  1. Those turned out awesome! Thanks for posting 'em! I've been trying to find pics of them completed but to no avail. dwc43, if you're not anti-eBay, there are a few of them on there I believe, that's where I got this one.
  2. Finished up the chassis tonight! I know they all look the same underneath but here are some pics anyhow. The glue on the front end is still drying so I can't set the car upright yet. I'll post upright pics tomorrow (it's 1:30 a.m. so today?) when it dries and I can put weight on the wheels.
  3. So I did a general search for model kits on eBay and found these among others. My brother will be building the Vega while I'll tackle the Plymouth. Progress will be posted as we go. Edit 5-3: removed pics of box art to free up quota. Kits are AMT 36 Plymouth early modified and AMT rat trap vega. Completed kits will be posted soon.
  4. Those are awesome!! Your perspectives are spot on!
  5. Awesome job on one of my favorite cars. Rusty Wallace is one of my favorite all-time drivers so this car is extra cool to me. Also, I am actually a Busch bros. fan. Kyle wasn't too bad this weekend other than those restarts in the Nationwide race that he won.
  6. Got the engine done and as promised, here are the pictures. The pipes came out better than I had hoped. I first painted them copper which was too dark (see previous post) but I dipped my brush into the top layer of thinner in my jar of Tamiya acrylic silver and brushed a light coat over the pipes, giving them a realistic metal look. The silver flake collected in the contours as well and from afar, it looks like welds. Enjoy!
  7. That's what I see!
  8. Hey dudes, sorry for the long time between updates. I've finally begun on the #5 and will try and finish this by next week (I've been short on funds and supplies needed to work on this). Here are a few pics of what I have done thus far: First are the wheels. They have been sanded to make them look more realistic. They do not have the yellow edge on the rim because I did not figure out an easy way to do it until after I had finished them. Oh well. The small logo and lug lines on the hubs are present, though hard to see here. Second is the engine in a not-so-accurate color. As I said, I am low on supplies so I made do with what I have. I don't think you'll be able to see much of the block anyhow. Lastly are the headers. This color is a bit too dark so I'm going to try and lightly brush some transparent silver over them then blue them. It's possible I'll have the engine completed tonight and I'll post more pics if I do! Thank you for looking and stay tuned! -Justin Edit: removed pics to free up quota. They weren't that exciting anyhow.
  9. When the Nationwide cars were first branded as Impalas, they were still Monte Carlo bodies, windows included.
  10. What if I brush the Future onto the car where I am putting the decal then put the decal over top of it?
  11. Just got this from eBay today and will probably be starting it next week sometime. I know there are 1 or 2 of these on here, but it is still one of my favorites from back in the day. It's Terry Labonte's #5 Kellogg's Monte from 1997 I believe. Revell's Lvl 3 kit. I'll post a few pics along the way and surely the finished product.
  12. Alright, so I used Future for decals for the first time today. What I did was dip the decals in water, slide them off the paper, then dip them in Future, then applied them. My next project is a 1997 Terry Labonte Kellogg's NASCAR. There are some larger and odd-shaped decals and I would not be able to dip just the decals into the Future. My question is would dipping the decal into the Future while still ON the paper give me the same result?? Thank you ahead of time!
  13. I have the first gen Nissan 350z that I put almost $200 into with an all aluminum front end (Suspension and steering). Also has a custom graphic job done by my brother (all vinyl). Definitely worth picking up if you can still find one. There was alot of aftermarket support for them both through Radio Shack and websites like atomicmods.com.
  14. The Dharma Van is almost complete! Just need to add taillights, windshield wipers, mud and rust, and a few other very minor details. It was my fist time working with BMF so the logo is shoddy work but the idea is there.
  15. It turned out incredible either way. When I was building the Tamiya JACCS Accord, I completely gave up on the body decals. This one however, ended up awesome!
  16. I am building the Revell Samba now. VERY Detailed kit! I've never even seen a Skill Level 5 model before this and didn't know they went past 3. However, I am changing bits to resemble a 70's era bus as I am trying to make a Dharma Van from the TV show "Lost".
  17. Progress Report: Filled VW logo and turn signal sockets on front, removed window frames to create long windows of 70's body style and sanded off the rear quarter vents. In removing the window frames, I also had to glue the two side doors together, creating one giant suicide door. It will probably not be accurate to the 1:1 but it's the only way. Painting will begin tonight or tomorrow with assembly to follow immediately after. Top half will be TS-7 Racing White to give it a dingy look, bottome half will be TS-? French Blue which is bit darker and more saturated than in the show, but it's k. It will also get a mud treatment from testors brown and sand beige.
  18. That is the coolest thing I've seen in modeling, I think. One question if I may.. I am still new to modeling and I was wondering how BMF is applied. Is it adhesive-backed or do you glue it? If glue, does regular testors model glue work? I guess that was more than one question...
  19. Sorry, but you said "genital".
  20. I'll post pics later, but I also have some of the window frames cut out to make the 70's big windows. I will then fill them with action figure packaging plastic for windows. Should be ready for paint Monday-Tuesday.
  21. Got the front "V" sanded off the Dub for the Dharma Van. This is gonna be a tough one. The model is a 50's body, the Dharma is a 70's and I've never modded before.
  22. Very good! Here is a pic of one of the vans in the show. I won't be weathering mine this way, because frankly, I don't have that skillset yet. Also, if it's allowed, this won't quite be a replica as the model I have is a different year and I don't have the resources to fully convert it. I will try and get as close as possible.
  23. If it's still an option, I'd like to get in on this one. I just bought a VW microbus from my LHS literaly 5 minutes ago that I want to make into the Dharma Van from "Lost." Even though I stopped watching a couple of seasons ago, being that this is the last one it'd be a nice tribute. It just a cool van too. Should I post progress here or just the final product?
  24. Ok, cool. Thank you guys for all the tips!
  25. Thats a great article Sully, thanks! I will definitely pick this stuff up next time I build a racer with alot of decals. The article doesn't really say, but can I brush on some Future after the model is complete (paint and decals and assembled)?
