  1. Being this is a blown maxed out street engine with giggle gas, I didn't think the stock distributor, coil, vacuum advance etc. would be up to the task, so I'm using a race unit for spark.
  2. I hear ya Mike. I tend to get frustrated building smaller scale models these days. I've seen some incredibly detailed small scale builds but being an old school greaser....large scale allows me to build them as I would do a 1:1. For instance, I'll be putting a riveted aluminum interior in this coupe...easy enough at 1/6th but doing it in an R/M 1/25th Willys would drive me nuts. Besides in 1/6th I can use regular old hand tools that fit my hands. Tons of room for wild air brush paint jobs too. As far as the entertainment goes, your more than welcome.
  3. A little more scrap plastic & test fit.......
  4. Hey Chuck, I'll be doing mine in 1/8th scale as I want to have the shell cast in fiberglass. It's going to be a fairly large master...... I want to be able to put a 1/8th R/M Deuce on the back. Less shelf space......LOL.
  5. Way to go Tim.....Sweet.
  6. Hey Rick.....just noticed the link you posted for TDR stuff, way cool! I'm going to be needing a bell housing and 4-speed for this build in 1/6th. I know you have the 727 auto available to fit this 1/6th engine but I need a hand shaker. (real hot rods don't have peanut butter drive...LOL) Think the TDR design team can pop me out their Muncie style 4-speed trans with a bellhousing to fit this 1/6th Hemi?
  7. Carb mounting plate...... a little filler, sanding and paint & I can install the carbs.
  8. Hi Tim, I'm thinking the guys might be head scratching over the pic that looks like it was carved out of bleached driftwood. LOL. Could you elaborate a bit on the the surface texture and finishing out the RP models?
  9. Here's one for ya.........a stacked headlight GTO or Hemi 'Cuda nose on an early "Fast back Vette".
  10. Cool lookin' though.
  11. Harry.....you nailed the Plymouth.....sweet. How 'bout mixin' some of that gull wing with a '53 Stude coupe?
  12. Yeah, it's a step up....nature of the beast with a cab over engine design. Especially when you're sitting on a V-12.
  13. Hi guys, didn't feel much like sittin' down at the workbench this morning so I thought I would do a post here in the doodle section for your amusement. As some of you know from other sites I've got a couple of 1/8th body masters in the works for casting. Here's a preview of one of my original sketches, it's mocked up now, but it'll be 2010 before it's cast in fiberglass. Yeah Harry, I could have done the drawing on the 'puter but I'm kinda fond of my pencils and brushes.....it's that ol' fart thing. Best of all, when this is done, I won't have to build another shelf I'll just put one of my other 1/8th cars on the back.
  14. Hawk......those paint jobs are to die for. Beautiful!
  15. P.F., Not much available in this scale, the body I'm using started life as an a 1/6th R/C car. The engines I'm working with are the 1/6th metal block series. Tons of them around. Hobby Shops, Wally World & eBay. The rest of the parts I'll scratch build and have my TDR pals RP (print) a few for me as well.
  16. Did a little test fitting this a.m. I wanted to make sure I was going to be able to get all the pulleys & belts lined up and clearing each other. As you can see the engine mount is going to have to be redone to allow for alternator clearance. Thank goodness I decided not to add a power steering pump.
  17. Harry has spoken....so be it. Black covers & big pics. Got anything on the workbench Harry.....or are you chin deep in pixel twisting?
  18. Thanks Zuki, that's 2 votes for the black covers.
  19. P.Street, I am a member of several sites and you may well have seen my stuff elsewhere. I hear ya on the black covers.
  20. Bobby, most of what I do is scratch-building and like you I live in a very rural area (by choice). A lot of good advise has been passed on in the previous posts but let's not overlook the obvious. I'll bet you toss out treasures on a regular basis...old appliances, 'puter and printer parts, old watches, plastic signs etc. All contain parts that can be used in scratchbuilding and the best part is you don't have to lay out $$$$$. Also, building supply stores carry aluminum flashing, wire, wood, plastic in larger quantities and are far cheaper than a "hobby shop". One of my wouldn't be without tools is called a "nibbler". It's can be had at radio shack for 10 bucks or so. It's a tool used for circuit board work but it's fantastic for cutting small areas in plastic sheets.
  21. I was test fitting the giggle gas lines earlier and ran into 2 problems...some guys figure that the gas should go under the carbs to cool the fuel into the blower. Others feel it would be better to inject it into the manifold below the bower as the blower heats the fuel while compressing it....both work. I'm going with the blower manifold. The second problem is that I can't decide whether to use the black wrinkle valve covers or chrome......what works for you guys?
  22. Superb...love the attention to detail!
  23. Nope, but we are both old school greasers.
  24. Thanks Zuki. I can't use the stock motor mount locations so I fabbed up an set of elephant ears from scrap plastic.
