  1. This was built for yet another contest between me and a member of my club. The object was that he *out of nowhere* challenged me to a build off. This thing spiraled into a huge deal! "Pinks Challenges" were born! Long story short, the winner takes the losers model I won, but he paid me to keep his model LOL The rules, both builders use the same kit both builders must use same chassis and body everything else is agreed apon mutually. we agreed to leave out details such as wiring etc....because this build was already taking us nearly 6months and getting very old. This is the finished product. channeled body sectioned interior lowered suspension weathered anyplace i could scratchbuilt gas tank kit bashed with a 49 merc scratchbuilt? shifter many mods ENJOY!
  2. thank you and by the way i was not the only one to enter this body ...... mine got first place badger 360 air brush and trophy! this is the third place car with 4drs.
  3. that thing is INSANE! do you have any up close detail shots? way cool!
  4. This is one i built in an online contest. We had to try and capture what could be done back in the '60's when a kid built a model. We had to make the car look as "real" as possible without using ANY aftermarket items or anything that could not be found back in the 1950s or 1960s. I used thread to wire the engine, used wires for wires lol, some thin wire for the fuel line, my wife's eye shadow for weathering and ear wax to make it stick to the seats! I heard or read awhile back that someone used ear wax to dull their seats down for a realistic appeal and well......IT WORKS.....gross? yeah but who would know if i didn't tell ya LOL Someone asked me why no headlights? Because we were supposed to build them like a 50's hot rod in a 1960s building manner. Back in the 1950s kids took them fenders off and headlights off to make the car lighter while racing. There is no rad support bar? Well that is exactly how one looked that i saw on the History channel so i just did what i saw. I am only 32 so i could not know exactly without being there LOL ENJOY!
  5. thank you guys!
  6. very cool! i like the stance you have, nice work!
  7. holy cow! i have never seen that box before. can you please scan it for me on all sides? check out what i have been up to, this is my site. www.thedpmcc.com/instructionsintro.html awbcrazy@cox.net i would aprpeciate it very much!
  8. I built this one for an online contest and took it to a couple shows as well. This was a fun build considering the work i put into it. There are parts on this car that i scratchbuilt and parts from fake rolex watches to make the linkages. The windows in the kit come as a "whole" peice , so i cut the driver window and passenger window apart and made them "rolled down". The engine compartment has more than will show in these photos, but it's hard to capture things that are behind in between the firewall and engine. Enjoy!
  9. This is a curbside i built in about two weeks or less for another Hobby Town show last year. I tell ya what, people don't beleive it but there is only one color of paint on this! I sanded the mold lines out and polished the whole body by hand. This has such a nice shine on it that people have gone out of their way at a couple shows to tell me how nice my paint looked. (tee-hee) The white is painted, but the rest of the body is just "molded in color". This is also not the "lowrider" issue kit, i made it a low rider. The wheels kinda suck , but at the time it's all i had. By the way I am posting this more or less to show i can bare metal foil LOL.... (desperato topic)
  10. LOL exactly! I knew this and I wondered if they did it on purpose for some reason? :?
  11. Yes and thanks haha! Here is the gut punch......Hobby Town said there is no show until August! I was mis-informed about the whole thing...... Oh well, i am moving soon into a new house and i will get this back out later this year and finish the foil work and hopefully have the parts that are missing.
  12. Thank you! If there is a group build for them, i am IN!
  13. remember this is just a box art model.....no special detail went into this. this is a restoration that was really trashed out. i sanded the glass out to get rid of glue and scratches and polished it back to clear. Man this car was great to finally get what I wanted out of it, but it is missing parts and cannot be finished completely. The air horns for the carbs are gone and I had to use some valve covers from a newer kit. I was really going to try and have it all bare metal foiled and take it to the Hobby Town show tomorrow, but it's going with me exactly like you see it. I will foil it some other day, for now it's DONE....... I hope ya all enjoy! If anyone has one of these and willing to part with it let me know. I have another one that is missing even more parts lol
  14. gotta love it! whites look great on this one too! i like the color combo!
  15. thank you! the color is Deep Cranberry pearl by Duplicolor.
  16. i got some paint and clear on the body, but the weather has not been warmest so i can get everything that needs to be the same color done. as soon as i get all the stuff in the color i will polish it out and pack it up. i am moving soon so i have to put it on hold for a bit.
  17. thanks mn! i guess i already saw ya in chat lol
  18. thanks! yeah a few were telling me to put a Hemi in it or a sb chevy..... i can't do that, not on a street rod. if it was a hot rod or a rat rod maybe.
  19. thank you! no i didn't make the wheels a good friend of mine did named Bob Dudek.
