What's goin' on... This car is looking "COOL".If those rims were 15x10 rear and 14x5 fronts w/ enough rear lift for tire clearance that'd really set it off. BUT I'm old school. WELL DONE!!! -

What's goin' on... Jason I too use FlickR. To post pictures here on the MCM forum here's how ya do it. 1. Compose your MCM post then open a second web browser tab and go to FLickR homepage. 2. Find the picture you want to post in your photo stream and click on it. 3. Click "ALL SIZES" Across the top of the page it will show you this ..... Available sizes: Square (75 x 75) Thumbnail (100 x 79) Small (240 x 189) Medium (500 x 393) Original (896 x 704) Download the Original size From there click the size picture you want to post. 4. Scroll down until you see this .... 2. Grab the photo's URL: You'll see an address (Here's an example one of my pictrues URL here http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3220/281872...9cea91a35_o.jpg) 5. In the field where this URL address is click that all the way over to the right (at the end of the address)so it high-lights the URL address then on your keyboard push the CTRL key and then letter C. Both at the same time. This will copy the URL address. 6. Open the other browser that you have MCM (post) on. Just above the feild where you type your post are a series of icons. Click the 4th icon (the picture frame)from the RIGHT. When the curser is on that icon it'll say "Insert Image" click that. It will bring up a field that sayes Explorer User Promt Script Prompt: Please enter the URL for this image. In the feild will be "http://" high lighted. Delete that then click the empty field and hit on your computer's keyboard CTRL key an V key both at the same time. This will paste your picture's URL address then click the "OK" icon. This will insert the image in your MCM post such as this..... Good Luck!!! By the way the Bison and T600 both look good.

What's goin' on... HA, you're right. In a round about way it does! -
What's goin' on... Here's what I started w/! (SKROLL DOWN FOR THE LATEST WIP PICS 9.21.08) Here's the recon chassis. (Should've taken a pic of it stripped) The chassis was painted w/ Tamiya matte black. If you noticed the tires were left on the truck while submerged in the (CSC) that's because they too were being cleaned up. And cleaned up THEY ARE!!! The degreaser cleaned them up flawlessly. Once dried I saned the crown and shoulders on the tires to remove any rubber flash and to give a weathered/driven look. The chrome was all stripped off the rims (from the Paystar 5000 dump kit). The holes were bored out and the back sides of these holes were ground down so the thickness of the rims look proportioned to scale. Next the molded on lugnuts were cut off flush w/ an exacto knife. (That needless to say hurts like a son of a b...... when it rolls off the work surface and land on your foot blade down) Using a pin vice I drilled out the holes for the 10 lug nuts then painted the rims white (Tamiya pure white) While the rims were drying I painted some scale bolts matte black made by Grandt Line. After both rims /bolts dried I installed the scale bolts in the rims and they turned out flawless!!! Unlike the chassis the cab/hood took longer to strip. Once it stripped the hood was infested w/ what looked like porosity and a wood grain look. (I bought this kit sealed in 2002 and don't remember this problem then and then in 2004 when it was repainted). I've found that dipping model pieces in 100% acetone in a round about way tempers the plastic if left in too long it'll destroy the piece as well. So I submerged for about 3 seconds and then ran cold water over it to cool the plastic. That cleared up some of the wood grain effect. Next I painted the hood w/ Tamiya Bare Metal Silver sanding it all off after it dried. I'm going to do this one coat at a time until the sureface is true enough to spray a complete base coat. Now for the second coat thatoo will get sanded down once it's set up. Of course this is trial and error. If it doesn't work then I have a donor chassis ready to go! Thanks for lookin and any interest in this.

What's goin' on... GOOD JOB!!! -
What's goin' on... There's only one thing here that I don't care for. The red string on the winch. That's gotta go!!! HA HAAA Seriously, Go check out some picture frame hanging wire where art, pictures get framed, matted and so on. It's made up of several strands of extremly thin wires that look true to scale steel braided cable. Other than that this rig looks good!

What's goin' on... Testors has a metallic purple that the metal flakes isn't overbearing and the color is subtle as well. I don't recall the exact name of the color but I can tell you I used it on a project years ago w/ good results. Wet sanding it and clear coating would really set it off!!!

Semi Trailer Mechanic replied to CAL's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
What's goin' on... Cal Sounds like you've got the builders block. Spend your spare time away from the bench for a few days or so. When ya get back to it you'll hit the ground running!!! -
Stretched KW T600
Semi Trailer Mechanic replied to Chris guthro's topic in WIP: Model Trucks: Big Rigs and Heavy Equipment
What's goin' on... Here's my T600 project (Taking a break from it for a little while) . Take a look maybe what I've done so far might give ya some ideas. In my opinion the T600 doesn't make for a good looking day cab. http://www.flickr.com/photos/9495602@N02/s...57603827432233/ -
What's goin' on... I'm guessing this is one of the AMT 359 kits. Install the tires so the bead is flush w/ the front lip of the rim. Apply a small amount of super glue to the back side (only) of the tire's bead to the rim then install the lock ring.
