  1. This was a great slump buster! I cant explain how much fun this was to build! 1/32 Revell Snap Tite turned into a Gasser using 1/24-1/25 scale parts. Front drag rims are slot car items, rears are vintage 5 slots cast in gun metal. Scratch built Hilborn injection, vintage AMT wide slicks smoothed (also cast in resin), resin blower cast in gun metal, scratch built cogged pulley cast in resin, cogged belt, scratch built straight axle, springs, perches, and poseable steering. I will be doing more of these as fill in's while I work on other projects. Some of the build photos car be found here http://www.modelcarsmag.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=68493
  2. This one is under glass.
  3. Anyone know what time the show starts tomorrow??
  4. Axle and steering. Mostly styrene held together with Scale Hardware .5mm threaded hex bolts/nuts and a couple PE links. Assembly was very tricky as the parts were super delicate. Working with the .5mm hex bolts/nuts was tedious. Had to use 2 sets of tweezers to thread them together. Topped off the bolts with a tiny drop of epoxy to keep them from backing out.
  5. Installed interior, mounted blower, and scratch built cogged pulley which was cast in resin and mates up with real cogged belt. Also added clear red acetate for headlight covers. More progress pics coming. Need to eat though, I'm super hungry LOL.
  6. Blower detailed and finished.
  7. Gauge faces printed and punched out. Simple interior done. Added seat belts and corrugated aluminum for the center console detailing.
  8. Quick roll bar and made seat backs from styrene as kit seats were unfinished and open. Here I needed a quick shifter gate. Used two slices of aluminum tube with a small section pressed flat on each. Then punched some aluminum discs and cut them in half so they were the same shape as the aluminum tube slices.
  9. Construction of straight axle, springs, perches, etc. all from styrene bits. Poseable steering.
  10. Hilborn in primer. Throttle linkage mock up. Here I jumped ahead and didn't take many pics in between lol. Made a fuel distribution block with brass inlets detailed with ProTech bolt heads. Linkage is made with some PE bits and held together using items from Scale Hardware and RB Motion. Although individual throttle plates did open and close I fixed them in position for fear of breakage.
  11. Need to touch up a couple things and may add a decal or two but this one is finished. Here were the progress shots of the build. Really enjoyed this one and will be doing more of these! My resin blower cast in gun metal and making the Hilborn 4 pot from styrene. Punching out the throttle butterfly's from brass sheet. Added fuel inlets, some photo etched bits, and messing around with possible fuel line.
  12. I've had very good luck with Alumilite HS2 mold rubber, been using it for about 3 years now with no issues at all. I also use Alumilite white for resin and have recently tried Smooth On Onyx black with very good results. I have Smooth Cast 300 also but have not had a chance to try it yet. The Onyx is strange though ... where a little heat will speed up curing of Alumilite white, a little heat actually softens onyx black. So after pouring onyx I do not apply any heat to the mold I just cure on the bench.
  13. Awesome DC! That was a quick build but the results are outstanding as usual. Love all the little details. As always, thanks for sharing!
  14. Nick is that the Milwaukee NNL? I also checked the "other" mag last few issues and there is no mention of the DuPage show. I also do not see it mentioned on the county website list of events.
  15. Looks great Doctor! Picked one up myself after seeing your progress. Nice work as usual!
  16. Anyone know anything about the DuPage toy show? This show normally takes places twice per year and has been a long running show. But, I do not see it advertised this year at all. Usually in February and October? If these stop there is literally nearly zero shows in the Chicago-land area. Sad times indeed.
  17. Not sure how I missed this build, but I just went through all 5 pages and your doing such an outstanding job Jason! Amazing work and details all around.
  18. Nice work John! Glad to see you still on this build and making progress. Its turning out fantastic!
  19. Doctor, loving the frame which appears rusted through primer some lost soul may have applied long ago. May I ask which / what type of wash you used on the wheels? Loving what your doing so far and tuned in for more.
  20. Happy Birthday DC!
  21. Thats an amazing Mustang! Believe there is a 1:1 of this that was built last year for Sema. Its silver if I recall. Your example is truly awesome!
  22. Very nice. Love it.
  23. Jeff those mock up shots look awesome! Nice work.
  24. Awesome paint! Glass smooth.
