  1. Sorry, I now understand what you are trying to represent. It isn't a purge cannister but just part of the wiper drive on the real car. Nevertheless, I have seen several builds with the horn in place of the wiper motor. oldscool
  2. That looks great!
  3. That looks really good and the color is nice too.
  4. That is a beautiful build of one of my favorite cars but you have made one common mistake that is not really your fault. The instructions have an error that goes all the way back to the original 68 Road Runner issue. This is the umpteenth build I have seen with the road Runner "beep beep" horn where the wiper motor belongs. The wiper motor is on the chrome sprue and is not even mentioned in the instructions. That round thing goes on the passenger side of the radiator bulkhead on a Road Runner. As many times as these parts have been rereleased, you would think they would have revised the instructions by now. oldscool
  5. Got some really nice display cases from Hobby Lobby today for 50% off without a coupon. They are made of nice, thick plastic with the mirrored bottom and the cardboard garage backdrops that you cut from the box. 3.59 each! I was plumb tickled because I quit buying display cases last year due the high cost. I only got 3 because that was all they had. oldscool
  6. You know, in spite of its problems it makes a more accurate looking Mustang than the Revell kit as far as the body is concerned. You did a great job of building it. This is what is known as polishing a turd. Is that a bad word? Not really sure. oldscool
  7. WOW! What a fantastic model Top notch paint job. oldscool
  8. That looks great! Looks like you won out over that rear panel as it looks just right. Try putting a black wash in the honeycomb panel with the Shelby lettering to make the lettering pop out. oldscool
  9. You know,I never thought of using overall height to judge stance. So by your measurements this kit is a FOOT! too high out of the box. No wonder it doesn't look right. Thanks for the tip as I have one of these in the stash. One thing that confuses me is how Revell can manage to have better wheels in their snap kits than in their glue kits. The wheels in the snap 57 Chevy are really nice ones as well as the large diameter Torqthrusts in the 63 Stingray kits. Go figure.
  10. Now I really, really like that! Great patina. oldscool
  11. Looking for some bodies for my Revell deuces. Never have been any good at putty work so thought I would try this route. oldscool

Nice ones Pete. That last shot shows just how right the AMT inaccurate body looks when done fenderless. It follows the frame curvature so nicely. oldscool
  13. You got that one just right! oldscool
  14. That is some great scratchbuilding Taxdude. oldscool
  15. Nice truck and good engine choice. First Ardun I ever saw with a high rise manifold like that. oldscool
  16. Wow! they are all fantastic Love the color on the panel truck and the Buick front end on the Merc. oldscool

    32 Ford's

I would like to compliment everyone who has posted a build in this thread. Every one of them is great! This thread is the perfect illustration of why Revell did the right thing by tooling up the new deuces as well as AMT continuing to rerelease their old ones. Just no end to the variations on the 32 Ford is there? Keep building them, I know I will. oldscool

I agree with jbwelda. That's what a deuce should look like no matter what kit it is built from. See my avatar for one built in the same style. (avatar changed since this post was made) oldscool
  19. I know this is rather belated in regard to some of the earlier comments but thanks everyone for your kind words. I always seem to get the word clean in response to my builds. I try to make up for my lack of creativity with precision and have learned that the secret to a clean build is to keep your hands surgically clean. After every painting and brush cleaning session wash your hands. After having a snack while building wash your hands. Even if you rub your face you should wash your hands to remove the skin oils before touching your model. These things can cause more paint problems than you can imagine even if you don't think there is anything on your hands. oldscool
  20. One of the things Big did to make it work was slowing down the steering. For some reason the rear engined car was too twitchy with the same steering ratio as the other cars installed. He also adjusted the clutch to come in a little slower. This info comes right from the old Hot Rod magazine article that was done not long after his success with the car became well known. oldscool
  21. Man, I do looooove that 49 Ford Oh yeah, the other ones are nice too. oldscool
  22. You Sir, are a hoot! Now that's the way to use up spare parts. oldscool
  23. I prefer Hobbylinc.com for my online kit shopping. They are based in the Atlanta, Georgia area and usually have the lowest prices. I have ordered from them at least 50 times and have never had a problem. Another good one is Tower Hobbies.com but their prices are usually higher. However, they are a Revell preferred partner and get new Revell kits earlier than most others. Hope this helps, oldscool
  24. I like this one too! oldscool - nightstalker
  25. Somehow I have missed this thread up until now. Looks really good in that color. Was getting kind of burned out on blue and Sublime. oldscool - nightstalker
