I solved the energy crisis

May.. HA, we got snow in July last year here in Calgary -
I'd love to see the cup back in Canada, but I don't think the Canucks have it... Sedin boys need to start performing, and bloody hell defence start jumping on those rebounds..... Boston on the other hand is playing some bloody good hockey... hottest goalie in the league right now on my opinion

I've own an air brush since I started building, personally, at this point I prefer cans. As far as brush paints for detail, Acrylics are easier to pick up and paint as well as clean up than enamels and lacquers, but you must be careful what you apply over them (Ie, put acrylic over acrylic, not enamel over acrylic.....) As far as tools, just like paint, start with the basics, hit up Princess Auto or Harbor Freight and grab an assortment of tweezers and hobby knives, wall mart sells good quality brushes for cheap, while there, go to the cosmetics section and grab a package of emery boards - the type for doing finger nails, a couple of packages of automotive finishing sand paper from your auto parts store, and you have the basics. Build up your tools and paints as you go. Have fun and try not too fall into the same fate myself and many others have.... Once you've built a few you start scratch building and from there you stuck....... Maybe not a bad thing?

You Say You Want a Spray Booth, Do Ya?
Jamez replied to Dr. Cranky's topic in Tips, Tricks, and Tutorials
Now that al the legalities have been brought up and everyone can make up there own minds on what they wish to do..... I have to say i've got a question or two. As far as sealed/explosion proof fans, definitely, giver' and do it the right way, but..... What exactly is wrong with using the computer fans?> or for that matter, any brushless fan, as any computer fan I have ever pulled apart has been. Brushless fans have no open ignition, hence being brushless, they are 100% magnetic drive. Now I know that someone is going to say that they are not designed for use with the fumes, and your right, and that the #1 reason I have ever heard not to use them is dust/paint buildup causing a fire from the heat of operation...... But you have to realize, any fan motor that is allowed to collect dust and is never cleaned is a danger, so I believe that it is more an issue of proper filtration and maintenance. I personally use a paint booth built with 4 3" computer case fans and 1 5 inch inline helper fan. All are brushless and have no spark possibilities from regular operation. Once a year I pull it apart and clean it, and with just a regular home furnace filter, I have yet to have much of any paint build up in the pas 3 years. This booth gets used with all paints and chemicals as I paint and clean car parts in it all the time, it was built before I bought my airbrush for use with rattle cans. This is my opinion, and nothing more. excellent how to, just make sure your fan is brushless and gets cleaned regular -

I recently purchased this kit: My intention was to build as a T/A model, but have noticed a major issue with it, aside from the poor fit of the 1 piece intake/cylinder head casting, it has the incorrect location for the distributor. The notch at the front is what I am referring to... The 340 engine that came in the T/A had the distributor on the back of the engine, not the front. Now it is true that the air filter will cover the distributor, but I have wired this one and you will see it. The Exhaust manifolds are also incorrect. So I'm left with a few questions, mainly just looking for your thoughts on which direction you all would go with it. I see it as I have 3 options.... 1. Build as a T/A clone with a 440 six pack for an engine 2. Build as a R/T with a 440 six pack for an engine 3. Cut that tab off and drill a new hole at the back for the distributor and use the incorrect exhaust manifolds. I really wanted to build a Panther Pink T/A, but I would almost rather build the R/T than have incorrect manifolds show. Comments and thoughts?

I was wondering the same thing. On my bench this day, I finally finished my Camaro, and have started on a '70 challenger rs

I bought this kit at a yard sale a while ago., was missing the mirrors, steering linkage, rims and tires and had the trunk and doors cut out with outward opening hinges. This was the first time I have ever dealt with opening doors, honestly I can't say I think it is worth the effort, but maybe that will change in time. I built new hinges so the doors opened inward as they should made the steering "pose-able" seeing as the linkage was missing from the kit anyway, lowered the stance a bit, stole some wheels and tires off of an old x-mod I had laying around, and ended up with the following... Enjoy, and please, any and all feedback is welcome. Thanks to everyone ho offered up help and suggestions on this one, I got discouraged may times, and without you all, It would still be in pieces stached in the box. Now I need to get this new camera sorted out so I can stop over exposing everything....

I stole the wheels and tires off of an old X-mod rc car that was laying around, I'll have to see if I have anymore rubber for them laying around....

FINALLY got the Camaro painted. Now I just need to motivate myself to finish it...

FINALLY got this thing painted! The hood fits like ######, but I've been working on this thing almost a year and I just want it done! I accidentally grabbed a can of "pearl" clear when I bought the paint, but overall, I'm happy with the way it turned out. Take a look.. Paint came out really clear, this has not had anything applied and no polishing. Straight out of the booth As always, thank for looking, and any input is welcome! May be before new years I'll ge tthe BMF on and the trim finished

Love the F-bomb Camaro. One of my favorite builds in HotRod in a while. Can't wait to see the outcome here.

http://www.swannysmodels.com/TheCompleteFuture.html Everything you need to know I only use it for clear at the moment, brush it on with a 1/4" brush and let it self level, all done. Works well over acrylics.
