  1. looks like I'm just going to leave the engine, the other kit is a different scale and just doesn't work, so I rounded up a bug catcher to replace the missing velocity stacks. I have the chassis and engine pretty much done Also rebuilt the hinges so they open inward.... this was my first ever attempt at making these And a couple of general progress shots I think I may have to figure out how to make disc brakes for this one.... Thanks for looking
  2. Some progress on the engine, it needs a couple spots touched up.... I was going to try my hand at wiring this engine, but the blower that came in the kit is off so bad that there is no room for one. I think I might look to see if the leftover blower from my chevelle will fit properly while retaining the distributor. Thanks for looking

  4. I completely agree with you both on the hinges, that is just the way the previous builder had set them up. With any luck I will get to a hobby shop this weekend to find some brass and try my luck at building hinges. Never done that before... I am currently on the hunt for the velocity stacks, apparently they were missing from the kit too.... Hopefully I will have a shot of the engine/chassis tomorrow night.
  5. Thanks again guys. To give you all some background, I'm a licensed Automotive Journeyman, and the shop I work at has been known to build the odd drag/street car. The last couple where a 67 Chevy C10 that ran a 14 flat in the 1/4 mile, of which I did everything but building the engine and the body work and my own personal car which made 267HP at the wheels through a 1.6L turbo engine, which I built from the crank up in my basement. Currently we are working at a '80 Malibu with a zz4 crate engine. Hoping for 12 seconds! My specialty is wiring and final assembly and anything that requires a little "special" attention, so yeah, I know my way around a vehicle, and keeping it clean is what I do. But this was my first venture into scale building, I recently sold my stuff do to some life changes and now play at something that cost $50 instead of $5000 If anyone is interested, I just started my first Work in progress thread. http://www.modelcarsmag.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=33003 Thanks again for the support, hopefully my stay here is a good one.
  6. I picked this up at a yard sale a couple weeks ago and finaly got around to starting to rescue it. Its an old AMT '68 Camaro z-28 Street Machine kit. The wheels, steering linkage, and front springs/spindles are all missing, the left A-pillar is broken and left lower door sill is broken. Hopefully I can revive it. Here it is as I got it. Not that I've already got the spindles sort of made here, and decided to articulate the suspension on the front. I figure if it is missing the Steering linkage, I might as well make it pose able. Overall this will likely be a slow build as my 60hr work week keeps me busy, but expect an update on the chassis soon...
  7. Thanks for the kind words guys. As far as building any other models, nothing, this was my first time doing this, but I have built a couple of the real things....
  8. waiting for my new challenger

  9. Been floating around the forum for a while now, and thought I would share... This was my first ever build, finished it up a few months ago. Somewhere along the line the rear valence got lost, and the chassis got warped, but not bad for a first build in my opinion. Colour was a Toyota Med pearl something sprayed over Duplicolour Black primer. Future floor polish for clear coat over top of the decals. Thanks for looking James
