  1. Hey can you show a picture of the can of 3m stuff you got I am interested in it for some future builds.
  2. So I have changed direction with the paint choice on this one opting to use up some paint I have first. The paint is medium quasar blue by duplicolour. Comments and suggestions welcome.

    '59 Caddy!!!!

Stunning, that is one fine caddy.
  4. Those examples are awesome I can't wait to see how you do this.
  5. So I have decided to start work on a recent purchase of AMT’s 1960 Corvette kit which is a reproduction of the original MPC kit. The kit boasts one of seven different ways it can be built so lots of custom and goody parts to add to my supplies. My plan is to not build at all like any of the seven different ways the kit advertises but to instead do kind of a mild custom or weekend cruiser look with updated brakes and wheels. What I have done so far is Body: -re-scribed all panel lines and sanded emblems and handles off -still need to do more bondo work -final color will be red and white I don’t yet have a red Vette so I feel I am missing out. Chasis: -Painted and weathered as necessary as this is not a factory stock or show car -added in extra front end components as they were not included in the kit So that’s my progress to date comments and suggestions are appreciated and welcomed.
  6. I use an emery board and for knocking the sheen out of the tire I like to scrub with either tooth paste or comet I have had favorable results thus far.
  7. For the vinyl top you are just using tape? do you have any issues with adhesion? does the tape loose it's stick after a while?
  8. Looks good always been a fan of early jeep's wagoneers cherokee chiefs etc. Gives me some ideas for future and more ambitious projects.
  9. That car is really hot as a convertible never really noticed till I saw the ad the similarities to the first generation vettes.
  10. Great idea and use for the kit the colours play well off of each other, thanks for sharing this.
  11. Great take on this kit which is truly a dog, the tub looks and works much better then the kits intended purpose.
  12. Nah it will be fine just throw some duct tape over it and it will be fine. I am interested to see the results you get with this kit keep us posted.
  13. That is crazy, some major talent on display there, thanks for the link.
  14. Look's like a fun build might have to get one of these as the wife has a thing for gremlins.
  15. Great build, I have a few Caddies in the wings and this will be a great reference point and inspiration.
  16. I really like the level of weathering and your process looks great job well done.
  17. This will be a great reference thanks for sharing.
  18. In Peterborough nothing for Hobby shops other then Cosburns which is mostly for the railroad crowd, some kits not a lot of selection however. The only other place that sells kits is Michaels super expensive and again selection thats why I save up through out the year and shop on line for kits.
  19. I enjoy restorations as well always good to breath new life into an old project and it's true they don't build them like they used to.
  20. Good day eh! Ontario here, I have been dealing wioth Dennis for the last two years unmatched quality and service.
  21. welcome from another new guy and a fellow "James" looking forward to seeing your results on the T- Bird I have built it and it truns out nice some issues with mounting the body to the frame nothing too serious though just make sure the frame is straight and true before you get too far into it.
  22. Yeah this place is great lots of energy and exciting builds, I think this forum will be the change of pace thats needed. It was J Sauber's build on the 48 Continental that brought me here I was looking for info on that particular lindbergh kit which I know now can be turned into something great, then of course the variety of builds this site is not as tamiya oriented which a lot of theother forums live and die by which is nice a lot of love for mpc and amt which in the right hands can be beautiful. So in short looking forward to geting involved and showing what i do.
  23. Hi my name is Jim and I am new to the site but not new to modeling, I have been building off and on since I was eight. I got back into the hobby two years ago full bore and have been going strong ever since. When I am not chasing around my 18 month old or my 5 month old I like to build a bit of everything from box stock to custom, I enjoy experimenting a lot and like to challenge myself. I dont have anything new on the bench at this moment, being winter I cant get a lot of painting done so I am doing restoration work mostly on my early kits from when I got back into the hobby two years ago. recently I finished up a weathered 66 Buick wildcat which I can post photos of.
