  1. Hey Brad.... thanks for sticking with me for what seems like a long journey that will never end. It just seems lately every time I take a step or two forward that I end up taking 4 or 5 backwards. This build is defeating me at the moment. Hoping to get to respray things tonight or tomorrow.
  2. Brad... You are going to be disappointed... I am not sure when I will have updates now, I had some paint go wrong on what I was trying to get done..........
  3. Tyrone.... this build turned out killer. It is a nice and clean build. Great job on it.
  4. Hakan... Thank you. Art... Thanks brother. I am actually excited with the one part I am currently working on. I had to re-prep it last night but should be ready to work on when I get home today. But there are a few more details that I want to get done before I show it here. Well I guess I am probably more anxious to see this part assembled.
  5. Tim... I am still amazed at your machining skills. I can easily see how you can have alot of hours wrapped up into the parts you make. But I would think the reward is totally worth it. You don't know how bad I wish I could go buy the end mill and lathe that I want. I have been wanting them for a couple of years now. And seeing your work just makes me wish I could get mine now. I like the idea that you went with the Frankland rear end, I love the fins on it and it is going to look great in that car. I am already looking forward to your next update.
  6. I would say it is more of a personal preference on the brand of paint one uses. I personally use mostly PPG base coat /clear coat and House of Kolor for my automotive paints. I know friends that use Dupont, Sikkens and even some that use Sherwin williams automotive paint. As I have said its a personal preference. If I remember correct when I talked to Jameson from Scale finishes when he was here at a show last year that all of his paint is Dupont.
  7. Tim... Holy Smokes that back plate is a work of art already. .22 mm thick fins... You are saying that the fins are .009" thick? Dang that is tiny and I am super impressed. I can't wait to see the next parts you make for this. Keep up the great work!! Glad you are back at the bench.
  8. Brad.... was hoping to have it done today but looks like I have to repaint a part since it did not meet my satisfaction .... so so in the next day or two
  9. Batman... Thanks Brother!!! I appreciate the Kind Words. You need not let your minions take so much time off..... although Kevin did do some great work for me but got lazy after I ran out of Corona . Just wait until my next update.... I have something in store that I think will be pretty cool when it's done. I have a few details to work on it but I can't wait to bring them together because I think I will pretty good all together. So Stay tuned....
  10. Art and I do have the same hair do...
  11. Dave.... I am glad to hear that you have dusted this one off and have it back on the bench. I AL looking do ward to the pics of your recent updates.
  12. Tim....I will he anxiously awaiting what you come up with on your end mill for the rear end. Can't wait to see the awesome machining work.
  13. Tim..... I am looking forward to seeing your next update with the door and trunk all cut out. I would even like to see the A pilars glassed in for strength. I have never thought about doing that before when curing the doors out.
  14. Dave W... Thank you very much. Dave R... Thank you sir. I am just happy to continue to make progress... Little by little
  15. Paul... the Butterfly steering is Future Attractions photo-etch steering wheel. Great stuff from him. I will get you dimensions of the firebottle knob.
  16. Tim... I have to say that with the fix you did on the roof, Man it looks killer. I honestly think that it looks way better now. This is going to be an awesome build to watch come together. I can't wait to see when you start the engine and chassis on this.
  17. Good Morning Fellas.... well I tried to post this last night but was having issues being able to get onto model cars last night. it seemed that the site was down for some reason so I gave up trying to post last night. But I got a little more done last night. I decided get some more work done on the distributor cap. Did some sanding some priming.... little more sanding and then got it primed again and I think I am not happy with it and it is ready for some color. Here are a few pics of it.... Here is the Distributor cap after a few coats of primer: Here is the distributor mocked up with the cap and boots put into place: And here are two shot of the distributor on the engine:
  18. Mike... Thank you very much. I have enjoyed sharing this build the way I have been by showing every step of it. Yeah on the distributor I had this idea in my head which probably didn't make sense at first when you saw what I was doing but with this next update I think it will help even more. As far as cutting the brass I took my calipers and set it at .100", I took my brass tube marked it with a Sharpie, then I take the capers and basically scribe a line into the sharpie ink. Then from there I take my exacto knife and line it up on my scribe line and roll the brass tube back and forth to cut the brass. The boots on the distributor are actually RB Motion 1/16th Spark Plug boots. It has crossed my mind to draw up some spark plug boots just to see how they would print. Tim... Thank you very much. The more ticks I can punch off on this to do list the sooner I can get it done... . I have to say that I am super excited and hopefully will be able to sand the steering wheel tomorrow so that it will be ready for some black paint because I can't wait to see how the contrast of the wood grips and the black look. Cheers! Scott... Thank you. That was the first time I had though to use my pin vise as a holding device while soldering a part. It seemed to work pretty good for what I was doing. Oh that's not good about the torch flame. Good thing I was using a soldering iron. I am sure we all have done silly mistakes. I know I have that's for sure
  19. Mike... Thank you very much. Danno... Thanks... Oh wait there is supposed to be an engine in this thing?? Tim... Thank you very much. You definitely need to post pics of this Dual Engine AA/GD for sure. I would love to see it. To answer your question they knob on the fire bottle installed will clear the butterfly steering wheel. Right now in the pic that you see the fire bottle is not sitting in the correct position. I just mocked it up real quick for pictures. It will actually sit lower than in my pics. Here is a pic of how it sits the real car:
  20. Bob... Thank you. Joe... Thanks Buddy. I am trying my best to get as much right that I can all though its impossible to capture every little detail Brent.... Thank you. Hey Congrats on the new house. I am sure it feels great to get settled in the new house. Get your model bench all set up and get back to that altered of yours. I am digging that build. Not quite sure what I will work on today but hopefully I will have some updates later.
  21. My Guess is that the paint blushed on you. Which its caused from High humidity or if its too cold when spraying.
  22. Art... I sure hope you got everything done you needed to so it can be sitting on that contest table tomorrow. I know it will look killer.
  23. After getting the Steering wheel Soldered up I had to see what it looked like on the steering shaft: Then I had to go back and make a very small ring to put on the quick release to represent the quick release lever: I then got the Butterfly steering wheel shot with some Tamiya primer to see how things look and It needs a little sanding: And here is a close up of it, I can't wait to get it painted black and the wood grips glued on to it:
