What's goin' on... Bruce. Awesome build! One question for ya. Was the Tamiya Racing White difficult to work w/? I've been using Tamiya Pure White on a current project and that's just like spraying water. (FYI Prior to using I hold the can of paint under hot water and shake vigorously) Every other color spray (rattlecan) paint I've used by Tamyia has been an absolute pleasrue to use just the Pure White has been cumbersome task! (for a better choise of words)

What's goin' on... Last night I scratchbuilt a headache rack. Made from Plastruct 1:48 Diamond Plate and other pieces from Evergreen Scale styrene. On top is the light bar found in the Polar Lights Ghostbusters Caddy kit. The lens' are painted w/ turn signal amber yellow and the center is covered w/ Bare Metal Foil. The chains I found at Hobby Lobby in the craft jewelery section (in my opinion they are a perfect 25th scale 3/8 inch chain. Also added are scratch built mud flaps (not too much effort put into them) All they are ... are .020 black Evergreen Scale ( GREAT STUFF TO WORK W/!!!) sheet styrene cut to 24in x 36in w/ Fruehauf decals from the AMT Texaco tanker kit. (FYI driver's will hang mud flaps on the racks so the chains aren't smacking the rack thus reducing the noise and premature wear to the rack) As is the cab is just mocked on the chassis so it looks like the rack is too tall. Thanks for looking and any interest ya'll might have in this project!!! -

What's goin' on... Here's a few sites to check. www.32chrome.com www.elizabethtruckcenter.com www.hankstruckpictures.com www.eastcoastlargecars.com www.largecarmag.com (This is a pay site but older months/issues are accessable) Just a few ideas. Usually these sites have a links page that'll take you to other related sites. Good Luck! This one here seems like a truck that's along the lines of something you might like!

What's goin' on... After spraying on one coat at a time and sanding it I'm finally content w/ the way it turned out! I decided that this will be a partial curb side (the hood has been mounted solid everything under the hood will still be detailed) The decals are some trucking logos found online modified and printed on Bare Metal Foil decal paper. Some minor damage happened to the cab from a little over aggressive handling while sanding can be seen but I don't care about that. This isn't going to be shown at any contests this is just a half ass (maybe three-quaters) cosmetic clean up job. Thanks for looking!!! -

What's goin' on... I like to use Tenex 7R 90% of the time. It works best on styrene plastic like older kits and Plastruct/ Evergreen Scale pieces. Tenex will evaporate fast on heavier plastics so heavier amounts is needed . As far as appling the Tenex I use Micro Brushes that are sold in packs at major hobby shops. Just dip the brush in the Tenex then touch the pieces and capillary attraction will draw the solvent into the joint. Another thing to use is a sirringe. In my opinion it doesn't have as strong of a smell as the Plastruct does. The Plastruct works good w/ the plasic found in late kits and acrylic plastics. That has a strong smell that will linger and it has a longer drying time than the Tenex but usually creates a stronger weld in the heavier plastics. Super Glue is good to attatch metal pieces to plastic and the heavier glue is good for gap filling. As far as Epoxy goes I have yet to use that. Model Master glue is good for pin point applications. Put some on a piece of scrap plastic and use a pin to apply the glue to the part you're attatching. Good Luck!!!

What's goin' on... Something I just thought of. Seeing how Frieghtliner and Detroit Diesel were bought out by Dymler Benz You could use the Detroit. Some of the later Freightliners are equipped w/ a Merceades heavy diesel. I'm not sure if any of the Italeri Euro truck kits have that model engine or not. Basically you probably know this but a truck can be order w/ any power train combination to customers spec. I still think you should build this as a day cab like that you pictured!
