Wax or Polish
jphillips1970 replied to jphillips1970's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
Thanks everyone for the info and advise - I'll see what I can do - If it works I'll try to post a pic of the car - Thanks again - Joe -
First question: How long should one wait before putting on wax or polish on a kit that is painted with Testor's Ultra Gloss Clearcoat ? - Second question: Which works better to bring out the color in the kit - wax or polish ? Thanks - Joe

jphillips1970 posted a topic in WIP: Model Trucks: Big Rigs and Heavy Equipment
Hello - Has anyone have an extra set of large fuel cell/tanks for a semi-truck ? The make/model is not in question just need a set(the ones that come in big rigs that you have to glue together - top to bottom style glue together) - Any help would be great - I am not a truck builder but want to try something on a current project - Thanks in advance - Joe -

Thanks Nick for the info - I was at the first NNL and have not been able to attend any since then for reasons byound my control - This year will also be the same as the past 17 shows - I really had hoped to be there however, maybe next year - I know the show draws a good number of people and great kits and is always a big hit for the hobby - I had hoped to bring a kit or two but then again maybe next year - Have a good time - Thanks again for the info/reply -Joe -
Will anyone from MCM be at the Milwaukee NNL 18 this weekend ?

Hi Micheal - Sorry I didn't respond earlier to you PM - I really had given up any hope of a Wisconsin based model club - If it's not too late - Could you send me information on your club? - Just general stuff - As for myself I've been building for 45 plus years - Not a pro by any standards - But just to have fun and relax - I build whatever hits me - Most of my models are those " work in progress " kits - Sometimes 5 or 6 kits going at once all in different direstions - ( I'm sure most modelers tend to do simular ) - But I just enjoy the hobby - Any information would be great - Thanks - An again I'm sorry for such a late reply to you - Joe

Nice clean build - Mean and green like a Chevy should be - Interesting engine set up - What type of intake system is that? - I wish my Chevy had turned out that good - Keep it up - Joe

Nice start to the re-start on your build - I have several kits like that in my work shop - They sit there, I look at them, think about finishing them, get side tracked - Those wheels really bring that car alive - The good old days of muscle cars - Can't wait to see it finished - Joe

So much to do in so little time - If there were only 30 hours in a day or better 4 day weekends - Just think of the models that could be built - Your work area is by far more organized then mine - I tend to have 4 or 5 kits going in totally different directions - But thats what make the hobby so much fun - Good luck with your 20th deadline - Joe

general painting question
jphillips1970 replied to jphillips1970's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Most of the time I use Testors spray paint and have used several different auto paints - I use flat white as a base even if the plastic is white - seems to help a bit - Do you think I should buy bottle paint then mix and use my air brush ? Any ideas would help - Joe
