  1. hey Roger, funny, but i do it just the opposite. i will lay down tape to see how wide to make the scoop. cut out the hood, then cut styrene to fit inside the cut hood so i can lay the glue on thick to insure a good bond to the hood. notch the sides to extend to the front. lay some styrene on top and cut to fit. sand it for nice and round edges and you are done. in my opinion, make sure the scoop runs parallel to the hood, see too many that are in an incline, i think they look goofy. i'd add a picture, but it says it's too big, as usual.
  2. well, Jason, usually roll cages are mild steel in a car like this. fancier ones (tube chassis cars) may be chrome moly tubing. all the pictures I see are of a darker tubing. your aluminum look may not be correct, but I would check with the hard core racers. I know my car's cage is mild steel painted black. if I were you, i'd leave it. it looks cool!! it will really stand out with a dark interior also. I have some aluminum laying around, may have to give it a try. and yes, i am fine. I am not a builder of mopar only, I do partake in the lesser brands of automobiles also. just never could figure out why mopars were the only ones to get it right. keep going, its looking great!! yea, that's kind of weird about the LS/6 cars. could they be one in the same? it was a wicked car, but he would never race anyone.
  3. going to be a sweet build Jason. have a few of these on the back burner, I will be watching to see what you do with it. back in the day, a friend of mine had a gold 1970 LS/6 chevelle, black vinyl top, stripes and interior. very serious car. question, why not styrene for the cage? is brass that much easier. I like te idea of adding the weight to the build. I never done anything in brass besides door and trunk hinges.
  4. edit; after I looked closer, its a standard cowl induction hood, but they still have the outlaw humps down the page. check here, Comp resins, not a very high hood, but it may work... http://www.compresins.com/site/751597/page/237911 item #22, a little farther down there are outlaw "humps", if you will. very reputable and nice parts. hope this helps.
