing it if we're not going to make big bucks. The answer to that is simply, like many of you...we got tired of waiting for the big corps to offer us something new.....someone had to do it.
  8. Okay Cato, you feel you've asked a simple question.....I wish that were so. Being a skilled and knowledgeable modeler I'm sure you are aware that the TDR 427 Roadster isn't intended to be what I guess could be called an "exact replica" of a specific car. As far as what we use for reference goes...simple answer....we gather info from the same sources as everyone else, the Internet, enthusiasts, input from fellow modelers, and so on. We feel that part of the excitement with a kit like this is that it's 1/8th and the modeler has the ability to be able to build it to suit their own desires. We are considering doing a curbside version as well for the guys that may not feel they have the skills to build a super detailed version yet, but would like to build a big display model without the cost of all the underpinnings.
  9. Dave, if it works for your calibrated eyeball we're happy, thanks.
  10. Hold that thought guys.....a little bird told me that there is some news coming from TDR that just might put a smile on your faces.
  11. I got a honey do list........make that an ultimatum.
  12. Dave, I don't want to get your thread too far off topic but you asked so here's a couple quick pics.... My 150 isn't quite 15 years old yet.....300 in-line six, headers, gears, 5-speed and mild hop-up, It'll be a "grudge" race against a bud's '37 Chevy Coupe, 292 in-line six with a whole row of carbs. The green car peeking out behind the truck is an old Chrysler New Yorker. I have a fresh 2-4 barrel 440 in it with toys....it's a big heavy car but once it's rolling it steps out just fine. I have no idea what the gang will put it up against. Our dragstrip is a private runway on private property. Hey, it keeps me off the streets, and you don't need mega buck sponsors to play.
  13. Dave, your chassis jig impressed me big time. Relatively simple, effective and above all else looks pretty user friendly....good stuff indeed. I'd like to be on the couch this weekend but I have a nostalgia "old fart" drag racing gig this weekend. Great fun, no tree.....flag drop, run what you brung.
  14. Gang, I have both sites, and yes the pop-ups can be a pain in the butt. But please keep in mind that if you are using the "FREE" accounts you are going to have to indure the ads. Personally, I use Photobucket for forum stuff and Fotki for my personal photos, the real key here is to back up your "keeper" pics on your 'puter and for those really special photos......put 'em on a disc or on an external hard drive! All the boo hoo's in the the world won't make up for lost pics. When your 'puter decides is time for your hard drive to take a dump it's either pee and moan time or you can be cool and say "Hey, I backed that stuff up!"
  15. Yeah buddy, but that's a no, no. Foo Gas or Willy Peter is probably more your style.........oh poop, think I just had a flash back.
  16. Shane, I'm liking this suggestion.........Hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm.
  17. A lot of chatter about nothing........if you own a 'puter and are online anywhere for any reason, guess what? When you get right down to it even if you don't have a 'puter, you can be found and your identity stolen. It's really simple folks (at least in my mind) if you don't want to post your name for whatever reason, you probably shouldn't be here, or anywhere else for that matter. Even with a bogus name you still have an IP addy so what's the point you guys that don't want to use your name are trying to make?
  18. Different strokes for different folks rings loud and clear in these posts. The list of super detail guys goes on & on, some guys have really deep pockets and skills beyond belief, others don't. Let's not lose sight of the fact that we are all here for the same reason (at least most of us)... and that's simply because we are passionate about this hobby or whatever you choose to call it. Sure, MCM has it's share of butt wads that seem to have nothing better to do with their time than criticize or belittle others, actually I feel kinda bad for those guys. It isn't that they aren't capable or have the coin to be part of the modeling community regardless of skill or funds, it's more a case of some folks just get their jollies being whatever you want to call 'em. Personally, if you have a tube of glue and a kit, build it, get grin on your face....you're part of the modeling community and deserve as much respect as anyone else. Nuff said?
  19. Harry, we at TDR are well aware that a Super Bird would send you into fits of rapture, I'm a Mopar guy too. As far as making history goes....I think Ford already did that with the Edsel. How 'bout if we put a huge swing set spoiler and Snoopy nose on the Cuda...would that be close enough? Just joking dude. If you are bound determined to make the Daytona Coupe or Superbird a reality in large scale you are going to have to roll up your sleeves, grab the bull by the horns and convince us (TDR) that we could at least break even on the project. You know you can talk to me or all the TDR partners (4) as a group.
  20. Yes Gregg, TDR is definitely considering doing 1/12th goodies. Some RP, others as multi-media (resin, RP, with maybe even a few metal parts).
  21. Skip....I don't know what the deal is with the error message, I just googled www.tdrcatalog.com and it went directly to the catalog? Stay tuned....you may be pleastly surprised.
